I contacted Shasta Pools to get a price quote on some different setups for our backyard because me and my wife were interested in having a pool installed at our house.I made initial contact in June 2015, however me and the Salesman Robert Kochuten thought it would be best to meet and discuss arrangements again when my wife arrived back from Germany.
I received a Phone call from Robert telling me that he has priced out the options we discussed and that there would be a requirement of a 500 dollar deposit to lock in the price, I asked Robert atleast 3 times on the phone if this was refundable because I was not even sure if I was going to go through with the project or not and Robert told me it was. He seemed liked a great salesman and was really concerned with what we wanted, finally some time went by and my wife arrived and I spoke with Robert via telephone and he said it would be a good idea if we all got together and met up with my wife present and he would let me know when he was available which he never did, I told Robert we were still shopping around and I am not sure if we will go with his setup or not and he said no problem just let him know. The whole time I believed my 500 dollar deposit would be refunded, no problem. Robert sent over a contract and honestly I signed it in good faith because he seemed very honest, I did mention that it was strange that I was signing a contract when we havent even agreed on a final design but he said its just a formality and things can be adjusted later so I took his word on it.
I feel extremely betrayed
I would like my 500 dollars back because Robert did tell me that it was refundable more then once. Who would pay a non refundable deposit on work they weren't even sure they wanted? Who would pay a deposit and be offered a contract when the design wasnt even complete?
I feel like I was strung along and at the end of the day I just want my deposit back and we end it there.I hope Shasta Pools decides to do the right thing, I called to complaint and was told someone would call me back which never happened, I wrote Robert who gave me a robotic response but he knows that he lied, I will make sure that I post my experience everywhere I can because not only am I a veteran, I am a retired disabled veteran and I will warn veterans associations as well about the practices of Robert, I hope he is not a reflection of Shasta Pools as a whole and I hope that giving me back my 500 dollars (being the moral thing to do) would be the course of action that Shasta decides to take just because its the right thing to do.
