I signed a contract with Shawn Mikell, supposed co-owner of Southern Elite Construction. He sent a crew of two men to my house to supposedly change water valves for both my bathrooms. They were 30 minutes late day one...no show the day 2, though due at 8:AM. Third day, after waiting past 9:30, I texted Mr. Mikell and told him he was fired. The guys showed up 20 minutes after that. I had planned to just let them finish out the day, which they quit at 3 PM or so, and I finally got in the room to see the destruction. No work. Just destruction and mess.
Mikell shows up with a load of this and that baseboard lumber and unloaded it in my garage. I assumed this was the material he had me make the deposit for. He's been told numerous times I expected my deposit refunded. The building supply picked up the material he brought. BTW, the building supply charged ME for the unwanted material. I kept only 4 strips of baseboard moulding which another carpenter has since used for my house. They picked up the rest. Mr Mikell had charged me for things that did not pertain in any way to my 2 projects. Hundreds of dollars worth that I was charged for, but were not delivered by him to me.
I HAVE to guess he kept them for use on his house or his other properties. And then charged them to ME.
Nice scam, huh? The state of Georgia needs to revoke his privileges to charge materials, and his contractor license. If he has one. He also did not pull permits to do the plumbing work...he knew he wasn't going to do it, I am sure. He's got a reputation of doing things exactly like this to other local people who have contacted me. But are too cowardly to report to the detective on my case. So far, that is. His men damaged tile on my bath wall and in my shower that is 50 years old, so irreplaceable. Chipped up 3 places in my bathtub. Will require more expense to fix to look nice. Yet more money I will be out.He scammed one local man who paid the full amount for project...then never showed up again. Mikell has a very bad reputation but no one's done anything to stop him. Yet.
