Senior Life Insurance Company Reviews

  • Oct 18, 2020

I was very clear from the first few minutes of our interview that I only work virtually, to which I was told that's fine, no problem. It is after "on Boarding" paying the $258 for a background check, and other fees, they then advised me I need to purchase or obtain an Ipad.

I explained I can not and wqould not want to do that so, I don't hink it will work out, let's forget it, and please return my fees.

They have declined my request, and maybe that indicates what they are really all about. A misundewrstanding should not cost me and I feel it is a complete ripoff!

Not only does Senior Life Insurance Company of Thomasville, Georgia rips off clients/insureds (something they have done with my own clients) but they also do it to their agents. I will skip the details of how they lie in their recruiting efforts, sell the agents junk leads for $60 and don't pay year-end commissions and concentrate on another scam they are perpetrating at the end, once the contract is cancelled and the agent (tired of being lied to and robbed) moves on. At this point, they report agents to Vector (the equivalent of a credit reporting agency but for insurance agents. This Vector is checked by other insurance companies agents apply to write business for and if there is any derogatory/negative item reported, insurance companies will deny appointmens and agents won't be able to work). Senior Life is taking it upon itself to fraudalently report agents to Vectors, no doubt, this is a new "income stream" for the company which must be losing money since it is poorly managed and losing clients because of it. In order to be released from the Vector, an agent must pay its debt to the insurance company reporting the debt. How is that for a beautiful and perfect way to get every agent that leaves right by the gonads? SENIOR LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY is a scam, they should be shut down and the owners put in jail. Coincidentally, don't bother complaining to the Insurance Commission because the politicians are dully owned by the insurance companies. Hit them where it hurts, SUE THE LIVING HELL OUT OF THEM and, eventually, they will go bankrupt and go away like the voltures they are. You have been warned, both as a consumer and as a agent.

Senior Life Insurance Company of Thomasville, Georgia has to be the leading candidate for worst life insurance company on the planet. After 30 years of personal experience in sales and management working in various markets in the life insurance business I decided to slow down a bit. I then realized how much I missed helping people and decided to return to final expense sales and happened upon this company.

Senior Life Insurance Company "talked" a lot about integrity. I submitted my information directly to their Georgia home office and shortly was contacted by someone from Visalia, California (my state) and he said he was the manager for all of California and also had Nevada. He promised to "take good care of me" and was so glad I was coming on board because he had some 100 leads he would start me out with - right in my backyard.

He had scheduling conflicts for about a week-and-a-half, then said in order to train me I had to drive approximately two hours to meet with him in Turlock, where he had a boat-load of leads he needed to work. I drove the nearly two hours, waited for 30 minutes as he was late, we met, he shared a bunch of stuff about SENIOR LIFE, and we set out to see old leads he tried before to see and they weren't home. Again this day, they weren't home. Nothing was accomplished.

What I did learn from this genius State Manager as I drove around Turlock for a couple of hours, was that he had about one-and-a-half years experience in final expense sales with Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company. That was it. He claimed to be a financial planner but when checking his background, he had two bankruptcies within a short period, and committed securities fraud by borrowing nearly $200,000 from investment clients - which he was doing before Lincoln Heritage. Whooops, not legal. Some of the clients didn't get paid back. He lost his life insurance license for a year except to market small funeral policies - which he did for Lincoln Heritage. They hired him even after his securities fraud disaster. That tells you something about Lincoln Heritage, right? (Second shittiest life company on the planet).

Sales Manager Genius learned the grass was greener somewhere else. He said he was "picked" by Senior Life. THIS is the kind of sales manager SENIOR LIFE wants? It makes sense now. Unfortunately, shortly after getting contracted with SENIOR LIFE, I was fighting a serious allergy problem which ended up to be a lung infection. All of this was shared with my new State of California Manager. Other than his call once or twice to check on me, and some texts to ask when I was going to write some business, I made it clear my uncontrolled coughing would keep me out probably another week.

My sales kit came in on the FIRST of the month. This small box of starter supplies, plus paying my own appointment fee with the state ... COST ME NEARLY $100! This should have been a red flag. State Manager Genius told me the company was a little cheap. The company sales convention was going to be held in Georgia someplace, but mostly because, as he stated it, the old man is just hanging on (cancer, I think), and the son broke his back (possible ski accident). This is a family run enterprise, run by old man Powell and his son Dale, and a bunch of old funeral insurance policy peddlers who put their money together to form the company and to keep it floating. This I learned from the State Manager of California, former financial planner, SECURITIES FRAUD and twice BANKRUPTCY guy, who could only get a final expense license while sitting out for a year as punishment for committing a boo boo ... a very serious boo boo.

NOW here is the real funny part. The head of the LICENSING DEPARTMENT, Nicholas Murray. sent me a termination letter 27 days after I received my little box of $100 supplies (see above). I guess if you have a lung infection and cough too much to go see people ... or don't respond to useless phone calls or answer annoying texts from your genius California State Manager for SENIOR LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY ... YOU GET FIRED!

When I asked the family of the Powell's in their stately Georgia home office (genius told me much of the Powells's family work there, probably inbreds), first they thought it was because I had to sell something every 30 days or get terminated. Well, it's been less than 30 days from receiving my start-up supplies. Also, nothing says this in their 12 page contract. Then I learn it was because I didn't answer all those annoying texts from genius, asking me when, if ever, I'm going to sell something. I DID let him know I went to the Dr, and then to the hospital clinic, and needed another week. This genius manager must have needed my commission over-ride badly. Sad, really, because he told me he left Lincon Heritage with a bunch of "their" leads, and Senior Life just did a mailing for some previous manager they decided to fire. Genius had plenty of leads for himself. If only he knew how to sell them.

TIME RAN OUT FOR THIS OLD TIMER. Genius needed me to sell something NOW. And I ... almost forget. Those 100 leads he gave me to work? Genius lied. He only gave me TEN! Said there were a few more, but I would have to buy them at around $30 a piece. Of the ten leads I was given, most were 2,3, even 4 months old. And despite my coughing (a.k.a. lung infection) I called the ten leads anyway for an appointment and one said her husband passed away a few weeks ago, one was in the hospital with breathing problems (how ironic), several lacked phone numbers ... terrific leads!

I finally concluded SENIOR LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY IS THE SHITTIEST LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY ON THE PLANET when I received a letter from Nicholas Murray, Manager of their Licensing Department, who said "I" owe SENIOR LIFE $26.25 for being terminated! Earlier, the inbreds couldn't explain why I was fired, and listed on my termination letter a debt of $26.25. I explained I "paid" for my supplies, was "given" 10 lousy leads, and had no charge-back because I have been ill and haven't sold anything. I was promised they would look into it. Yeah, they'll promise anything.

There is NO INTEGRITY with Senior Life. The notion they are Christians falls short when they treat people like they did me.

AND when you run quotes for final expense insurance against dozens of companies, SENIOR LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY has the HIGHEST rate for final expense life insurance. In other words, SENIOR LIFE comes in DEAD LAST.

And that's how it should be.

Thanks for listening.

I just want to say THANK YOU to the other agents who have submitted reports about this company. They only confirm what I felt at 4:00 a.m. this morning when I submitted my request for termination of contract to Senior Life Insurance Company. I learned about this company 2 weeks ago during a phone conversation with a friend who had just joined. I was already looking to make a move. I spoke with the regional manager and learned about their casket program. I thought, what agreat idea. I immediately left my current position and began training with Sr. Life. I became skeptical when I saw they not only wanted me to pay my appointment fee and background but also wanted me to pay for initial supplies. I thought that was the least they could do if they wanted me to spend my time training and buying supplies I would need to do the job. My friend gave me 3 applications and I did not press the issue for supplies. I paid the fees a week after I signed up and became appointed. Since their contract signing is online, I initialed and signed everything and had to call home office to request hard copies. No problem. Then I asked the RVP for the compensation schedule and found I had a top commission of 85%. Also, he had told me Sr. Life pays lifetime renewals. The commission schedule showed they pay lifetime renewals on only 2 of their products. So that was a lie. The next day I got a revised commission schedule dropping my comission to 80%. The renewals are so small I really could not count on them to live on. After training I realized the mandatory disclosure to seniors in CA had not been discussed. I contacted the RVP alerting him to this. I thought maybe he didn't know about it. To my surprise, he said "It's not part of our program." I asked myself, how can a form that is required by CA law not be part of their program. A few days later I was informed by the same RVP that if I ever closed a deal using the free look period, I would be fired. I wondered how I could be fired when I am not an employee. The best they could do was terminate my contract. And, again, the free look period is usually disclosed to the client at the time they enroll in the policy. So where is all the fear coming from? I have been in the insurance business for 25 years. Neither the "free look" clause nor the mandatory disclosure form have caused someone to not make a purchase and stay on the books.

I have hever had a company demand that I break the law or I will be 'fired." I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was promised "old" leads to get me started but I wasn't expecting leads that were close to 3 years' old. Since another CA law prohibits us from calling anyone after 18 months of the initial contact, my only way to reach these people was door-to-door. That's only because I am honest. Other agents just go ahead and call. I was going to used earnings from these old leads to finance my lead costs but realized I may never make a sale. I met with a family Saturday and the cost for this 83 year old man for $10,000 was $275 per month. The family expressed they had recently purchased a $10,000 policy from American General for only $139/month. That is the end of my story about Senior Life Insurance Company. I am so happy I went ahead and terminated with them. My Spirit was telling me this was the wrong time and this time I listened.

Thanks again guys for posting. If I had any doubts, I now know for certiain I was right. The only other company that asked that I pay fees in advance was FFG Life. They, too, have plenty of rip off reports and bad reviews of ripping off agents.
