Skyline Estimating Reviews
Skyline Estimating sends emails with the following offer:
"Skyline Estimating Inc provide cost estimation, quantity take-off and Rendering with 98% accuracy. We have 14 years of estimation experience. Please let us know if you need any sort of estimation services regarding your projects. It is for your information that we are providing 40% Discount on the first estimate and 45% Discount on estimation services onward with no compromise on quality of work."
When I spoke to them on the phone they said the offer was expired. It doesn't mention an expiration, I had jut gotten one within a week or so, and have received more of the same offer since.
They offered to lower the price some. I declined. They called me back to honor thier offer, so I finally accepted.
The estimate came on-time and as promised... in terms of the layout.
That was about the only thing that was as-promised. The info it contained was essentially useless. A couple of my emails to them are included below with specifics.
Summary:
These guys will not save you any time estimating. They do promise a discount they will only make good on if you fight them. Their estimates are grossly inaccurate. They will not refund your money despite failure to deliver as promised.
"Thanks for the reply, Steve.
I’m not very clear on what you are asking, but I’ll copy you again with what I listed out previously concerning the faulty estimate.
The estimate was so far off that it was a joke.
It’s not worth my time to correct with this many items done incorrectly despite clear notations and drawings in the plans.
Please refund me in entirely.
Thanks,"
"Hi All,
I’m seeing this estimated for a metal roof when composition is specified.
It also appears to be estimated for a hand-framed roof where trusses are specified.
1/2” ply should be estimated for walls and 5/8” ply for the roof and labeled as such.
Drains are listed under roof. Where are those on the plans and what are they?
There are no 2x10 or 2x12 stud walls in the house. What are these taken from? Do the quantities need to be accounted for on another wall thickness?
This shows exterior flooring, tiles in balcony, and wood flooring. None of these items are specified on the plans.
There isn’t even a balcony in this house.
Wall tiles are indicated, but not specified on the plans either.
Excavation is grossly inaccurate.
With this many mistakes, I can’t trust the take-off and it’s basically useless to me.
It would take more time than it’s worth to go through and correct all these mistakes.
Please refund me."
