I have recently applied through my college's career center to a job position as a Billing Coordinator at SND Finances. I have recently recieved an email from my college career center that a student has flagged it as a potential fraud. I have not engaged further with the job in question. They have sent me an email offering a position about a week after my application with no interview. My college has since then taken down the application
Here is the following red flags I have found in my further research.
-Job Application itself: There is a formating error in their company description. All apostrophe's have been converted in to a '?.' The job application also lacked any meaningful detail other than boasting it's 'independent' nature. (Please allow me a moment of pride to say I pointed out this typo in my follow up resume email as a demonstration of my detail-orientated skills.)
-Company's website: It is filled to the brim with buzzwords and meaningless information. There is no information on *how* it accomplishes its goals. The website list none of their 'seasoned financial professionals.' The photos used are stock photos. One of the photos is a graph with the title "Adipiscing." There is no meaning to the graph, and a google search reveals that this is a meaningless word that is one of the default text. The default text being the "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." I also find it strange that the website lacks a fleshed out section at the bottom of the webpage. For example, it lacks a "Career" hyperlink.
-Follow up research: There is no glassdoor rating. Scamadvisor.com rates their website at 11/100 in terms of trustworthiness. They also claim their domain age is 3 weeks old (my curent date is 11/3/23). Their listed address is also a different buisness, 'Advantage Vascular.' This website seems much more legit and it is much more fleshed out. I intend to inform this buisness of this potential scam as well.
-Follow up Email: This is where the onslaught of red flags really pops up. The email is a copy that is not personalized to me at all. It boast the simple nature of the job and the flexibility. They claim to have 12 agents in the United States and are looking for someone to lessen the load on their employeers. They claim to give a weekly 700$ check mailed to my address. I also find it curious that David Newsom is supposedly the Vice President of HR. Please view my attached photo yourself.
