Sequim Auto Clinic, Inc. Reviews

  • Mar 7, 2022

I took my car in to a local shop to have the heater core replaced. This job required the entire dashboard to be removed and replaced at a cost of $800. When I got the car back the panel heat did not work. Also, the radio button was pushed in so I could not turn on the radio. I called the same day to report the issue. The owner told me they had done nothing wrong but to bring it in and they will check the problem.

I was then told, without provocation, that the panel heat problem was probably because the switch had gone bad. I though it was quite a coincidence that it picked this exact time to go bad. I took it in the next day and the mechanic tried stuffing paper in the back of the radio knob. When he had stuffed enough in the make it turn on the radio it fell off and landed on the car floor. They immediately ordered a radio.

The mechanic then told me, without checking, that the heater problem was the switch and it was only available through E bay or a wrecking yard and you couldn't guarantee they would be any good. I asked him if he could test the switch and he said yes. I noticed he didn’t seem happy about my request. I made an appointment to test the switch to determine if that actually was the problem and have it replaced.

I kept the appointment and was told by the mechanic it was the switch and they had hooked up another switch and all the systems work properly. After I got home I received a call from the owner saying I had insulted the mechanic and nobody in the shop wanted to work on my car. I was also told by the owner that the switch was not available through the two suppliers they use, Ford and Autorock.

A simple google search and a quick check on the ford motor parts website proved that the part was available at both of his suppliers. Truth is, a child could have located this part. I also found out that 4 other sites carried the switch including a small website owned by an eccentric billionaire who likes to ride in his rocket to space wearing his cowboy hat and boots.

I called and told the owner about the parts availability and was immediately told they would not work on my car. I asked him to install the switch and fix the problem and he refused. So here is my problem, as I believe there is something wrong behind the dash and not the switch due to their attitude and lying. Maybe it’s just me but...I have never met a man that didn’t want to prove another man wrong. And the only way to prove me wrong and the switch is bad and will fix the problem is to install a new one.

My dilemma is, if i do it myself or take it to another shop and the switch doesn't fix the heater problem, his shop is off the hook and can point their finger and say 'you did something wrong'. Then I would have to pay $800 to someone else to remove and replace the dash and fix the problem they might have caused. I have had many jobs done at this shop and always been satisfied with their work.

I wish this hadn't happened. All I want is my car fixed and back to the condition it was when I brought it in to be repaired. I believe their lying amounts to fraud. They stand to benefit by their lying by not having to preform free labor and using the time they would spend fixing my car to earn money doing other jobs. Thank you for taking my complaint.
