I contacted Tomas Smith, a Toy and Mini Aussie breeder in Stockbridge, Georgia to purchase one of his puppies. We were going to be in the area in July, so I asked if he would hold the puppy given a deposit until we could pick it up. He said that he ships puppies and the cost is included in the purchase price. All we had to do was send a moneygram for the $800 cost and he would make all the arrangements for the delivery. We were very excited and so we went June 17, 2017 to Walmart and sent the moneygram. We received confirmation of payment and flight information about the puppy. She was due to arrive at 10am the next day. We had a tracking number and all. He said he always used Peer Movers Express and they would contact us. On the following day, we received a call saying there had been a delay and the puppy would not arrive until 2pm. We also were told at that point that we needed to purchase insurance to cover expenses in case anything should happen during travel. This $990 was fully refundable when the dog was delivered unharmed. So, I paid that as well. We recieved another call that same day saying the puppy was due to arrive at 4pm but that we needed to pay an additional fee of $250 for licensing in this state. I refused to pay it, because at this point I was convinced I had been scammed. This was a gift for my daughter and we were heartbroken! I am a single parent and cannot afford a loss like this with nothing to show for it. This man, or group of people, needs to be held accountable for his actions! He should be prosecuted and have to refund all money he has recieved.
