Smart Choice Payments Reviews

Problems with Product/Service Dec, 28, 2016 . The saleswomen Dolly Allen explained in detail that her company named Smart Choice Payment would save my business $180.00 per month if I switched to her processing company,Dolly gave me a quote that they can reduce my effective percentage only low rate of 1.92%(before was 2.7%). I specifically asked her, "Will that be include credit card interchange fees and equipment fee ?" And she said, "YES,there is no equipment fee." We talked for almost hours! I asked her over and over if I want to cancel with your company how much would that cost me?" And her answer was "There is no contract with us,you can cancel it any time and no cost any fees from you." !!I asked him again, "So my total effective overall rate on my statement would be 1.92%? " And her answered , " ABSOLUTELY."Even though she told me there was no contract from her company and no other cancel fees, I still worry about the contract promble and want to make sure about the contract . Dolly told me "Don't worry about that,if you don't want the service ,just cancel it any time and no other charge fees, because there is no contract." She want me to believe what she said to me ,she wrote special instruction"WAVE EARLY TERMINATION FEE" on the blank form. She said lets quickly signed because it was busy lunch time and let me go back to work. Then she brought forms and filled my information and explained to me and pointed out can you see that everything is at 1% ? I said yes and signed. While it is true that it is my responsibility to read the agreement before I sign a form,I read well and only show the basic information about me. I asked for a copy of the forms that I signed, but I never GOT a copy of the FORMS at that time. she said she was in a hurry to leave and promised that she would send me a full copy within 24 hours. She never did that !! JAN.03.2017. The thing was happened that the company took $108.49 from my bank. I was very confuse about this charge and tried to call DOLLY ,but she did not answer me and never call me back. Then I called the custmer service and they told me that was system's problem, they will refund the money back to me(up to now JAN.25.2017,They still not return my money back).I begin so nervous because they trick me. Few days later ,I got a payment from FIRST DATA which Dolly NEVER mentioned a 4 year lease on the equipment, that I could never get out of.......I would be paying $9504.00 for a credit card machine that costs me $0. THIS IS SUCH CRAZY!! Then I asked company for a copy of the forms which signed with dolly .Dolly has disappeared since she signed forms with me .When I got forms I saw someone changed it .Some used to be blanks are filled out.(THEY EVEN FILLED WRONG INFORMATIONS ,my bussines type is restaurant someone marked retail!) they cheat me .I only used one equipment 20 days ,another one never used.

Smart Choice Payments is so smart, they make me look dumb for trusting them in the first place. They sent a representative to my newly opened restaurant offering competitive rates versus our current merchant provider. Scott, the rep. gave many promises as well as many false information. He was not at all train to know the information he tells us. He told us the POS system comes with the credit card merchant service and it was only $36 a month plus a $5 equipment insurance fee. While I was signing paper works with him, I saw a fee that was for the POS system for $180/mo, i asked him about it and he told me that the fee is on the credit card company and the bill is not directed to us (false information). It turned out the fee was in fact for us and the rate that they offered was not what he calculated for us. Scott also offered before the contract that he was going to help me set up the POS system as well as inputting the menu for me on the system. I layed out the things i need the POS system to do and he said it could do it all. By the time i got the system, I had to do most of the set up as well as inputing the menu in myself. Scott does not know a thing about the system, nor does he have any idea what it is capable of. He ended up flaking out and did not pick up my phone calls or answer my texts. I could not reach him to asks about the fees and other problems i ran into. There were countless problems that i had and needed assistant but he did not do anything. We had to switch our bank account number and had to rout the merchant service to a new account. Scott said he was on it, but after 3 weeks, the problem was still not resolved. I called straight into smart choice and asks them about it, apperantly there was no request or anything of the sort. I ended up doing the DDA myself. I explained my problems to smart choice customer service about the false information and fees that were not explained to me. They said they cant do anything about the Rep and passed me to one of their higher ups. George took over and promises me many things, he promises me a new pos system and that he would check into the rates. After that, he was never heard of again. I called and called, but he never picks up nor call back. I called ustomer service and told them the sotry again, and told them i want to cancel my account, they said they can cancle it without George permission (which won't happen) because Goerge doesnt respond! So if they don't respond and ignore my request, i can't even cancle or do anything! im just stuck! with no help or any support. I was tricked and scamed big time. If there is anything i can do, please let me know. Be smart and don't go with smart choice!

Smooth talking saleman, Knut Werpen, came into our marina with promises of lowering our credit card processing fees. He stated he worked for Visa and could save us money because we would be dealing with the processor, eliminating the "middleman" processing company. He looked over my last processing statement, went out to call his company and came back with a comparison showing our company could have saved $345.10 that month if we had been with Visa. This price included a lease payment for equipment. I told him I did not need to lease equipment as we had our own. The lease payment shown was $229.99 per month. He stated we had to use their equipment because it had a special "chip" inside to comunicate with Visa directly. Our equipment could not be reprogrammed to do that. The lease was 48 months and in 2 years we would own the equipment. I thought the amount of money we were saving would offset the lease so we decided to contract with him. Did the paperwork. After the firdt couple of months I found we were not saving money and had been locked into a 4 year lease where we would never own the equipment unless we bought it out at the end of the lease. Also, he did not work for Visa, he worked for Smart Choice Payments, a processing company, not the processor. My statement showed various charges for services that were not included in his savings comparison. I spoke with Kelly at customer service. Could not get anything rectified and asked to speak with her manager. She said she would give her a message to call me. In the meantime, I discovered that the machines I had to lease did not have special "chips" in them and I did not get the machines that were written on the lease contract. At that point I realized I had been lied to and called customer service back. Again I spoke with Kelly and let her know I was angry that I had been lied to. She said she did not have anything to do with the sales part of their business. I asked to speak with Knut's manager. Again she said she would leave a message with her supervisor. I never recieved a call back and when I tried to call customer service again, I got a recording to leave a message which I did. Still no call so I decided to call with my personal cell phone. Guess what? Kelly answered the phone immediately and seemed a bit surprised I was on the other end. I asked to speak to her manager, she said she was not available but would again leave a message. I got a call from Craig Dery who stated he was the sales manager. I told him about Knut lying about who he worked for, the reason I had to lease equipment, was not realizing the savings calculated and the extremely poor customer service. He said he would like to personally give me a new proposal. That he was not there during my conversation with Knut and the sales people are not taught to sell that way. Knut has many satisfied customers so he finds it hard to believe what I told him, not to call me a liar though. I asked him why would I lease equipment when I had my own that could have been reprogrammed if his saleman had not said that. He said when you lease equipment you get a better rate. However, I was not getting a better rate. I had been put on a tier program, not interchange. He said he would call me back the next day with a new proposal, rate. I have not heard a word from him. He gave me his direct line 800-756-6277 ext 401 but I have no intention of calling him.

This company is a ripoff. I have found other complaints stating the exact same things I was told by Knut Werpen. If this man comes in trying to sell you processing, turn him out. You will not save money and he will line his and the companys pockets with about $12000.00 by leasing you equipment. I will be contacting our attorney about getting out of this 'non cancellable" lease as this company is unwilling to admit to their salesman's fraudulent practices. I have gone with another reputable company who educated me on why I was not saving money and exactly what kind of lease I was sold. Knut Werpen is a liar who talks smooth with promises of saving you money. It is not true. I did call and speak to him and confronted him with his lies. He hung up on me. What a professional way to do business! Stay away from Knut Werpen, WMP (Wholesale Merchant Processing), Smart Choice Payments, and Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. They are not to be trusted!

In march of this year a representative of smartchoice named dom entrekin sold me cc processing services. He told me that after four years i would own the processing equipment, and he also told me there was no early termination fee. He said this in the presence of a witness, and he also wrote in big letters on the contract that the early termination fee was "waived." i repeat, in big letters he made a point of writing next to termination fee "waved." he assured me there was no termination fee repeatedly and mentioned no other termination fees at all. After i signed and set up service, i learned that instead of owning the equipment after four years, i would instead either need to purchase it separately or send it back. In other words he misled me into thinking i would own the equipment after four years, but in reality i would not. I contacted the people who were "leasing" me the machine and they told me i could not cancel no matter what. I sent machine back in anyway, and they cancelled the lease. I also cancelled with smart choice payments. I questioned dom entrekin about the lies, but after a brief exchange he stopped responding. I did not hear from smart choice payments until today, november 12th. A "private investigator" called me and told me that smart choice was suing me for cancelling early. He told me half way through the call that the conversation was being recorded. He told me it didnt matter that the contract said no early termination fee, and that they were suing me for the costs associated with setting up the account. Sounds like a shameless semantic argument used to lie to customers. He said they were suing me for about $1,000! Let's test that theory. If i am sued, i am so happy that i am in beaverton, the same city in which smart choices makes their home. It will be easy to go to the media, they love to look into greedy companies that like to harrass and swindle small businesses. It will make a great story.
