Steam Pro Carpet Cleaning Reviews

  • Aug 14, 2017

A few weeks ago I began to see Steampro signs popping up around our neighborhood . The signs advertised a cleaning special and that the company would also clean upholstery and many other things. I called to find out more about their special and left a message on a voicemail that identified the company as Steampro. A short while later I received a call back from a gentleman named Clay. I did not catch Clay's last name. Clay went through his spiel trying to upsell me many products before we finally got down to the types of services I needed. I described what I needed and he gave me a quote over the phone, which I thought was strange. He moved on to aggressively asking to set an appointment for a week later. His behavior is not unlike many sales people these days so I was not alarmed at this point. Clay called to confirm the appointment the day before the service was scheduled. The next day a guy arrived in an unmarked Chevy Suberban that displayed no brands or logos. He introduced himself as Clay, but not the Clay that I talk to on the phone. Hmmm. Clay surveyed the articles that I need to clean, and supposedly went to work.

I was working from home that day so I was in the living room while he put on what appeared to be a dog and pony show of fake cleaning processes. He sprayed down the sofas and the floors and began to vacuum the water out of them. He mentioned that if I smelled something funny that it was the disinfectant that he was using but I didn't smell anything and later it didn't appear that any disinfectant even detergent had been used. After he had been "working" for an hour he paused and said that he needed to let the "product" work, and asked if I could pay the invoice so he could do his paperwork while he waited. I normally don't pay for any services up front but I was not paying attention so I had no idea that he was litterally just acting like he was working. I paid the invoice in cash (Clay and I negotiated a cash price over the phone). At that time I went to the back of the house to get some quiet away from his machine. He "worked" for another few minutes and then hurriedly packed up and left! I had earbuds in and was on a phone call so I did not notice that the machine had been quiet for a little while.

When I came back out to the living room, he was gone, my floors and furniture were soaking wet and my front door was standing wide open. Upon inspection of the floors and furniture, he had merely soaked everything down and acted as if he was "steam cleaning" them. It took me hours to clean up the mess he made. Many, many calls to the Steampro "office" were ignored and no messages returned. After calling the BBB, I learned that Steampro is not a registered company nor do they have a brick and mortar or online presence. I should have done what I preach and checked them out ahead of time. Now I have to hire another company to come in and do the work that Steampro was paid for but skipped out on. Clay drives a blue Suberban with aggressive tires and a "We got your back" Police support sticker on the back window.
