Jose Gracia from South Bay Yacht Service came into our place of business (3/10/17). Placing an orde for an assembly and drain assembly kit. Not long after that we received a return check from our bank from Jose Gracia for his purchase.
We called asking Jose to come in and take care of the returned check with a bank fee ($529.68). Calling multiple times for him to come in and take care of it. Multiple excuse after excuse and still no resolve.
Now we are writing this review to let everyone know to NEVER do business with Jose Gracia, South Bay Yacht Service. His reputation and integrity are one of the most appalling excuses for a business and he's providing service to our boating community. As a company that should be running a business that can handle when problems arise and not make due on a $529.68 bounced check, should NOT be dealing with such expensive boats and yachts!!
You want a reputable company working on your boat not one that will take your money and run. Gives lies and excuses one after another!
We have partial resolve as of 7/24/17 in the amount of $250.00. But again couldn't come in on several occasions there after asking him to take care of his returned check balance of $279.68. Was told a day when he would come in but never showed up to take care of it and Jose even gave a date but never responded or showed up to take care of the balance $279.68 to make good.
Have only emailed him on and off now just to let him know we are still here and want our money.
Jose Gracia of South Bay Yacht Services (aka: BDR Marine ) has stolen my money, devalued my investment & breached his written financial arrangements.
SouthBay Yacht Service committed to a three warranty on a complete rebuild of a Detroit 12v92 engine with all new genuine factory parts. The engine failed with roughly 20 hours of use on the rebuild.
After learning of Jose Gracia's previous charges based on complaints from 16 seperate boatowners
I was told by the new mechanic that Jose used axle grease to seal my brand new heads which cost over $5000.00 and sealed the gaskets with household weather strip adhesive. This is certainly not factory rebuild procedure. Also, I learned that the 1st head to fail was approximatelty 20 years old (he sourced all the parts from his trusted vendor). Obviously, everything had to come back apart, replaced or rebuilt. The bill to correct his work is already over $15,000.00 & we are still far from getting it all verified & corrected. This whole ordeal has already taken 1.5 years to correct. It took him 6 months just to show up & complete the rebuild after having all parts prepaid. Obviosly, my expenses continue to ratchet up just from the boat sitting there inoperable.
Additionally, Jose Gracia charged me thousands of dollars for services that he never provided on both of my engines. This caused additional damage to my other engine. I had to pay to have it repaired in addition to the services I had aleady paid Jose to complete as preventative maintenance. Jose Gracia did reimburse some of these funds. Now he is using that partial return of my money (which occured before the one engine he rebuilt had even failed) as an excuse to no longer honor his commitment to pay for the rework on the engine he claimed to professionally rebuild (a commitment he verified last week but will no longer honor).
Please help me to work with Jose Gracia on a resolution. I would be happy to post that he has resolved the situation if he ever does & assuming your website permits it. There are numerous addresses for his business names but per Yahoo: 1319 Surfwood Ln, San Diego, CA 92154 The listed business # & his cell # are the same: 619-634-5426
