I purchased a 2014 ram 2500 truck from gibson truck world on 3/12/18. I was sold an extended warranty through smart auto care and bought the premier package. The contract was to cover all powertrain breakdown for 5 years or 75000 miles.. I have kept regular service and maintenance on the vehice as stated in the contract.
I had a powertrian malfunction and had the vehicle towed into the dodge dealership in sanford where it has sat for going on 2 months. After satisfiying the warranty company with my service records they asked the dealrship to a tear down on the engine which i had to authorze for 750 dollars.
The dealership did the tear down and found metal in th motor on an oil control valve. The dealership sent pictures to the warranty company saying that it was powertrain failure an should be covered under my warranty.
The warratny company was not satisfied and asked the dealership to do a deeper teardown which i was informed would be an additional 750 dollars bringing the tear down cost now to 1500. After tearing down deeper it was found to be a bad camshaft, which is a covered part in my contract. The warranty company sent out an inspector to take photos and write the report.
The dealrship and i were finally going to get the go ahead for the engine replacemnet. The next morning i recieved a phone call from the warranty company saying that they were denying my claim. I was floored. After all that went through to satisfy this company they denied it and didnt have a good explination.
The rep bill said that the vehicle has a star case which he doesnt even know what that means lol. He out right refused to cover the breakdown that is listed as a covered part in my contract. I demanded that the breakdiwn be covereed an he again denied it even though the contract list this break down as a covered occurance.
I am filing a compliant with florida attorney general, gibon truck world, riipoffreport.Con and contacting an attorney to help in this process.
