Purchasing a home from Shipley's was the worst decision my husband and I ever made. I wish we had done more research. We closed on the house in December of 2015. We were trading in a mobile home for a modular, so we had to rent a place to live. We paid household bills for two places for 8 and a half months! Our contract stated a 90 day build. Our house was not brought to our property until May 2016. We didn't get occupancy until the end of July 2016. We are still in a hole financially because of their lack of work ethic and customer service. They would come work a couple of days and then we wouldn't see them for a couple of weeks! When we moved in, they wouldn't even do a punch list! We ended up calling the Manufacturer of the home and they fixed everything that Shipley's screwed up. The Manufacturer told us that they had discontinued their business relationship with Shipley's because of their crappy workmanship and business practices. Shipley's is now out of business and I am sure it is because of their unethical business practices and the way they treat people. We are still awaiting reimbursement for many expenses we should have never incurred. We will probably never see anything, but that will be on their conscience.

Our home is not level, bowing in the center, we dont have a working shower because the crook did not install what we paid for and still didnt complete the mess he put it, it isnt even connected under the house. We did not get the cabinets we ordered or the color, our fireplace is nothing like we ordered, the plumbing is not installed correctly causing back ups, our decks already need replacing from using 2nd class wood and it is rotting. He busted our septic tank and refuses to replace it. We paid this crook to clear our land and he just cleared a small section and buried half in the yard which is now coming up after a hard rain and the other half he pushed into the woods. His so called employees are sloppy and lazy and half way do things. This guy is a crook, stay away from shipleys homes.
Trae Shipley seems like the nicest business man when you meet him. He promises quality work to build a quality home.He is very accommodating, that is until after they actually start the job. Once they have received payment, they send out the laziest, sloppiest work crew they can find. They only choose to "work" a few hours at the time. They show up and leave when they please. They also choose to not show for days on end and leave you waiting and wondering. Calling Trae does,no good, he usually wont answer the call. Once you FINALLY have a bome complete, you will see a lot of things left undone that were a part of your work you have paid for. You may as well forget it, you will not get a response to comaints to Trae, and you absolutely wont see anyone come to do what's left undone. Please do not be fooled by the fact they have been around for years, Trae Shipley does not have the business ethics of his father and you will regret any dealings with this company now.
