This company is a bunch of criminals involved in all kinds of criminal activity, tax fraud. Deductions from employee pay checks for expenses a company driver is not responsible for such as preventative maintenance, they will have you drive their commercial trucks back to there maintenance facility no matter how big the problem with no regards for your safety they will find a way to deduct pay from you to pay for truck maintenance costs. They will not put bags of chains on the trucks in winter time they donot answer phones after hour's for any reason. Most trucks have defective batterys and other problems but look new probably auction picks or 3 Rd party investors money for profit thru money desired from honest hard working truck drivers who have been unfortunate to work for this company. Driver will have to pay tolls and maintenance out of pocket to never be reimbursed money you never see again. They will short you a ridiculous amount of miles on earning statements and put down you have been reimbursed for tolls and other expenses you are not responsible for. They will send you to Melrose park once a month for maintenance and not fix anything, they employee undocumented immigrants for in house maintenance who are not technician's.
They have been running illegal log books for years and force drivers to drive well over 11 hrs. Now that they have ELD mandate in place they will have problems and most likely blame drivers for their cheap elog equipment. This is a company that has been running illegitimately for years as far as dot laws and regs. On every inspection you will be informed by dot officer this company has a csa score of 99 one point away from shut down.
This is the worst trucking company in the industry I am willing to bet my hands and feet on it. Probably the worst employer in America, 3 Rd world work conditions very dangerous truck company to be associated with. They lie non stop if you are able to get a hold of someone. The more time you spend working for Silvicom the more problems financially you will have. They will attack your paychecks in the most unimaginable ways. In the end you will get charged for normal wear n tear in their trucks from pick ups in place's where real truck companys will not go for pick ups. I put 400,000 miles on one of there trucks and they charge me detailing the truck and washing the truck after I quit for there dishonest thievery and work ethics of lieing cheating and stealing from every truck driver working for Silvicom. Every person at their office 1301 w armitrage Ave Melrose park il. Is a thieving leach liar. I garentee you get the same exact story from every truck driver currently employed there and the ones fortunate to quit suck as myself. I don't think they fire cdl truck drivers at this company since you will be basically driving for them for free their earnings are 110% profit as long as you can pick up a load, any expenses to drop off you the driver will never recover beware.
I drove for Silvicom for a year, from December, 2018 to December, 2019. Silvicom is a decent company located in Melrose Park, Chicago. They specialize in hazmat loads, so you have to have a hazmat endorsement to drive for them. They cover all 48 states. They don’t go into Canada. They want their drivers to be on the road for at least three weeks at a time, followed by up to a week at home. They pay well, but they withhold the first 50 miles of every pick up. So if your next pick up is 50 miles or less from your last delivery, you won’t get paid for those miles. That can add up to $3000.00 - $5000.00 a year that they are screwing you out of. Their trucks and trailers are late model, and in good repair. Freightliners and Volvos. Governed to 73 mph, when I left. They are strictly a live load company. No drop and hook. My biggest complaint with the company was the lack of miles ( I averaged 2,500 a week ), and the downtime between loads. I would periodically end up sitting an entire day, waiting for my next load. That may have been a function of my dispatcher, though. The administrative staff is nice for the most part, and the owner, Vladi, is civil and polite, but he doesn’t value or respect his drivers. After working for the company for nearly a year, I texted Vladi, requesting an increase in my pay rate. He failed to even respond. When I gave my notice, I didn’t get so much as a “What can we do to keep you?”, even though I had been one of their most profitable drivers. Then to add insult to injury, they tried to cheat me out of my final check. Only my threat to file a complaint with the US Department of Labor motivated them to cut my final check, five weeks after I had left. Expect to gross about $1,500.00 a week.
They don’t tell you until your in Chicago that every new load you go pickup, the first 50 miles aren’t paid (deadhead). When you go home, the miles difference between delivery and your home will be charged to you, and payroll deducted. When I resigned, they sent me to Michigan, and then payroll deducted me the difference of miles between delivery point and Chicago. Also, turned in all my paperwork,at office, keys to truck and they held my last paycheck for 45 days. Don’t work for these scumbags.
I worked for them I had to leave them do to personal problems I would work for them again any time im an American with over 4 million accident free miles as an O/O I made great money the office staff was great my dispatcher nick was great as with any dispatcher and driver we didnt always agree fueling was a bit of a pain in the ass but thats there policy and you can thank thieves for that I left them with no notice at all left the truck in the yard with a load I had my check within a week and if someone had a bad experience there it was because of them I would not encourage rookies to apply to this company this is a company for real truck drivers not steering wheel holders I don't work for them I'm thinking of going back I wrote this review because I'm a bit difficult to work with and it pisses me off to see all these cry babies write these reviews and to you idiots that keep saying they are Russian there Bulgarian and everyone there's working hard for their drivers and office staff they are nice people real truckers this is a good company safety rating was pretty bad when i was there but who's isnt. Signed. JVK. The infamous muskrat
Just stay away from them, is not worth working for that company even if they pay bonus... owner does not listen he has a friend as operations that is very stupid running a company with dispatchers from 8 to 5... good luck with them..... if you work for wait until he has a chance to ripp you off.... Be careful and stay away don’t drive for them go away from them stay away stay away
They will throw a contract for you to sign. DON'T DO IT AND WALK AWAY. Because the contract has a lot of charges to scam you out of your money. You will be charged 2thousand dollars if you dont give two weeks notice before you quit. If you are late to a pick up or delivery you will get charged. If you don't have enough air in one of your eighteen tires you will get charged per tire. If a single scratch or more appears on the tractor or trailer you will get charged. If you miss turning in your paperwork by a single day, even though they have a picture of the bills you will get charged. And a bunch of other stuff you will get charged. They will increase you ten cents more per mile during the process for you to stay. That is just another scam tactic. It doesnt matter because they WILL take that money away and more because they have a lot of crazy excuses that you will sign off in the contract.
It's true they claim to pay 65 cents per mile it's more like 55 cents by the time they are done stealing miles. No detention no layover no medical. They are russians and if you are not Russian good luck. You will sit all the time waiting for a dispatch. You will only run 2700 miles average per week. If you get a flat they will make you pay for it. Get stuck pay for that too. Get in an accident that will cost you 2500.
The people at Silvicom 1301 w armitrage Ave Melrose park il. Run a crooked hazmat trucking company they are unsafe donot work for them they are well known for having the lowest safety score and are always 1 point from being shut down the dot officer at the weight station will tell you.
