I paid for by credit card and downloaded microsoft office professional 2013 from softwareempire.com. Thge software installed but the key would not register online Seemed fishy) so i contacted microsoft via phone to get legit registration and was successful.
Two days later my computer internet browser Chrome) was infected with pop-up ads that would not stop. Malware repair alerts would appear that looked legitimate I had installed windows 10 two weeks prior with no problems and had not downloaded or clicked on anything else) and i had never seen anything like it before. I thought it might be a new windows security thing.
After restarting and running mcafee virus scanner, i kept getting pop-ups. I called the pop-up phone number thinking it would be help to repair the malware. The inidan sounding tech guy sounded legit and i let him in my machine. He ran some kind of diagnostic tests from the dos prompt while i watched and he alerted me that i indeed had some malware.
He was very persistent that if i did not act quickly, the malware would spread. For only $499 i could have my computer fixed immediately. He showed me a company website, gave me his direct phone number and different prices that other companies were offering for the malware removal Obviously higher than their price).
I quickly balked at the price. He began to get defensive, started chuckling and began to say "how dare you insult my credibility," etc... I then told him i thought he was the scammer and he quickly began logging out of my computer and then installed what my computer network guy calls "hostageware."
I could no longer log into my computer. I called a computer tech and he said i had been hacked. I used another computer to look up the scam and found https://malwaretips.com/blogs/cpuwarning-com-virus/
I quickly contacted software empire, was put on hold for 10+ minutes twice and never heard back. I called a third time and left a message describing that i thought i got malware from the download. I alerted my credit card company and have disputed the $109.99. I left software empire the message that i was not going to pay and still have not heard back from them. Luckily i am not responsible for the money and will not be charged any interest while in dispute.
Fortunately, i restarted my computer in safe mode and was able to go back to the morning before i installed the software. I downloaded and ran malwarebytes free software and there were a lot of infected files and a malware .Exe file that i was able to quarantine and delete.
Seems like they are trying to find other ways to get your money besides super cheap software. It would not surprise me if they were working with the indian guys...
I am not entirely sure how that has anything to do with the sale of Microsoft office. You cannot blame someone who sold you a product for unrelated things down the road even after Microsoft validated the product and solved it. You are in essence blaming someone who sold your Microsoft Office Professional for the actions of Spyware in which you then called and expected them to legitimately answer you.
Be careful what you do with things on the internet and when you get a virus and spyware who you blame for it.
I ordered Microsoft Word 7 program from Software Empire on May 27, 2015.
I was able to download it, but when they sent the product key # it wouldn't work.
They stated that if the internet action didn't work then I could use the automated phone system, which was nowhere to be found.
I tried calling them several times a week but only received a recorded message.
There was no way to leave feedback. I have continued to try and call them but with the same results. I have even looked everywhere on the internet to find an email address to no avail.
I paid $55 for the program which seemed like a really good idea at the time! NOT!!
Empire Software eagerly charged my card $59.99 for MS Office Suite on Friday. The activation code (in tiny type) and link were in the online receipt. Product downloaded and, it said, installed. Fortunately I had copied the activation code (never got an email); unfortunately MS said it wasn't a code for that product. Called; voice message said they were closed until Monday, Eastern time and did not offer to take a message. I emailed them Friday, expecting to hear from them on Monday. When I didn't hear from them, I tried to go back to the website to verify the email address. It's gone. As of Monday, July 10, the website is "not found."
I bought a Microsoft Office 2010. Immediately after installation I found out the product key did not work. I emailed the company, called them on their number, even sent a chat message. 0 response. This place is a scam!!
Everything went according to plan. I paid the $39.99, downloaded the windows 7 program (which took hours to complete), then ran and installed it. Windows accepted the license key with little fanfare. After about a week after the upgrade, a window popped up telling me my license key was wrong and to try a new one. I double-checked the email from software empire containing the key and noticed the instructions said to use microsoft's phone activation (recommended). This is what the popup window was prompting. So I did that, received a text from microsoft, input some codes back and forth between pc and smartphone text, and voila- all good.
I am still quite amazed that for $40 I was able to upgrade from vista to 7. I was really afraid after reading nightmare stories on THIS SITE that software empire was a scam. I can vouch for them being legit. Apparently these 3rd party companies like software empire buy off product keys from software included on OEM products. This would explain why my serial number was flagged, or in any case did not work until the additional verification was performed. But microsoft is aware- this is not a crack. I now have a 'genuine windows product.'
I should mention- Vista users like myself are unable to upgrade our machines to anything from windows 8-10. So 7 is it. In my case, I wanted a music recording software that requires 7 or newer to run. So I settled on 7, then discovered- microsoft has discontinued it. This led me to software empire. These guys are providing us with the chance to upgrade our machines that wouldn't exist otherwise.
One final thing- I was able to perform an installation "upgrade" from Vista to 7, as opposed to a "custom" installation. The latter involves erasing and re-formatting the disk, the dreaded "reinstalling" of windows. I never knew of any other way. But with the custom installation, it's just like installing any other software. You don't lose any files, programs or settings. This, to me, is some kind of miracle. I've installed various versions of windows over the years, and it always involves two weeks of jumping through hoops, finding and reinstalling all the software I had before the re-format.
So, in sum, I feel very lucky the way this has all worked out.
We purchased a 5 pack of Office 2013 professional from them. Initially the codes worked. Then we were getting errors on the PC's. We contacted them and received a note with new product keys, Now those codes don't work as well.
Don't use this company, they are scammers!
Issue may or may not have been Software Empire's fault. Office 2013 indicated that authorization key had exceeded its use, although I had just used it for the first time. Microsoft gave me the option to enter code by phone. I vaguely remember purchasing other Microsoft through an office supply chain and running into similar results. Using the phone entry, the phone code worked in unlocking my product. It appears that Office 2013 is working at this time.
I purchased a product key from Software Empire for Windows 10 Home yesterday. I downloaded and installed Windows and entered the product key, but Windows said the key was used already on another installation. After reading your comment, I tried the phone activation and it worked. Thanks!
I purchased Microsoft 2013 from Software Empire on May 2, 2016. To date I cannot use the Installation key code is not valid. I have tried many time to contact company and there is only a answering machine saying they will return call. They have not. I need this program and would like to activate or return my money so that I can purchase elsewhere.
Purchased Windows 7 downloaded crested bootable disk and when install completed my computer was useless. No device drivers so hardware adapters not working. Can't get to internet to get them so what is this ???
Nowhere in the add did it say no device drivers.
Contacted them and basically response was my fault for not saving them first ???
What reasonable person would not expect a new windows 7 package to be missing device drivers ???
Working with Visa on disputed purchase.
If you purchase something from this website but you may not be getting what you thought.
Windows doesn't contain the device drivers for your motherboard or NIC to begin with, that is not the job of the operating system. I would suggest looking up your motherboard/NIC on google from a system with internet access and acquiring the Windows 7 x86 or x64 drivers and placing them on a thumb drive, smart phone etc.
Windows DVDs have no way of containing all drivers for every device that is on the market and that is why you need to also know what you're doing when it comes to systems when installing an operating system.
If you have any questions about drivers I would suggest contacting the Hardware manufacturer for the motherboard/NIC.
On June 14, 2017, I downloaded Microsoft Office 2010 from www.softwareempire.com. They advertised that once downloaded, a 25 digit key would be given to me to install the sodftware. After I could not get their customer service to answer (they were buy helping other customers) I tried their live chat. They, too, were busy helping other customers. Then the phones and chat rooms were unable to help me st thst time and asked me to csll back later.
I thought there may hve been a storm so about 4-5 hours later I tried again and no answer. I then conacted my bank's fraud department and they took the necesary information.
I emailed SoftwareEmpire and requested them to send me a key to install my softeware and at 4pm on June 15 they did send me a key. When I tried to install the software, I got a message from Microsoft, apparently a copy of the one they sent to Software Empire as they referred to my license, when they stated that the key that I had tried to install the software with had already been used the msximum number of times per your license with Microsoft.
My bank sent me some forms which I filled out and sent back to then with a copy of the email they sent to me with the invalid key as well as other emails involved. The letter to the bank was to have been received by the bank on Monday, July 17, 2017. As I explained, getting the $39.99 back was not as important as a valid key was and that was what I wanted.
It has become apparent that this is a scam, I do not have the correct download file and the code does not, lesson learnt
I purchased 2x Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit - Instant-Download Licenses @ $79.99 each in November 2016.
Windows 10 recently required that I re-activate Windows on the machines in question. I phoned Microsoft, which informed me that the License Codes supplied by Software Empire were blocked by Microsoft, having been sold to other users previously.
I attempted to contact Software Empire, but their browser chat facility is non-functional:
Sorry, our service team isn't available at the moment. We could be busy helping other customers or away outside of business hours. Please check back with us soon and we'll be happy to chat :)
and there is no voicemail to leave a message.
I ordered microsoft office professional 2013 from this company online. They sent me my receipt with a link to the software, which i downloaded.
Then the download asked me for a product key so i could actually use the software. I emailed software empire for the key. No response. I phoned them. All customer service people are busy - please try chat. Tried chat - no one is available to help you.
Called bank, cancelled transaction, cancelled credit card and ordered new one.
This company asks you to rate them before you even get your product delivered which is how they have a 4.7 customer rating. They provide their address and phone number on their site, but i'm sure these are all bogus, as well.
Do not order from this company!
This is the same as many other reviews - purchased software from Software Empire that would not install, only to find out my computer was "not compatible" with the new software. You can read throughout all of their reviews the same issue with many customers. Was offered a 80% refund, 20% "restocking fee".
I read their promise on their website home to mean exactly what is says: "Every product we sell is covered by our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee! We know you’ll love us… but just in case you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase, give us a call and we will do everything we can to make it right! If we can’t make it right, we will gladly offer you a full refund of your paid purchase price!". It is a lie.
They do not answer the phones. I was put on a "chat" one day, then the customer agent left the chat. The next day they told me about the compatibility issue. DO BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. They are not upfront or helpful.
I recently purchased Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013, download version from SOFTWARE EMPIRE. First it would NOT download; once downloaded It would not open... After 2 or 3 installation attempts, I was finally able to open it. The very first time I opened a Word doc, a message asking me to register MS OFFICE. I was unable to do it, as it took several days to received a license code. After I received it, I tried to register it, using the license code I had received. I was unable to do it.
I have made every attempt under the sun to try to register the product, to no avail. I've asked for assistance, to no avail. I have tried to communicate with these people by phone, they're NEVER available. Always busy. I tried LIVE CHAT, and the person on the other side gave me a generic answer, which DID NOT WORK.
I am tired of asking for help on registering my product, and I don't get an answer. I'm unable to speak with a human being. they just don't respond. I don't know what to do, other than ask for a refund; but have not been able to speak with anyone there.
I'm very, very disapponted, as I have spent numerous hours trying to make contact, and been UNABLE to do it.
My son purchased windows 7 for his first computer build. After paying with his hard earned money... The product key did not work, we followed the instructions to a tee. Called multiple times with no answer and also emailed them...Its been a week with no response... Makes me want to fly down to the listed address and rip out some hearts...
I needed a copy of Windows that evening, as I was helping a relative set up a computer, and I was leaving the next day. I purchased a key from softwareempire.com and Windows said it was invalid. Their site says you have to use Microsoft Phone activation, so I did that, which took a long time even if it did work. The Microsoft rep told me that this was a group liscense and it had already exceeded the number of activations alotted to this group. It was after hours for support at SoftwareEmpire (though I later found trying to contact them by phone was pointless), so I had to get a copy from a local store to put on the PC. They responded several days later with another key, and I had no PC on which to install it so I've been unable to use it. I had asked for a refund several times, and mentioned that I'd challenge it with my bank if one wasn't provided.
They told me to contact them by phone for further discussion, but I was never able to reach them by phone or have any messages returned. I was unable to test this new key as I don't have a PC for it anymore, and I doubt it still works. I don't know for certain, but it seems like they buy products at 'group' rates, intended for a school or company to use the same liscense over many computers. But instead of doing this, they sell the key until someone complains that it doesn't work. I imagine they count on many people giving up and never contacting them, allowing them to sell a key for 100 users to 200 for example. I don't know for certain that this is what they do, but it seems like it from my experience, and in the end was a rip off in my book.
They wait until the last moment to file a rebuttal to your bank claim, and then point out that amongst all their fine print is a clause saying you have to give them 10 days to resolve any issue. So apparently you can stick "Instant" in your main product description and "10 days" in your fine print, and only be obligated to fullfill the 10 day one.
Even if they key had worked instantly like they said, it would have required a lenghty phone call to Microsoft, and support that can't be reached at SoftwareEmpire.com. They are (legally apparently) ripping people off, and should be avoided when there are many more reputable software providers out there.
Software Empire,
Has you download your software pick from Microsoft, anyone can. Wow they tout how safe it is.It has a 30 day usage. Same for anyone.
Days and days go by to get a Activation code... it is a bad code, and according to others they all will all be bad.
They don't answer their phone, nor reply to emails.
Others have been ripped off with bad activation codes, Microsoft does not sell them codes in bulk.
I disputed my CC, be careful cuz the CC see's the code as "Delivery"
With some help from the CC guy the could see it is a scam and disputed it.
We will see what happens.
Imagine that,,, this is a straight up scam.
This company is a major scam. They give you codes that have either been used multiple times, or completely invalid. We contacted Microsoft licensing after they sent us 11 codes for Micorsoft Office 2013 Professional that would not work (invalid). Micirosoft reported the codes were INVALID. Not over used, but invalid. After this they sent us 11 new codes that would not activate saying they have been used multiple times and have been disabled in the Microsoft licensing database. The retort from them buying bulk codes direct from MS is dishonest at the very least. If you do get a code to work and need to reinstall in the future you better break out you wallet for another flogging folks... $1,200.00 investment up in smoke folks... Avoid this shyster company like the plauge.
We have left dozens of voice message, and sent half a dozen emails with zero response.
We will contact AMEX to see about a chargeback, that should get their attention.
I bought this license key from Software Empire, did the download from the provided link. went to activate with the key and was given the dialog box that the key was invalid. So I called SE, I had to leave a message. Called again twice did the same thing, I had to move on and bu=y another license from an alternate source. Now two months later I received an e-mail asking if I was happy with my purchase!!! So I said hey the key you sold me does not work, so the lad said let me check, he came back and said yes you are right, I'll issue you a new one and send it to you via e-mail. Well I do have a new key just not so sure that I dare install it, I don't need problems down the road.
But I give them credit for at least trying, and they did answer the phone this time around.
I purchased Microsoft Office Home and Student on Dec. 8, 2016. When trying to activate the code I purchased from software Empire I received a message that the code was already used. i have tried to call the company but after waiting for over 20 minutes I was never able to speak to a human being. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company so that I will not have to pay for this scam!
Downloaded and installed well. However getting to Window.com installation wizard was difficult. After downloading, and installing the product, and getting to the Windows Installation Wizard, I activated the product by using "the telephone" method. The other methods seem to be erratic or nonexistent and unable to activate the product. This is no way Empire Software's issue. I currently have 4 Office 2013 products on 4 separate PC's by using and installing 4 separate purchases and licenses from Empire Software. I'll be back.
I'm not sure about everyone else, but I had a great experience with this company. Good price, Instant product delivery, answered my phone call, helped me install it. It seems the only people that leave a review these days are the handful that don't have good experiences.
Dear Customer,
We are sorry to hear that our company did not meet your expectations. We have every intention to address your needs and provide the best solution available to resolve your issue. However, I had reached out to you regarding this complaint a short time ago to try and resolve this and we received no response from you.
In regards to your statement about the product key had given your computer a virus, the person or persons you had spoken with regarding the pop ups on your computer, are not affiliated with us in any way so i am not sure who you had contacted or what number you had called. We only have one number to contact us and it is within your order email or on our website. We are a licensed complany through Microsoft to distrubite these keys provided to use from Microsoft. They generate these product keys for us to use and provide to you. This is why in order to activate them, you must call Microsofts' 800 number given within your order. Microsoft does provide us with these keys and occasionally we receive keys that can no longer be reactivated but we are unaware of this issue until the customer attempts the download.
Again, we would like to resolve this for you but in order to do so we need communication from you. You can email us 24/7 and/or leave a voice message for a technician after hours and one will promptly return your call during business hours.
We hope that we can move forward and find a solution. If you would like, please feel free to reach out to us either by email at [email protected] or phone at 800-535-6049.
I bought a copy of Windows 7 upgrade for $49.00 from SoftwareEmpire.com. I was able to download the software and they sent me two license keys in the mail. One of the license keys wasn't valid. The 2nd one did work, but only for a short period of time. We started getting notices to activate the software. I tried the licenses keys again and they said not valid. I called the phone activation number and entered the product ID per the instructions. I got a notice back indicating the Windows 7 I had was not a genuine Microsoft product. I should have known better to buy from this web site as I work in the IT Industry. Shame on me! Anyway, this site is clearly selling pirated or at a minimum trial only versions of software.
Bought Windows 7 didn't contain any device drivers
