I met Stephen a few years back and right from the start there were red flags. He moved himself and his cat into my tiny apartment (that didn’t allow cats and I was also very allergic) from day one. Never payed rent or offered to chip in for groceries. After about half a year I had enough and decided we needed a bigger space that allowed cats as well. I had also gotten a written notice from my landlord because Stephen smoked marijuana inside my apartment after telling him about my apartments policy. In the new apartment the rent came from my account and I always had to remind Stephen to pay his share. When we were looking for apartments we were very limited because he informed me of his bad credit. Not from student loans, but from buying a car he couldn’t afford and not paying his bills and a gambling problem. He didn’t have a credit card so he couldn’t buy himself a cell phone so I was manipulated into buying him a phone and having the plan on my credit card (which he never payed me on time for).
His ex girlfriend would constantly be phoning me telling me he owed her money for their car. He ultimately lost the car, and complained to me constantly about needing one for work. I lent him money for the car and I didn’t get payments for about 6 months. He was draining my accounts and would get angry if I asked for my money. I ended up leaving him and he said he would make Monthly payments. He has blocked me everything and hasn’t payed me for the car. He was also 13 years older than me, and I honestly don’t know how he can justify stealing from someone and think he can just get away with it. I have tried very hard to be patient and understanding but I have dealt With this for too long, and I do not want anyone els to go through what I went through. I was young and naive and I take responsibility for being blinded by superficial charm, I just want to warn people to not make the same awful mistakes I made.
