I have used a mobile app called cashapp before to send money to a friend, with no problem. On march 5th or 6th, 2021, i sent money to another person, at least i thought i did, when somehow their system transmitted to another person with a totally different receiving code number than the person it was intended for had. A code came back to my mobile phone with a series of numbers and letters that i did not recognize. It was unclear if that group of digits and letters represented a confirmation code, or the cashapp account number of the recipient. In any case, if it was the recipient, i did not enter that.

There was a provision within the app for customer service. The details were entered and sent in. A response was received which suggested that i request a refund from the person who received the $20. I have no idea who that was, but proceeded to follow their suggestion.

As expected, no reply came from several requests. The company rep said that they do not issue refunds. To me, this is a scam and i wanted people to know about it via scamion.com years ago, a company that hid among po boxes and vacant offices used a scheme to defraud my company. The fbi and icc Interstate commerce commission) and local police were notified and complaints filed with each of those government agencies. It was scamion's carrying the complaint that caught the attention of that fraudulent company's attorney. A refund check arrived days after. Thank you, scamion.com for making that happen. It was in the thousands of dollars "fraud by wire"/interstate at that!

This cashapp loss is only $20. However, i wonder how many others are caught in this maze.

I provide short term vacation rental studio and list my unit on Airbnb as well as Booking.com. When ever someone books through Booking.com I have to process the credit card myself. We do not have a check in counter to meet our guests and swipe their credit card upon arrival so I ask my guests to provide their ID and credit card (only last 4 digits showing) to verify that the names match (Reservation, ID and Credit card). I then manually key in the charge and forward our guests check in insturctions with their own personal 4 digit code to enter the rental. One of my guests stayed back in August. 3 months later she submits a chargeback to her credit card stating she knows nothing about the charge. Square notified me that I needed to submit proof that this was a valid charge to dispute the chargeback. I submitted the rerervations details with the terms, dates, rules, etc from the Booking.com site as well as a copy of her credit card and ID that she provided me. I even submitted additional correspondence that we had before and during her stay at my studio. Square said the credit card company sided with her and therefore they were taking back the $390.00. I called back to Square and asked for all the proof (correspondence) from her credit card company to Square as I was going to forward it to Booking.com. Booking.com says they never have any problems fighting chargebacks and they think Square did not process the dispute properly. Square says they have no correspondence to forward to me as it is all done internally through the computer. I call foul play. Even IF there was a chance that someone stole the credit card and ID and made a reservation in that name I as a business should not be held liable for fraudulent use of a credit card card if I did my due diligence in verifying the information all matched. Square should not deduct the balance from me. How can an online business survive if everyone can just charge what they want and then say they know nothing about it. There should be business protections built into the fees we pay for using the credit card processing in the first place. I could understand if I had not done due diligence in verifying the credit card, ID and name on reservation all matched. So warning: DO NOT USE SQUAREUP FOR YOU CREDIT CARD PROCESSING. Use someone else. I am going to do research to find out which credit card processing company stands behind their business parters.

We use square to take credit card payments on an ad hoc and infrequent basis. On 10/1/19, Square sent an email stating that due to unusual activity they were suspending all payment to us. They stated they needed more information about the company and I supplied that information via the website as requested.

Now they have advised that they need even more information including bank and financial statements. I do not feel the request is appropriate. We are billing others; we are not the payor, we are the payee. The service they provide is strictly as an intermediary for us to accept credit cards which they so for a fee. Our bank statements or financial statements are actually none of thier business.

Currently Square is holding $9,539.31 since 10/2/19. I have sent numerous emails and inquiries via the website with no responses. There isn't a phone number on their website or even an email address. Sometimes you get lucky and a form pops up that allows you to ask a question, but again, I have never received any type of response.

On march 3rd a man claiming to be with cash app support hacked my cash app account and stole my money in the ammount of 1195.38. on march 4th 1207.90 was credited back to my cash app cash card.

i was told by cash app they will be reimbursing me for due to they found my account had been compromised by 3rd party. they have not done so and no longer responding to my emails.

  • Dec 18, 2018

Cash app stole over $1K out of my account. They did this over multiple transactions. They will acknowledge the fraud but tell you that the can only reimburse under Google paycard and require you to have money on the card to do it giving them access to more funds. They have hit my checking account multiple times claiming I disputed a charge that I did not. I only got in touch with someone after I looked up how to take them to court which means they are trolling your account. My checking account is still compramised until this nightmare is done in dispute. These theives need to stopped!

I refund 3 charges of 201 to credit cards and 150 and 101 to accounts. Square refunded them as well from my account after i already refunded them. Took it from my account without my permission. Took an additional 350+ dollars from my account as well. Refuse to give any money back to me. I owe my bank almost 800 dollars because what square did. They created disputed on my account to get these funds. Their also keeping my 300+ dollars in my account on hold because im fighting with them about them stealing my money. Refuse to pay me back or answer to my bank. They shut all 3 of my accounts down for absolutely no explanation or reasoning. Every time i called to make a complaint they immediately hung up on me. They need to be shut down and pay everyone back that they stole from.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING SQUARE!!!! LOOK AT THE COMPLAINTS!!!! GOOGLE WHAT THEY DO TO PEOPLE!!!!

I own a small handyman business and my transactions vary from anywhere around $10 to $500, yeah thats it. I've been using the square app on my iPhone to process these transactions and now they're holding a little over $500 of my money and wont process the transactions. They have already had me refund one transaction that was o$500 because they wouldn't pay it so now I look like an idiot and unprofessional to the customers because I had to explain to them why I refunded their money to their perfectly good credit card and I have to ask for a check or cash. Nobody uses the either anymore and they now look like well if you can't get your credit card acceptance right why would I trust you with my cash. I painted a ladys house who was nice enough after me explaining that Square needed this gave me a copy of her ID, and a copy of her credit card (front and back) and told me to have them call her to verify the transaction. I provided all this to Square. Including everything in the world that I can muster. I can't get my money but more importantly my business that relies on word of mouth because I am really really small maybe two or three jobs a month small. Squareup.com(Square) advertises that there is no dollar amount limit to swiped transactions and that they will have the money deposited within 24 hours. This is a LIE!!!!! Here is their reply to one of my emails to them:

For payments that haven’t been deposited (generally in the last few days), you may consider having your customer pay you by another method (cash, check, etc.) and refunding the payment(s) back to the original payment card(s). The full payment amount will be returned to your customer. Refunds can be issued within 120 days of the original payment date. To learn more about issuing refunds, please visit here.

We apologize for this inconvenience, but our decision is final.

So I requested Square refund MY money to the customer. Even though I already painted her house so somewhere between here and 4 months she may get it back. Then she may pay me in another method after that. But she will never use me again and she will never recommend me to anyone else. This is just so damaging to my business. Before I got this lovely response from them they had me fill out a lot of useless information, from invoices to ads I placed. I gave them copies of my ID and bank statements and just basically sitting somewhere on this company's computer is my entire life story. I sent them so much information. My question is this... Why would I have to split transactions if there is no limit to swiped tranactions? And why don't they have a number for customer support? It's like pulling teeth trying to get a response through email from them because they aren't in any hurry at all!! Save yourself the stress, headache, business loss and anxiety!!! DON'T USE SQUARE!! This company is RIPPING EVERYONE OFF!!! Please read the reviews Google Square and look at what people are saying. I wish I would have.

Also they toute am A+ rating with the BBB. But I filed a complaint with the BBB and I am looking to file with the California AG about the BBB who gives them an A+ rating with 94% Negative reviews and over 1600 un resolved complaints? Who does that. Now I dont trust the BBB anymore!

"We're sorry to inform you that we are deactivating your account. We reviewed your account and found that your business is prohibited by Section 3 of the Payment Terms and/or Section 4 of the General Terms, which means we cannot accept payments related to your business."

Problem is, checking those terms one cannot find where I went afoul.

This was out of the blue and meanwwhile web services for my web only company came to a screeching halt until I secured another vendor. Which happened.

The only possible correlation I could think of was an on going tussle with support over them not sending me

accurate transaction confirmation info. Literally using an email address where a name should be used. Support kept insisting I was using a mobile app but , the usage was via a 3rd party s/w platform WIX, specifically Wix 123 Forms. They were completely confused

Either support got annoyed OR they didnt like me pointing out a serious flaw, something way outside of accepted accounting practices and not auditable.

I was fine with leaving, but not abruptly and without just cause. This cost, what is for me, a lot of money. Just not enough to get lawyers involved.

SO, if you use Square to run payments, be advised that they may cancel you at whim and recourse is virtually nil.

Try calling them, you cannot without a user code given on site. But once cancelled, you cannot get on the site.

Luckliy I have all monies due , unlike some others Ive read on here.

I have been using Square for a few years with no problems however I made payments to two accounts. Several days have gone by and neither account has received their money so I went online to sign on my account and received this message;

Payment card processing permanently deactivated.

SQUARE'S SELLER AGREEMENT"

I never received any notification in advanced that my account was deactivated or why. When I try to call no one ever picks up and it only tells you to sign onto your account to get a customer code but I can't get a customer code because when they deactivated my it states that I can't call customer service because of the account being deactivated and I can only email them.

I never received a refund and I'm out of $462 of my SSDI money.

Where is my money? It hasn't been refunded nor has it been posted to the accounts i paid into. It's just in limbo with no explanation.

I will never use this company again

Been using Square since December of 2010. Never had even one issue until July 19th, 2017.

Collecting payment from a customer (while telling them how cool and easy it is to use the square device) and then get a error saying my account is no longer linked to my device.

Embarrassing, and for a first time customer giving me their personal information does not help with building the trust you need to stay and expand your business. But just thinking in my head it must be a glitch. Get back to the office and log in to my square account and see the message ...

"Payment card processing permanently deactivated."

And a link. I click on the link and it's their terms of service. But it's the whole document, not the section they may (or may not) be claiming I violated. No email stating what I did wrong and as the account has been deactivated I am no longer able to get the code you need to call and talk to them.

So sent an email and just keep getting a canned reply that the account is deactivate and I can not do anything about it.

So your cut off from being able to run cards with no notice and no recourse whatsoever.

I am out the discount I had to give my customer for not being able to take the credit card I said I would upfront, I am out 3 days of trying to contact a real person at square and the time I had to take to setup with a new company to run my credit card sales.

In almost 7 years with this company I never had refund issued or a chargback. Perfect record and I don't even get to talk to a person?

No business can afford to have their clients payments rejected for no reason, with no communication and no way to get a hold of a live person to correct whatever the issue may be. They got my back account numbers, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. And offer no way to get in contact with them? Really bad business. Have an issue and ignore your customer??? If your with them now make sure you have a 2nd way to take cards. And if your not with them, stay far away!

  • Jul 19, 2017

One day without notice they just shut off my company account on a Thursday, day before payday. They said my business was fraudulent.. excuse me?!? We work 10 times harder than you do, we make an honest living can you honestly say that?!? When you try and contact them, they won't give you the code to call. They blocked me from Facebook cause I was ruining their future business, stealing from others. Special place in hell for companies like this!! Be careful and cautious. Read the fine print. They will ileagally hold your money for their gain. The coward owner also owns twitter and sits in the board of all places... Disney world. Be cautious. Read everything. Merchants account at your local bank would be better than this company ripping you off.

This is my complaint I sent to BBB - Better Busimess Bureau.

I do not know how this company still in business. I started using Square like a moth ago, the first week I did 3 transactions for 3 new customers, they locked my account and put it under review and send me an email asking to upload some documents to verify my business so I did, they lifted the hold on my account saying that was a one time thing. The week after I did 2 more transactions "2 new customers" they did the exact same thing. So I did provided them with all documents needed to fix the problem. Couple of days later I did 1 transaction for a new customer, next day no deposit... So I called them they said that it was a mistake that they will contact that department to take the hold off, a couple of minutes later I was in my account and tried to contact them to see if everything was ok and they blocked my call option.

No way to contact them, only via email but this was on July 11, 2017 and no email or explanation from them, and they are holding $6k+ of my money. This needs to stop, somebody needs to hear us and take action... The collected their fees, the have their money and hold ours for no reason at all. Square can't be playing around with honest and hard working people's money like that. Scam, White collar thieves!

After tellimg my Aunt about this app that we can take payments and withdraw instantly for a small fee or free for 3 business days for services we offer after a trial maybe we can use permanently. I owed her 450$ so i told her ill do it infront of you and we can watch how great this ap would be for us . After depositing 450$ into her cash ap from mine it said pending for hours i felt frantick so i startd doing resear h it appears they have no phone number wich is alarm #1 then afyer reading reviews # 2 i started to panic . I emailed them for hours and finally they "canceled " my payment although they offer instant transfers they said it would take 3 -5 business days ??? WHY ???? So after more research i seen others never got their lost transactions ! I had an anxiety attack . My aunt is extremely uset with me . She is so worried she wants to go close her account from fear we are now exposed to some scammers . Im pissed.

My 6000$ has been locked with SQUARE, even after providing very personal info which may be used by theives or internet scammers. These guys need to get a class action lawsuit against them seriously !

They have been forcing me to provide extremely personal business information and personal information in order to get paid. I say extremely personal because they want multiple government issued IDs, copies of past invoices, my bank statements going back several months, and a lot more non-sense. I feel forced to give them whatever information they are asking for since they are holding up my funds ! I will obviously terminate any relationships with this nightmare company. Just going to use paypal from now on, like I have always done.

hi i have recently been on ofe squareup.com recent victims the company is owned by a twitter founder they process sales mainly in america and japan but recently entered the uk market and as suspected SCAM! i set up the account and as they like to advertise next day settlement i processed a few client payments and when it came to settlement time i received the deffered funds email stating that they want me to upload documents supplier agreements eg which i did yesterday didnt hear anything so i called in and received this email in response!

when wil it end these companies just let you process a little bit then dont pay you and withold the money for 90 to 180 days which of course they earn interest on which is clearly there main income if they hold a million peoples average of a thousand pounds at 4 percent interest well you do the math i cant get my head round how this is allowed to go on i have no customer complaints and no reason to be closed down and funds witheld i will attach there emails on here

I decided to do an Internet Marketing program to make money from home. A friend of mine said to get a Square for accepting credit card payments. I downloaded Square on my laptop and phone. They told me that my bank account had been verified successfully, but that I had to fill out some verification information to secure my account. I gave them a copy of my drivers license and also an invoice that they had requested. This was my first sale of $1,000 from a new prospect. Immediately after I did the verification process, they send me another email that said I was rejected because of suspicious activity on my transactions. I only made 1 sale, so I only had one deposit into my Square account.

Then they told me that my account has been terminated indefinitely and that it would take 90 days to get my money back unless I want to apply for a refund, which may take 60 days. They also took $35.15 out of my $1,000 credit card payment, so when I went to look at the balance, it went down to $964.85.

I called Verizon because I thought they were affiliated with Square, but they said they are not. You cannot get a live person anywhere. You can't even leave an email with these people. I left the email in their return the product section, explaining my plight and requesting my money back. My prospect tried to cancel the transaction through her credit card company, but they said to file a dispute. I told her she didn't have to do that and that I would deal with these people.

Is it legal for someone to freeze up your money for 60 or 90 days? Is it right when you only had one transaction and they say that they closed your account because of suspicious transactions? This place is not on the up and up and needs to be shut down. Make sure they give me my money back first before you do that. Please investigate these people. They are ripping people off by making them feel that they are not credit worthy enough to do business with them. Who the hell are they? This is total BS. Please, please make sure that they don't rip off any more people with their scam!

I applied for an account with Square and was approved immediately. I have a home-based business. After almost a year, they closed my account with no explanation. I had over $700 in deposits that they told me would be held for 90 days. 90 days has come and gone. If your account is closed they will NOT take your call without a number that you need to punch in from your account. You only get email support if your account has been shut down, There customer service SUCKS!!! I have receieved emails with all different responses. I have just about had it with them and ready to get a lawyer to get my money. Stay away from this rip off company. Not worth the aggravation.

Square sounds like a good compnay but there practices are runing small companies. they dont tell why your account can be closed for specific reasons. they should a comlete guide line to there rules and what make your company high risk. they deactivated my account with no pre warning leaving my shop not able to process and payments having to tell my customers to go get cash. then when your on there black list which is the deactivated list you can not talk to a rep anymore. its alomost like they are waiting for the next victom aka small business to load up so much money and then they deactivate there account so they can hold funds in ther bank so they can make there accounts look more then what it is i know it benifits them for share holders purpose but dont take advantage of the small businesses to help you make your company look better for the share holders. Back to my personal problem which i see other have here as well my account was shut down sep 15th no reason no chargebacks nothing. i emailed them ans asked since you closed my account when will my 12k be released they sent me an email with a Date of Dec 14th 2016 that day has come and gone and now that the day has passed i have been emailing them and now no response like the first two times, look lke to me there planning to keep my funds as well cause now i have not gotten any response back since my date has come and gone there actually ignoring my questions of when will they release my funds im hoping that my compliant can help others and myself to help those who have funds held up to get there funds. i warn any one if your are using square for small micro payments under 100.00 your safe but if your doing larger payments i WARN you FULLY DONT DO IT. any one who chooses to use square i have a worthless square chi reader for sale SIC im going to trash my 150.00 reader just so maybe mail it to them broken up.

  • Dec 1, 2016

My facility started using square about 1 year ago. Recently, out of the blue they requested a copy of 3 months bank statements and a government issued ID. I submitted the requested item's thinking they were simply doing an annual review of some sort. Well, that wasn't the case. Two days later I received an email alert from them stating that my account was permanently deactivated. I have never had a chargeback, dispute, refund, or any of the things processor's frown upon. In addition, my industry type is not high risk. I tried to contact them via email for an explanation over and over with no response from them other than them stating their decision was final. This is of cource after I purchased their square processing sytem. Ipad, stand, chip reader, etc... I'm pretty much stuck with these things that are not compatible with other pos systems. Unbelievable! They are holding my clients funds for 90 days. I am unable to refund them as well as provide service's they paid for. Square's actions should be illegal. They should be held accountable for their actions. I strongly advise businesses to stay as far away from them as possible.

PLEASE SHARE SO OTHERS ARE WARNED WARNING DO NOT USE SQUARE FOR CREDIT CARD PROCESSING!!! THEY WILL CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT AND STEAL YOUR FUNDS. I GOT AN EMAIL THAT STATED THEY WANTED INFORMATION ON MY ACCOUNT. THIS INCLUDED NORMAL STUFF LIKE EIN, TYPE OF BUSINESS, ECT. I EMAILED THEM ALL THE INFORMATION INCLUDING RECEIPTS FOR SALES. THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY CONSIDER IT HIGHT RISK (WHATEVER THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE). BUT NOT ONLY DO THEY DO THAT THEY SAY THEY ARE HOLDING MY $2017 FOR 120 DAYS. THEY ALSO DISABLED MY SUPPORT SO I CAN NOT CONTACT ANYONE. MY NEXT STEP IS TO CONTACT MY ATTORNEY GENERAL BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS CAN BE LEGAL OR ETHICAL AGAIN DO NOT USE Square

  • Oct 7, 2016

I signed up for Square which is a credit card Merchant, i received the reader in the mail and i went through the process of verifying my bank account, they deposited in .49 cents and withdrew the same amount. At that time they told me i was clear to process and that i would recieve the deposits the next day now i ran a payment over a week ago and they have yet to give me my money, and you cannot get a live rep on the phone. Also have an email address that they do not respond to. I now see they have a class action suit against them i wish i would have seen it before i purchased the reader and ran ran $160.00 payment for my company now i am out $210.00 these people are low life scumbags that need to be stopped.

  • Jul 29, 2016

Absolutely ludicrous experience thus far with this company, I fear I should have never used these swindlers. So, my account was deactivated, I had only one $88 charge back.

I had my account closed, all my money held, as mentioned roughly $7,500 for 90 days. Rough, but whatever, I understand there could be customer charge backs, anyways there was no further charge backs and yet on the day the were to deposit my sales they send an email saying,

" Due to the recent charge backs on your account, any funds currently in your Square account will be held for an additional 60 days. Thank you for understanding. Sincerely,Square Account Services." Chargebacks on your account?!? I have had charge back on the account - as in only one.

They have the nerve to thank you for understanding? I don't know what they are smoking???

I am starting to think I may have to settle this in court and sue them for damages on top of what they owe me. Never would I recommend this company to anyone, what a waste of time money and resources. ABSOLUTELY NO customer support, live chat, or 1800 #'s.

No response from the emails I have sent either. Absolutely shocking that a business can do this to a small business owner! 1 charge back of 88$ doesnt required $7500 to be held. Not to mention its been held 90 days and no new charge backs came through. I should have the majority of my money back, It's just disgusting how they treat their customers.

Exact Same Thing Here and too other thousands of merchancts

EXACTLY...AND I MEAN EXACTLY..What happened to me. 90day started may 7th they send august 8th would be released. on august 9th i email them asking if deposit was sent and then i got the letter you got. I actually got the email address of one of their lawyers, and have been going back and forth at it with him for the past month.

(I am not a lawyer, but at 24 was head accountant at a pasadena law firm, 28 now...so needless to say...Im one of those types who knows wtf their talking about when their talking about something)

My business that I registered with square, has been paying taxes federally since 2012, and is registered with LA County... so not just some email and website kind of business..

Anyways, I have a lot of documentation of their illegal conduct and know why they are doing it...

Question - for that 1 charge back... did they cover it under their chargeback protection?

As of September, I am still combing through all of the legistics and inter-workings of how square works and was built from the inside. By that i mean, their company structure...Im at 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week for the past 5 weeks getting this put together, type of serious.

The next major thing, which ive just started tackling, is not getting enough of us together or getting the word out... ITS HOW TO PROPERLY ORGANIZE ALL OF US AND ORGANIZE AND STORE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION THAT WILL ACCUMULATE AS A LARGE GROUP. THE DOCUMENTATION OF COURSE WOULD BE LIKE : ALL OF USE WILL BE SUBMITTING INTO, LETS CALL IT, "OUR EVIDENCE POOL" EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE.

WELL THEN, WE WOULD WANT TO QUICKLY AND AUTO-GENERATED, BE ABLE TO PRODUCE STATISTICS, LIKE THE AVERAGE TIME BETWEEN A RESPONSE FROM SUPPORT..OR HOW MANY TIMES DOES SQUARE USE A KEYWORD OR PHRASE WHICH ALWAYS LEADS TO THE ACT OF SOMETHING ELSE AND CLEARLY KNOWN DECEPTION... etc ...

HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET SOME IDEAS FROM OTHERS ON HOW BEST TO GROUP TOGETHER

Square, Inc. Committed Fraud! Do Not Use Them!

Back on Saturday, April 30th, 2016, I used my American Express Credit Card to pay my contractor $20,000.00 for a job that has Not Been Finished!

The way that I paid for this amount of money was by receiving an Invoice that my contractor sent to ME, however, Square, Inc.

is the actual company that Charged My Credit Card and is the Same Company that is Responsible For Transferring My Money To Whoever I Wish To Pay which In My Case Was NEVER DONE!

I have waited Very Patiently For MY MONEY to be transferred to Mr. Justin Rivas, the Contractor and at least 18 Days Went By and Square, Inc. Deliberately and Purposely REFUSED TO TRANSFER OVER THE MONEY!

This Unprofessional and Dishonest Company was Illegally Holding My Money In Their Own Internal Account 100% Against My Will And Without My Legal Permission, Consent, Nor Authorization!

What Square, Inc. Has Committed Was FRAUD!

I can NOT tell you and reiterate on just How Many Times I Have Contacted The Horrible Square, Inc. No Customer Service Phone Number Of: 1-855-700-6000 to find out Why They Are Not Sending MY MONEY OVER TO MR. JUSTIN RIVAS, THE CONTRACTOR!

Guess What Their Response Is? Answer: We Can NOT Discuss This Issue With You and Can Only Talk To Mr. Justin Rivas About It!

My Response: That Does Not Make Any Sense Since It Was Me Who Initiated The $20,000.00 Payment To Begin With and It Was Done With My American Express Credit Card Which Is In My Name, NOT HIS!

Square, Inc.'s Customer Service Department did absolutely Nothing To Assist Me, Nor Help Me!

Furthermore, I did speak to Mr. Justin Rivas about it and he also called them many times ONLY to receive a Runaround, Lies and Mind Games stating that he did Not Fill Out The Paperwork Properly, or that he Needs To Resend Some Of The Same Documents Over And Over.

Even though he did as he was told, Square, Inc. still REFUSED TO SEND THE $20,000.00 DOLLARS OVER TO MR. JUSTIN RIVAS, THE CONTRACTOR!

I was so Angry and Pissed Off over this Type Of Abuse Coming From Square, Inc. that I tried to call their Customer Service Department back again and Dispute The Money and Have It Go Back To My American Express Credit Card and this is What Their Customer Service Screwed Up Department Told Me!

Square, Inc. Customer Service's Response: They told me that they can NOT Dispute The $20,000.00 for ME On My Behalf (Even Though I Am The Payer) and said that I need to contact American Express To Dispute It!

Well they are also 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SINCE THEY TOOK MY $20,000.00 ILLEGALLY AND COMMITTED FRAUD BY HOLDING MY MONEY IN ONE OF THEIR INTERNAL ACCOUNTS WITHOUT SENDING IT TO MR. JUSTIN RIVAS AS IT STATES ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT!

Square Inc does NOT care about, nor protect the Merchants to who pay their fees and bills!

We are a health practitioner's office who sadly encountered a disgruntled client who told her visa/bank she was due a refund on a wellness package she used but woke up one day on the wrong side of the bed. We provided our signed receipt - THROUGH SQUARE - stating "no refunds, credit only" AND pages of signed contracts stating the same.

We have been informed by Cameron in Dispute Services "we are in contract with all major credit card companies that they have the final say". So apparently it doesn't matter the merchant provided signed contracts in many forms. Now we are told there is no recourse but to go sue her. So what's the point of having customers sign paperwork if your own merchant services company won't defend you? OR worse yet, gets the information required and allows the disgruntled party to get their money back no matter what? DO NOT USE SQUARE! They seem all good till some freak decides to want money back and not be accountable for the contracts they signed.

today we went back to our vet and told them we wanted our money back because we didn't like their diagnosis or assessment of our dog's health. They laughed in our face and escorted us out. DO NOT USE SQUARE!

This company is a great rip off artist! A vendor swiped my card for a down payment on a vehicle and then the vendor never got the monies credited to his account. Four months later, still the vendor never got his monies and square cannot or will not offer any explanation. They have a FB page and it was the only way to contact them via messenger there. Very rude, uncooperative jerks. Basically told me to go F myself, that they are untouchable and too bad , " Sucks being you then, eh?" No phone numbers to call, etc. Any company that hides their contact info is questionable. Also, would not reveal an address or phone to any legal dept they have so my atty can try to get my monies back. The CC company closed my dispute as having no basis and proved beyond any dount that they sent monies to Square and that square would not reply to any inquiries and refused to tell them the status of the monies in question. So I have to pay a bill for something I never got , thank you Square! Who is this company that can do whatever they want and even rob people without any fear of reproach? Why is it that the state prosecutor , a personal friend of the founder of square, is able to block and remove any attempts for anyone to complain to the AG office under his direction? How does a company manage to keep hidden and even to rip people off and never have a single worry of any repercussions?

We activated our account on Nov. 6 to begin using Square Reader for our in-person retail transactions. We processed a few transactions and everything seemed to be ok (Credit Card is processed, Square deducts their fees and deposits the verified funds to our linked and verified bank account).

Nov. 25 they began holding funds and sent an email stating: "To ensure the financial security of both you and your customers, we need to verify some information about your account." On Nov. 26th we provided Square with the following documents: Federal Tax ID, Seller's Permit, Bank Statement, Purchase Order, and 2 Sales Orders (verbally requested by Square). We contacted Square, virtually impossible, through a random phone hack that took us out of the loop and into a 2 hour hold for customer service. At that time, we were told that we have provided everything and more for their "Review Department" and there should be no problem with funds being deposited. So we continued to transact using Square Reader.

Nov. 30 received email that states: "We've received your completed form. We'll review your information and get back to you within 1-2 business days." You never speak to an actual representative and there is no way to call customer service like so many others have complained about.

Dec. 1 they deactivate our account stating: "transactions associated with high-risk". They don't tell you what high-risk means but the BBB complaint section mentions a small business artist with repeat customers that apparently sold "high-risk" paintings and they held their funds, so it's anybody's guess. The email continues: "Any funds currently in your account will be held for 90 days before being released to your linked bank account." We're talking operating capital for a small local business = SERIOUS TROUBLE! Also, when they deactivated our account the email they sent stated: "If you prefer to receive funds more quickly, you should consider refunding the payments back to the original cards and seeking alternate forms of payment." We kindly asked a few of our amazing customers if we could refund their purchase and seek alternative payment, as Square instructed us. We refunded $10K of the funds they were holding, as they suggested, and that should be reflected in the deposit they are holding for 90 days because those are the same transactions... On Dec. 3rd Square withdrew $10,000 from our bank account in addition to the funds they are holding which include the transaction they suggested we refund!!!

On top of that they illegally withdrew the funds per their own Sellers' Agreement Section 26 which states: "If your available balance is insufficient to cover the refund, Square will request your authorization to withdraw up to the requested refund amount from your bank account." Stay away from anything related to Square, Inc. and Jack Dorsey, unfortunately he's the new CEO of Twitter, good luck with that. Everything you read about them in the forums can't all be untrue if thousands of people are complaining about the same thing and have physical proof. If you value your business and your customers, avoid Square, Inc.

Like others on here, I am getting fraudulent charges and emails stating that a customer is disputing the charge. Unbelievably, I have no way of contacting Square. They have a customer service number that can only be reached after you sign in. I cannot sign in because my account has been compromised, and have not received a password change sent to my email despite 4 attempts over the last 3 days. I have tried filling out their online contact form 4 times and have received an email days later stating that someone has tried to reach me but got no answer. I have received no phone call. There is no customer service number for me to return. These fraudulent emails say they come from squareup.com. There is no contacting Square whatsoever, and they have my bank account number and all my personal information. DO NOT USE SQUARE!!! I received an mail stating there was a debit card added to my account, even though I don't own this debit card...and the fraudulent charge was made after that, but I am getting hit for it by Square...And Square gives me no customer name, nothing. Just the amount and date. It was made at 4am. My business is not open then. Obviously this is a red flag? USE PAYPAL!!!
