Skurt, Inc. Reviews

My boyfriend and I booked a sedan with Skurt 3 days in advance of when we needed a vehicle for a road trip. We designated a 9:00am-9:30am drop off as per their 30 minute window for delivery. At 9:36am, a Skurt agent called saying they were completely out of sedans and SUV's, and only had 1 minivan in their possession, with no way to get their hands on antoher vehicle. Given that we were due to be on the road in 26min, we reluctantly agreed to take the minivan. At 10am (30-60min past our delivery time), the agent arrvied. The minivan had clearly been in a collsion on the driver's side, and was severly dented, scratched and scraped. Upon further inspection, the car had NOT been washed on the inside or outside, with crumbs, spilled coffee, and debris littering the floorboards. When I protested to the agent, he said he was just the delivery guy and wasn't in charge of quality or cleanliness and that I had to reach out to Skurt support.

He then again confirmed Skurt had no other available vehicles and if we didn't take this one, they couldn't provede a replacement. A quick internet search proved there wasn't anything available at the nearby rental car faciluty either, so we grudginlgy accepted the vehicle so we could get to our destination, as we had people who were counting on our arrival. Once I was in the car, it got worse. There were no outlets to charge your phone, and no bluetooth for handsfree talking--in a state that banned touching your phone in any way while driving. So not only do we have a 6 hr drive with no way to charge a phone, my boyfriend couldn't use the phone either. All of this supposedly in a vehicle that is 2 years old or newer, and from a company that touts on its website that you will be driving a "fresh, clean car that's under 2 years old". That's copied and pasted straight from their site.

When I reached out to Skurt customer support as directed and detailed all of the issues we had with the reservation, I received this canned response:

"I'm so sorry to hear you felt your vehicle was not up to par. Unfortunately you were not supposed to receive a mini van, but we've followed up with our partner and it appears they over-promised us SUV options and only had the mini van option available. We are working closely with them to ensure this does not happen again.

As for features such as the lack of USB and bluetooth, we do not guarantee you'll be able to receive them. Although our partners provide vehicles two years old or newer they are often basic models and will not include all features you may or may not be used to. We keep our costs economical for our users by offering vehicles this way and hope you'll find your next ride more suitable! We've passed your feedback along to our business development team.

Thank you for your patience during this trip! For the inconvenience of the invalid tier, we've gone ahead and applied $15 in credits to your account able to be applied automatically in full toward your next Skurt purchase."

I most assuredly did not sign up to pay $135.00 for a beat up, filthy vehicle that didn't offer features required by the state of California in order to operate a vehicle and your phone simultaneously. They gave no indication that they choose basic models on purpose that are devoid of features, but instead lead you to believe you are getting a new, updated vehicle. I rent Economy class cars from Enterprise, Avis, Budget etc on a monthly basis for work, and I have yet to receive one that was dented, scratched, scraped, dirty, and with no way to charge my phone or enjoy the safety of hands free talking.

The $15.00 offer was insulting and a complete dismissal of the issues. Skurt took ZERO responsibility for the breakdown in customer service, and proceeded to respond with this:

"We cannot issue a refund to you.

Should you ever feel your Skurt is not up to par you are welcome to reject it. If you wish to reject it you are charged a $15 cancellation fee and the vehicle is immediately rerouted to us. You just have to place a new reservation at that point if you want a different vehicle!

Should you dispute your charges your eligibility will be revoked and our collections team will be in touch."

So their solution is to offer me the option of rejecting the subpar vehicle for the pleasure of a $15 charge? And if I take it up with my credit card company, they will ban me and send me to collections?

Wow. Buyer beware.
