Sport Auto Group Sales & Leasing Reviews

Buyer beware here. My mistake was I was desparate to purchase a vehilce that day due to my car breaking down. This business is under new management owned by Don Mealey. Process began well, picked out a car and test drove it. Went inside with salesman to get numbers.

Was originally shown a set of numbers showing a price of around $9000 dollars, the salesman then stated that this was the wrong car and went to the desk and came back with a different set of numbers showing the price at $10000. (Flag #1) This vehicle did not have a price sticker on the window, I was told it was a mess up that there was no price sticker on this vehicle. (Flag #2) Came to a reasonable monthly payment agreement.

I did ask the salesman in front of the desk manager about the car fax history report and the manager behind the desk assured me the car fax was clean with no accidents. Salesman very anxious to get paperwork started and I had to ask four more times for the car fax. When he finally gave it to me I saw it had an accident reported on it.( Flag#3). Once again desperate to get a car that day I coninued with the process.

I was waiting to be called into the finance office for paperwork signing and I was on the website for the dealer and I saw that the vehicle I was purchasing was on the website listed for $9000 (flag #4). When it was my turn in the finance office I spoke with Eli and asked to see the original paperwork that I was shown with the price and he produced the one with the $10000 price on it. I questioned why am i being charged $10000 when the website says $9000? He could not answer and got the sales manager who came in and stated that due to my credit issues he was passing on the bank fees to me but did not disclose that, he just built it into the price. (flag #5). I used to sell vehicles and I advised him that I felt this was sneaky and should have been disclosed and negotiated if needed not just built into the price without telling me.

I continued with the paperwork signing and was quickly told by Eli to sign papers that were put in front of me and pulled away immediately. Most I am familiar with from my previous experience so I understood what I was signing. He had me quick sign a paper that looked like an exteneded warranty, he quick took it back and put it in the pile, I stopped signing and asked about it and he said yes its part of the deal (Flag #6). I asked to see the paper again and he handed it to me and it was a platinum warranty that costs $1500 that was never disclosed to me nor was I asked if I wanted it.(Flag #7) He stated that he did not put the deal together and agreed that as a normal and best practice the warranty choices and options should be presented to the buyer to see if they want to buy it and add it to the purchase price. Eli stated that without the warranty they would not make enoough profit on the sale which I know is not true because besides the mark up on the vehicle, they are allowed on the financing side to bump the rate up to 2% from the buy rate. Which means if a bank says that t the customer's credit has earned a 5% rate, dealers are allowed to present the customer with a 7% rate and it is not against the law and the dealer makes money off of the bump from the buy rate.

Bottom line is I had every intention of purchasing a warranty which I ended up doing, I just did not like that there was an attempt to work it in the deal without telling me.

If you go to this business be sure to do your research with the online pricing and get the car fax immediately, make sure the paperwork is accurate with the pricing and do not sign for anything that you did not agree to.
