I could write a novel about this company and how shady and disgustingly dishonest they are but I will stick to this one job although there is A LOT more. Quick background: Keep in mind this is a company we did about 100k in sub work with last year, and about 50k this year before I finally had enough of the lies and deceit after this debacle of delusion and manipulation.
Ultimately my fault for trusting this person who would whine about needing work and then act like you're and idiot for asking ANY questions and then act like they dont need the work, looking back on it I feel stupid for allowing this for so long but its a good life lesson. I would say all the time, just stop trying to over charge me, lie, blame me and everyone else just tell me you cant get to something, you couldnt do it just be honest thats all.
We are very patient and appreciative of anyone that we work with. He would also tell me "Schedules are made to be broken" when he wouldnt show up to jobs or start jobs on time, I have never heard that phrase before.
We dont operate like that. You'd think you would try and cultivate a relationship like ours but it was constantly us catching Steve in multiple lies, lying to me lying to my employees, lying to our tenants, never show up on time, if at all, his employees always angry and complaining to our tenants about how they hate working for him. Blame everything on us, or the tenants for their terrible organization and scheduling.
He caused a ton of chaos im glad we are finally out of this hurricane of drama. It was always "the tenants didn't answer the phone" or "the tenants weren't home / wouldn't lets us in". Yeah because they would just show up randomly while people are waiting hours and they were understandably angry, or not even call and then we have angry tenants because of a no show, just tell us you cant make it.
Every time we checked with a tenant they all said the same thing, "They're lying" or "they never called" or "they never showed up" "they came for a minute and left" or they were hours late, Steves response always was that it was our fault somehow or that our tenants were "idiots", "Losers", "retarded", "crackheads" "drug addicts" Etc, never his fault.
Meanwhile the tenants were always cooperative and polite when we caled and sent other people over, never an issue. We couldn't make it any easier for our vendors and contractors, we get a work order that has all the tenant info, and job description on it then email it and they schedule, never an issue other than this company.
The amount of times I heard "'I never got no info you never sent nothing...oh i didn't check my email" has to be over 100x. The amount of times jobs wouldn't get done and I got told "you never gave me the approval" has to be over 150x. I would constantly scream, you have the approval for everything we send you, stop saying that just say I didnt get to it.
He would lie to me and blame my brother, and vise versa causing constant problems and then laugh when confronted. Would literall just make things up and cause problems between us and then laugh or deny it, insanity. We were also friends for years and he would constantly call me "you got any work in that office?" So i figured we could work together, boy was I wrong!
Took complete advantage of our friendship and patience. On this particular job Steven Salvaggio took a deposit on a roof repair job of $5,000 on May 3rd. He also told my brother I never gave it to him, so my brother calls me "why is steve saying he cant do the roof because you didnt pay the deposit?" and then I called screaming at him to stop lying to my brother and he actually one time apologized, you will see in the texts.
Still has not returned deposit and actually laughed about it. Total quote for the roof repair and chimney repair was 12k, not to mention another contractor did a perfect job, had all the necessary paperwork sent and approved in one day, did the job and passed inspection with flying colors for 7k. He told me "I told you before that guy Steve is ripping you off but you didnt listen to me, now he got you for 5k".
He just fluffs up every job like its the worst he's ever seen or will make up problems that don't exist so make sure you check every single diagnosis because if he sees and angle to rip you off, he's taking it. Trust but verify, even if its with a "friend".
On this final job we had to fill out paperwork with the town of Greece which I did, and he had to send over his company insurance info to the inspector for approval, once that happened he had to sign my paperwork with his info, seems simple enough, submit and start work, but nothing is easy with this company.
After lying 3x in 2 weeks, me calling the town asking if they received the paperwork, Steve verifying multiple times it was sent, making us look stupid and the town of Greece literally said "we dont have it I wouldn't work with this guy he keeps telling you he sent it we dont have it" I wanted the $ back. He then actually told me word for word "what are you worried about?
It will be there" after delaying 2 weeks. He then tried to scam my brother into giving him a check for 10k after I demanded my money back while I was out of town saying I am not paying his invoices, my brother said "I dont believe that but if you bring all the past due invoices here I will write you a check for half, and then Mike will have to handle it when he gets back. Guess what?
He never showed up with the invoices as expected. If this guy was legit owed 10k, hed be there, hes a greedy scammer. When I then got back to town furious and confronted him, saying we have a zero balance where is this 10k in past invoices!?! Stop calling my brother behind my back saying that , where are these invoices?
We had a $2800 balance which was was paid where are these invoices you keep talking about?! VERBATIM his response was "HAHAHA I dont know probably somewhere" I then kept asking for the money and he kept saying 'I dont have time for this" "I will have to see if theres a balance owed" (Meaning create fake invoices, which never appeared by the way).
The last text I received was that "check will be mailed after any expenses" No check mailed, no response. We had to unfortunately file charges for Theft of Service and set a court date.
I have all these texts which I will upload, you will see the lies about open balances that dont exist, still has not provided proof, and the frustration of talking to someone who is just lying and making things up as they go and deflecting, its extremeley frustrating. Its insane it has to go this route, but I am sure the money has been long spent.
