Called Starmovers USA to hire 2 men per hour to unload a moving truck. Had to give a deposit that day of $50 to hold my reservation. We moved from NC to SC and used a trailer just like a pod. U-Pack and they drive. So basically i just needed help with the unloading when it got here to SC.
Our truck was delayed a bit getting here, but I was told no worries I could just call them as soon as I knew of the expected arrival date and I would be just fine, this t I was told by a woman named Leah. I then called again and gave them the exact date that I would need the help.
The Supervisor named David assured me I was all set. Later that evening I got a call from a man named Kenny who said he was the mover and works for craigslist. So apparently Starmovers USA sublets their work out. To me not a problem at all as long as it gets done and they are insured.
So I was scheduled to have our trunck un-loaded 8:00am on April 28th. I called and spoke to David to confirm this all on April 27th the day prior. To be told I was all set and the mover Kenny would call me in the morning to confirm. Well my husband took a day off from work to be there at the storage unit at 8:00am. No one ever showed, he called Kenny's cell # and he said no sir they hired someone else for this job. So he called David. David said whatever and he would get two movers out asap.
Well by 11:00am still no one called or showed up. My husband called every number we had for them and they were all disconnected. He called that man named Kenny on his cell and asked if he could do it. He said sure for $50 an hour. Well at this point 1 mover was better then none. He was to arrive by 3:00pm. Called my husband at 3:10 and said his car would not start could he get my husband to pick him up?
Absolutely NOT!! was my husbands reply. So needless to say the storage facility had to help us hire a company to unload our truck and have it done before 7:00pm that evening when they close. I now will probably owe the storage facility extra money just having to have that truck sit there for days.
I also may have to pay extra to the U-Pack Company because they only give you 3 business days to unload their truck. It has been a total Nightmare to say the least. We have called and called all day long and their phones were disconnected and their email was temporarily unavailable as well. I will be reaching out to a lawyer for sure. This so-called company needs to be stopped. Karma is a ***** and they will see that oneday.

I SECURED THE MOVERS THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO MY MOVE AND THEY SENT ME CONFIRMATION TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS OF THE PAYMENT I HAD GIVEN THEM. THE DAY BEFORE THE MOVE, I GOT EMAILS FROM EVERY PLACE TO CONFIRM TRANSFER OF SERVICES AND FORWARDS EXCEPT FROM THE MOVING COMPANY KNOWN AS WWW.STARMOVERSUS.COM SO I CALLED THEM TO VERIFY THE MOVERS AND WAS ADVISE THEY HAD TWO MOVERS FOR ME AT 12:30 PM AND THAT THEY WILL CALL ME AN HOUR BEFORE COMING OUT TO VERIFY MY ADDRESS, AND I WAS TO PAY THE BALANCE OWED WHEN THE MOVE IS COMPLETED. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED PHONE CALL FROM THE MOVER TELLING ME HE COULD NOT FIND MY ADDRESS ON GPS BUT THE ADDRESS HE DID GET WAS IN MY COMMUNITY SO HE WAS ON HIS WAY. AT 12:10 PM, THE SAME MOVER CALLED TO ASK ME IF THE MOVERS HAD GOTTEN THERE YET AND IF THEY HAD NOT THEN HE WILL COME TO MOVE ME.
I WAS CONFUSED AND ASKED HIM IF HE WAS THE ONE WHO CALLED ME EARLIER AND HE SAID YES BUT HE WAS TOLD TO GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION. SO I CALLED 317-800-7079 AND THE MAN WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE TOLD ME THAT THE MAN WHO CALLED ME IS THE MOVER AND HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS TELLING ME THAT STORY. SO HE TELLS ME TO CALL BACK IN 15 MINUTES. WHEN I CALLED BACK, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE MOVER DID NOT WANT TO DO THE JOB BECAUSE IT WAS TOO FAR. APPARENTLY THE MOVER LIVED IN AVON AND I LIVED SOUTHEAST INDY. THEN I WAS TOLD HE WOULD GET ME SOMEONE TO COME OUT AND I TOLD HIM THAT I ONLY HAD MY TRUCK UNTIL 6PM SO I NEEDED SOMEONE TO COME ASAP. HE SAID HE WOULD CALL ME BACK IN 5 MINUTES, AND I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. ALL MY CALLS WERE FORWARDED TO VOICEMAIL OR RANG AS A BUSY SIGNAL. SO I LEFT HIM A PRETTY NASTY VOICEMAIL AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF REPEAT CALLING TO THE 317-800-7079 (AND TO THE 1-800-396-1496 WHICH BOTH RANG TO THE SAME PERSON) AND TOLD HIM I NEEDED MY MONEY BACK AND STILL TO THIS DAY HE WILL NOT ANSWER MY PHONE CALLS OR HAVE I GOTTEN MY MONEY BACK. I ENDED UP HAVING TO PAY $250 FOR SOMEONE TO MOVE ME WITHIN A CERTAIN TIME FRAME I HAD THE TRUCK FOR. WHICH WASN'T ALL THAT BAD CONSIDERING I HAD BUDGETED FOR THAT AMOUNT ANYWAY BUT THOUGHT I WOULD SAVE MONEY BY GOING WITH STAR MOVERS. BUT THEY ALWAYS SAY YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! TRUST AND BELIEVE THAT IF YOU GO WITH THESE PEOPLE, THEN YOU WILL NOT ONLY LOSE MONEY, YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...NOTHING!! THIS IS JUST A HEADS UP!! I FILED A DISPUTE WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND HAVE EVEN SPOKEN WITH AN ATTORNEY WHO SAID THAT NOT ONLY COULD I GET MY MONEY BACK FROM THEM, BUT THEY ARE LIABLE NOW FOR THE WHAT IT COST ME TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO MOVE ME. SO LOOKS LIKE I MAY COME OUT AHEAD ANYWAY. BECAUSE I TRIED TO CALL EVERYONE ON CL BUT NO ONE WOULD ANSWER THEIR PHONE OR THEY WERE BOOKED. IT WAS A BIG HEADACHE AND A MESS UNTIL I FOUND THE TWO MEN THAT I EVENTUALLY GOT TO MOVE ME. AND THEY DID ME RIGHT! DO NOT MESS WITH STAR MOVERS!!!!!
I hired this company March 17th and paid them a deposit. THis was to be for movers on the 19th of March. Well needless to say they never showed, didn't answer their phone and as of the writing of this have not returned my call , sent me an email or made any attempt to refund my money! I had to find another company who moved me with no problem. Do Not conduct business with this company. You will end up waiting all day and scrambling at the last minute to find reliable movers. Star Movers is unreliable, unprofessional and thieves.
