I rented a one bed room apartment i was told it was a nonsmoking building, when i moved in everyone smoked on my floor and when asked about it they said when they moved in it wasn't a nonsmoking building,
I got engage while i was living there after 2 years when I tried add my fiance to the lease they said no, could i have an extra key they said no, they also said she could park in visitor parking but they would not rent me an extra space for her,
never missed a rent or late,
after i moved out the send me a bill for 1100+ for cleaning,
I cleaned the place before i left,
they are BULLIES at that property stay far from them.
Do you live in a Stanbar property? Have you been told you will be evicted if you have a dog (cats are allowed)? This company bullies the elderly people whom live in their buildings. They have created crazy building rules. For example, if you have a dog, even a visiting dog, you need to pick him/her up once you enter the building. And then, even though you might be 70 you must not have the dog in the elevator. You must only bring him/her up to your unit via the stairs. Even in 85 degree weather. You must only enter through the rear of the building, not the lobby. Even if you obey all of these crazy and illegal rules you will be harassed by the building managers. All of their rules are in direct contrevention of the Ontario Landlord Tenant Board however elderly people are afraid of breaking rules, even illegal rules. Pets provide solace and comfort to many and this clear violation by Stanbar properties of the provincial laws is beyond deplorable.
I applied recently with all the necessary documents and payment, have no credit problems, proof of sufficient funds, senior. I answered all the questions asked, no pets, only person to live in apartment, non smoker. I got a call for Maureen, asking why I wanted to move, I explained the circumstances at my building are terrible with construction for the next 18 months. I was told the committee was to vote. I received a phone call, the answer was NO!!!! I was shocked and asked why? The person refused to give me an answer, kept shouting my name, very rude, said send a letter to ask why. I'm a beginner when it come to renting, owned a home for 32 years. This was shocking to me, not only to be abruptly turned down, but no reason, and rude conduct.
visitor bicycle parking rules change with every manager
They have no signs in their Burlington properties indicating that there is bicycle parking for visitors and with the last 3 managers the verbal rules where one can park a bicycle have changed 3 times!
Once, I even attempted to park on public property in front of their building and was promptly told I had to move my bicycle.
When I asked them for their written rules, none were provided and when I asked for their email to diarize this problem with them, I was told they only use telephones (because they know it is illegal to keep a voice recording of what was said without the consent of the other party), clearly to obscure any attempts at holding them accountable.
I also sent them a registered letter to the manager but never received an acknowledgement or reply.
It is surprising how they still find hapless victims to pay them rent for being oppressed and abused.
