I worked for this company for 13 months, and not once was I given a break. We were told we could not take breaks, we could not leave our post (I was a rover, so my post was my car), we could not eat in the vehicles. This is highly illegal.
Unsanitary working conditions, not paying employees overtime, not giving employees breaks - or, in general, making up your own rules as you go along, suffering from ignorance of labor laws - or, as in the case with South Florida Security Group, completely disregarding the labor laws. This is par for the course with South Florida Security Group and it's founders, Andy L. Rodriguez and Rigo Perez.
It's kind of embarrassing when you're out promoting yourself in the community, and you get caught with your hand in the proverbial cookie jar, with your pants down, stealing from your employees, stealing their time, forcing them to work without breaks in unsanitary, disgusting, FILTHY conditions with roaches and roach feces, and then feigning ignorance over it.
You need to pay people what you owe them! Clean up your filthy, roach infested vehicles that you're forcing your employees to drive!! Give your employees their legally mandated breaks!! Your company should not operate as though it is some sweatshop in a foreign country and you should be ashamed of yourselves and how you treat your employees!!
When I spoke with Andy Rodriguez on the phone today, because he stole a week's worth of pay, he wanted to know who comes back from vacation and resigns. His exact question was, "Who does that?" in reference to me turning in my resignation due to the mistreatment I have received. I worked for his company for 13 months. After one year, according to their policy, I was due a week's vacation. I had to drive to their office (1 hour away), request my vacation, fill out a form, turn it in - and I was approved to take the vacation. When I returned from vacation, I turned in my resignation.
When I went to pick up my check today, I was told that they were not going to pay me for the vacation they approved because vacation pay is for "employees". Stupid. Ignorant. Unethical. Lacking in both honor and integrity. I WAS an employee when I took the vacation, which was approved. They are angry that I quit when I came back.
So we're clear,I'm going to answer that question "who does that?" for Andy Rodriguez. When you (1) mistreat your employees; (2) force them to work in unsanitary conditions by driving around in roach infested vehicles; (3) when they refuse to get in vehicles that are clearly infested you suspend them for a week; and (4) force them to work without breaks, sometimes as long as 15 hours, overnight (from 6pm until 9am the next morning!) with no shelter and only a folding metal chair to sit in for those 15 hours in 50 degree weather with residents coming and going the entire time. When I texted your company and I said that 15 hours was a long shift to work without a break, I was told that no one was coming to break me. Please tell me why you're shocked that someone would resign from your company? Wouldn't YOU? Tell me that anyone with an OUNCE of self-respect would willingly work under those conditions. THEY WOULD NOT!!!
This is a terrible company for which to work. The internet is filled with complaints about them and their business practices. What I am saying here is repeated everywhere. It is high time for South Florida Security Group to be held accountable for it's illegal and immoral business practices.
