Steven Rickard posted a false review about us online because we reserved our right to terminate his pool service. Sometime in early 2017 Steven called us claiming that after the poolman cleaned his filter it's been leaking since. We called our poolguy who told us "I've never cleaned his filter, besides, it's been leaking since we started service" (on May 22, 2017). Our poolguy cleaned his filter shortly after this and determined it was leaking likely from the fiberglass weakening between the two bulkheads. We informed Steven Rickard that fiberglass polypropylene filters last only 10-12 years before they weaken and split and he should consider replacing it sooner than later.
Steven Rickard calls us again in late 2017 with the EXACT same accusations! We reminded him of our previous conversations. January 2nd, 2018 Steven Rickard calls our office claiming "when his filter was cleaned couple of weeks ago we disengaged a plug at bottom of the filter and he is losing water ? Needs someone to look at it ".
We sent a service repair technician which determined it was leaking between the bulkheads, the backwash valve was leaking and the filter was at the end of it's shelf life. We once again recommended to Steven Rickard it's time to replace the pool filter before it splits all the way down the side which could cause damage to the nearby equipment if pump isn't turned off in a timely manner.
This often happens when no one is home which can cause property damage, short out filter pump and drain your pool. On January 4, 2018 Steven Rickard agrees to replace the filter and states he will call back with a credit card. He changes his mind and reverts back to claiming it was the drain plug then blaming the poolguy, AGAIN. Fast forward to May 28, 2018 Steven Rickard sends the email with subject line "We have a major problem" then goes on to blame us for the FOURTH time in a year for the problem that began BEFORE we ever cleaned his filter and BEFORE we started weekly pool cleaning.
We summarily sent him an email terminating service, he takes to online reviews to besmirch our company because we wont capitulate to the scam he is trying to pull.

I want to say 3 weeks ago you’re team was out once again to service my pool and clean the filter. I saw the technician as he was leaving and he kept telling me “it leak no more, I fix.” I thought he was talking about the past pin hole leak I noticed from the last filter change that seemed to have cleared itself up. I had been awaiting a call from the owners about that situation but it I never received one. I had a new pool heater installed. After the installation the technicians came to get me. I was informed that my pool was being red taped and was deemed unsafe for use. They shut it down at the breaker and our pool party / BBQ we were trying to have for Memorial Day went out the window. He then proceeded to show me my filter and asked me why on earth I’d use epoxy to try and fix a high pressure filter and the death risk related to doing so.
I told him I had no clue what he was talking about. He showed me the fresh newly applied epoxy that was applied to my filter. That was never there before, nor was I aware that my filter had been damaged during the last cleaning. It was never brought to my attention. But it then made sense what the technician was talking about when he said, “it leak no more, I fix.” As my subject line states, we have a major problem, I’d like to know how this will be resolved. We explained to Steven who doesn't know the difference between silicone and epoxy that since his leak was worsening and he refused to replace the filter the pool cleaner thought he was helping out by applying some REMOVABLE silicone to the outside of the filter and bulkheads. He goes on in his email with a plethora of platitudes and drama blaming us and claiming suddenly "nor was I aware that my filter had been damaged during the last cleaning" remember, this is the same clown who stated in early 2017 right after we started service and BEFORE we ever cleaned his filter that we "damaged" it then too. The use of hyperbole and amnesia that we had this conversation with him FOUR times prior we didn't want him as a customer. We don't do business with duplicitous people, people who refuse to fix their dilapidated equipment like many other parts of his house and his gate which is hanging by a hinge. His backwash valve which is warped and leaking etc. We are not beholden to you Steven, we owe you NOTHING. You will be hearing from our company attorney regarding your false reviews online. I suggest you seek the advice of a defamation attorney as this can be quite costly for you at the end of the day.
Steven Rickard hired a fly by night company to install a new pool heater who apparently has the authority to "red tag" the equipment. I look this company up and they are not only pushing the Pentair Mastertemp which is the WORST heater on the market, complete JUNK but their reviews go back only two months, no Internet trail, no licensed technicians that we could find based off their name. Now Steven Rickard believes them, but not us that the filter needs replacing and according to his yelp review he is hiring them to install a new filter. We reminded him once again ad nauseam that the filter has begun splitting, he replies : This isn’t a splitting issue, it was broken and someone was attempting to be cover it up so I wouldn’t notice. You quoted me $1000, I don’t see how charging me for damages I did not cause or create is solving or fixing the problem. The company that came out to install the heater stated that the filter is still in great shape but that was broken by someone who was back flushing it and not cleaning it the proper way, then they attempted to fix it with silicone epoxy with turned it potentially into a bomb waiting to go off. 23 years in business and now this "expert" claims we used epoxy, now silicone epoxy which "turned it potentially into a bomb waiting to go off" You're too stupid to argue with and proof positive why we don't want to deal with you ever again.
Steven Rickard finally paid his balance after a few communications, we asked him to remove his false review and go away, he replies with: I’m very sorry you feel this way but it is not a scam, you’re set up on auto payment thru my PayPal, you’ve always been automatically paid that way. I checked my records today after the non-payment statement was made and you’re correct, your last payment was in March. The balance has been paid in full. Money is not the issue. Why it didn’t go thru is beyond me and the bill I received in May showed a xxx balance. If you say xxxx is due, then you’re entitled to that payment. Damaging my property however is what has us where we are now.
My review is factual and this will not be removed unless a compromise can be made. I will not be bullied by you or your company for damages you caused on my property. I’ve been documenting this entire exchange as well. And will continue to use Yelp as an open forum if needed. I have already started a claim with the BBB, and have filed a report with the Corona police department. A case is currently open with Corona PD regarding the placement of my personal information on Yelp in an attempt to intimidate me to remove my post, this is a direct violation of Yelps terms of service and a report has been issued to them as well. I’ve also made sure to inform the officer assigned to this case about the calls you have made to my cell phone from a blocked number today and how you have harassed me at work, using vulgarity then hanging up.
I’ve been very open to resolving this in a fair amicable manner, other than you charging me full price for damages your employee caused. Instead it’s been met with short responses and accusations that my filter was broken prior to OCPS performing work for me. Your unprofessionalism in this matter is beyond words. Perhaps if you would have come out to inspect the problem as you originally stated you would back in January. We would not be dealing with this at such an extreme level as we are now. Your recorded conversation you have on file will state, you were to have the owner reach out to me because it was above your decision making ability to have an inspection set up at my property. That call never happened and the small drip that was the beginning of this matter had stopped. Only to find out that it was due to the pump speed being turned down by your tech to cover or mask the problem.
If you would like to resolve this matter in a mature manner, you obviously have my cell phone # and email address. I’m open to negotiation and finding resolution. At which time I would be more than happy to edit my reviews or remove them, Which ever you feel best.
Instead of removing his false review he is attempting to extort us "will not be removed unless a compromise can be made." and goes on to blame us for the I've lost track of how many times, talking to this imbecile is like talking to a fish. "I'm open to negotiation and finding resolution. At which time I would be more than happy to edit my reviews or remove them, which ever you feel best."
"Perhaps if you would have come out to inspect the problem as you originally stated you would back in January.." We came out 3 times, PHOTOS Corona PD will do nothing for you, it's a civil case. We wont be extorted. You will get ZILCH from us, we owe you NOTHING. We don't want you as a customer, you are too obtuse to have a conversation with, where we explain over and over and over again the same thing. Oh, as we stated prior, if you don't like the silicone it PEELS OFF! JERK
