My 2004 f250 ford pickup quit on me 30 miles from Seth Wodley ford in Pauls valley, Oklahoma. It was towed to the ford dealer. The mechanic said it was because I was using a Wix oil filter instead of a ford filter. They told me my High pressure pump was bad. $811.46 told me I need a new oil tub inside the oil filter. $74.32. New Oil filter cap assy $38.80 new filter $24.95. Fuel pressure regulator $314.65.
After the mechanic tore down my 6.0 liter diesel truck engine. He told me he couldn't find anything wrong with the pump or the oil system. But that he was putting the new pump in anyway. I asked him why he was replacing it. He said just because he already had it apart and that they go bad. Then he told me the new pump was supposed to have new o rings. But he didn't see any. So instead of installing new o rings, he just reinstalled the old ones. After getting it back together he took it on a test drive and signed off on it saying everything was ok. I got in my truck and it was missing. I then went and asked the mechanic why he didn't fix that. When he was right there and the part was only $250. He said I was just supposed to get it running. I left there to get the Hay baler with it missing there in Pauls Valley to drive 750 miles back home pulling a trailer.
105 miles up the road at Tryon, Ok I was going to pull in to a gas station to gas up. And the truck died, I coasted into the station. I filled the tank (It was only half empty) then I tried to start the truck. It wouldn't start. I have a code reader and it was saying the trouble code P02290 same codes it said before the ford dealer worked on it. I called the dealer number and someone said they would have the service manager call me. He called me and said he would send a wrecker. I said who’s paying that bill. He said I was and that this was a whole new problem. I paid another wrecker $465.75 to be towed 22 miles to Stillwater Ok. Then I had to pay $165.00 for just one night stay in a motel room. And $1000 to have the truck hauled back to Iowa to my mechanic. That is where the truck is now. I feel the ford dealer didn’t fix my problem and that I shouldn’t have to pay him for his services and that the dealer should have to pay all my expenses to get home.
