Just recently hired this sleazy stager Kate to stage our home. Wow what a train wreck. She acts so timid and claims to be so talented at designing a space to sell your home. Let me tell you how it all went down. First she came in to see our home and she was late. We waited for her 45 extra minutes, she claimed there was traffic but on google maps it was clearly all ok with no congestion in sight. We watched her from our house smoking a cigarette around the corner and drinking a coffee before she came in. She reeked of smoke, didn't even acknowledge me and looked only at me neighbor assuming he was my husband. After he explained to her that she needed to talk to me she then
said no need because she just needed to take a few pictures and then she will be leaving and will follow up with a emailed quote by the end of the day. Two days late no quote was received from her, I called to follow up and of course she didn't answer. Several hours later I get a text from her asking if I called. I texted back and asked if she sent the quote as she stated she would, her reply was that she would send it later that night. The next morning I checked my email and sure enough I had received the quote from her. Her PRICING is on the HIGH side in comparison with other local staging companies. We checked out her work that she gave examples of and were not
impressed but unfortunately decided to go with her only because the other stagers were all booked up. We then emailed her that we wanted to proceed and have her stage our home. She said she would send over a contract via email and she would stop by to pick up a check several days before staging our home. We were extremely nervous to pay in advance because she only wanted a check and she wanted it written in her name not the company name. It was for several thousand dollars and it didn't feel right. We called her and told her that we would be more comfortable paying after the home was staged. She said she did not operate that way and if she didn't get payment
in advance that she wouldnt be able to reserve the date. We felt that it might be worth the risk only because there weren't many other options for other stagers at the time. Reluctantly we paid in advance as she requested. The day of the staging we got super nervous because she said that staging would start late morning and at 2pm she still was a no show. We called her close to 10 times that morning and she didn't answer. We texted and still no response back. When we were about to give up and call the bank to stop payment on the check she finally texted back at 2:25pm saying that she was on the way. Per her contract agreement she doesn't want anyone on the job site while she is
putting furniture in our home so when she arrived with her mover we decided to leave and let her do her job. We were on pins and needles at this point. She showed up with a drug addict looking helper. I was beyond frighted by their appearance and extremely worried at all the possibilities that something could go wrong but I left anyways and hoped for the best. Later in the evening I got a text from her saying that she will be coming the next day to finish the staging. I was shocked because my realtor had scheduled a photographer to come in the next morning to picture the house. I reminded her of that and she claimed i never told her that there would be photos the next day. She said the
best she could do is finish staging by 4pm the following day. I quickly got in touch with the realtor and she had to pull some favor to delay the photographer till that time. This was turning in to a horror show. I couldn't sleep at all that night. The next morning I went to the house to see the progress and it was a war zone. Boxes and tarps and tools scattered everywhere. Furniture was upside down lamps and decorations set on stairs and counters. I was so frightened it looked as if i was robbed. I called Kate in a panic and classic she didn't answer at 10am. I was about to call the police and she texted saying she was on the way and would arrive in 40 minutes. I told her that i was at the
house and it looked chaotic and she said she know and not to worry because she will have it done by 4pm. I stayed at the house the rest of the day and did some yard work while she was in the house moving things around. The time was 4pm and the realtor showed up with the photographer and of course the home was not ready. We went in side and told Kate we can help her to finish because the photographer was on a schedule and couldn't stay long. She had boxes everywhere and we carried loose thing in the garage so we could get photos. This was a disaster. The furnishings were old and tacky with stains. I confronted her about the situation and she instantly so snappy saying i
had no say in the selection of the staging and she was the professional with years of experience. I asked is she would switch some of the art because it was distasteful and she immediately replied no.
