State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Reviews
Jan 14, 2020
Have been a customer for over 25 years. I insured both my autos and home with them plus I had life insuarance with them. I was notified this week that my auto policy will not be renewed effective February 25, 2020. The reason they lsited was due to the number of claims. I was invloved in an at fault accident on 12-05-2019. Prior to that my wife and I have not an at fault accident in over 20 years.
The letter list two accidents. One in 2018 and one in 2019. There was no claim for the accident in 2018 under my policy. My son has his own policy. This was a claim that he filed under his policy. They are saying because I cosigned for my son, that is counted against me. My wife was informed by the agent that they will be dropping my son when his policy is up for renewal.
I was told by the gaent that I had accident for giveness under my policy. I feel that State Fram is unfairly combining these policy together in order to drop coverage on my automobiles.
Because they don't won't my business, I will be dropping my hgomeowners insurance and life insurance policy and taking my business to someone that wants it. I know they collected more in premuims then they ever payed out in claims in all my years of doing business with them. By the way the agent tried to talk my wife from not canceling the life insurance policy and homeowers. I left with no other choice since my homeowners is going to go if I stay with them because I losing my discount for multiple policies.
Apparently they don't live up too their slogan because if they did they would not treat a neighbor like that.
I will no longer recommend State Farm as a good insurance.
This started as soon as we got the loan. The payment was due on the 25th but you had unitl the 5th, the 6th or sometimes even the 7th to get the payment in without being dinged with a late fee becuase it was ten business days and according to if the month had 28, 30 or 31 days depended on when the grace period was over.
So I got this late fee notice on the 1st when I know it wasnt late until the 5th. I say to myself, just a glitch because it's a new loan they would correct it. Wrong!
This practice of charging a late fee before grace period was up would continue until the loan was paid off. even going to the website didnt help, because they used the processed date of the check instead of when you submitted it to the website.
I know I cannot be the only one who encountered this with State Farm. I reported this to CFPB but of course, they allowed the company to say, no, they didn't do it even though I presented strong proof such as canceled checks, web submittal records and the payment coupons. State Farm had the audacity to say that I was always late when I submitted proof that I was not. CFPB accepted that as proof because a big corporation said so. When I was late, I paid the late fee but if I was within the grace period, I did not because that's the way it was supposed to work.
I have since paid them off but I just want everyone out there to beware and if this is a business pattern, I would like others to chime in to help other consumers make a informed decision about business practices of banks like State Farm.
My beautiful truck was rear-ended in 2016…and the nightmare still isn’t over in 2018.
State Farm’s “partner” repair facility’s damage estimate: $600.53.
My reputable (Ford) repair facility damage estimate: $2266.33.
Their facility claimed the vehicle had damage from a previous accident, exactly at the point of impact. Huh? Doesn’t that seem a little strange? What accident? The vehicle has never been in any other accident (which I told them)! They also ignored obvious other damage. Hmm. That all seems very suspicious… Is it perhaps to undervalue the claim?
State Farm has refused to pay the difference. State Farm has refused any reasonable compromise whatsoever. Is this a limitation on coverage (which is illegal if I choose my own repair facility in Texas)? I think it is.
State Farm even tried to settle (for the $600.53 - hahaha) without disclosing in writing that other people have already made claims on the accident, so I’d get a reduced settlement. Were they thinking they could just sneak that in unnoticed? From start to (not yet finished), it’s all seemed very shady and underhanded.
Anyway, my truck’s still busted nearly 500 days after someone else hit it…and there's no end in sight to the drama.
Inflated premium increases on policies without customer notification of changes for escrow paid premiums. No notifications are sent to customers with updated policies changes, revised policies not being sent to customers with changes. When customers contact Shannon Perren's office to inquire, they then try to deflect by adding on other policies in order to make the customer think doing so will lower their already increased premium, and ignore the increase.
