My mortgage has been sold to SPS to handle my loan and payments. I'm set up with on Autopay, via contract, for a Bi-Monthly autopay payment. I received a letter from SPS showing I was almost two months behind (4 payments) on my loan and being charged late fees. I called customer service and was informed my account still shows I'm active on autopay.

When I asked, "so what's the problem" I was put on hold several times but the person helping could not get an answer. I took his name and EXT and he said he'd get back in a day or two. Never did. I called his extension and got another person who knew nothing. He said the person I wanted will call when he gets back that day. He never did.

I contacted the Ombudsman via a formal complaint form. I never heard back from him either. To make things worse when I filed complaints with major government agencies such as government-run CFPA( Consumer Financial Protection Agency) or other complaint sites they claimed they've never heard of Select Portfolio Servicing but they did take my complaint and all relevant information.

What is really scary are the hundreds of much more serious complaints on the BBB or Consumer Affairs website and many others. This will seriously hurt my credit and accrue more and more late fees since the company ignores my situation.

I am looking for everyone that has had problem with spservicing as I am ready with a contingency attorney to file a large class action lawsuit. This company needs to pay for all the scam they have generated over the past 6 years at least.

This company is the worst, they over charge me for about 2 years now in escrow, about $500 per month that's $6000 per year! without any real justification, I did contact them many many times via phone, certified letter, give them the full brake down but they don't care, I am 100% right, 2 different accountant also did check the numbers and I am right, they over charge me. They answer is you pay or we will forclose you. I never missed a payment and never will, I have no choice than to file this report now!

After many calls, they refuse to transfert me to a manager as well. Thay are really the worst in the industry. They scam you, take your money and tell you that you have 0 right!

Before you do a mortgage, make sure that company will not be the one that will take care of it after, otherwise you might end up paying much more than you should.

Can't believe those scammer are still out there!

We lost our home to foreclosure apparently in October 2017 but the shyster lawyer we had nor the mortgage company told us this. Last week I received a 1099-A tax form listing the balance of the principle outstanding and it's false! Way more than it should be! Select NEVER sent us any paperwork showing what was owed and what the property sold for.

Looking it up the Fair Market value is at $414,,506 not the $557,078.16 they listed on the 1099 plus if the home sold for $274,100 that left a true balance of $140,406 not $399,930.38. I am writing IRS to alert them to these false taxes. Seems I am not the only one who has a bad experience with this group. Question is: Why are they still in business and why haven't they been charged with illegal acts?

Selectpotfolio spent 2 years on a refinnce program ,,,having us send payroll,,,w 2...tax...bank ,,,utilities,,,,etc multiple times,,,the same items over and over,,which would get lost or "not recieved:, we hired an outside firm to engage on our behalf,,,and they thru that out after months of the same,,,,,they gave us a payoff amount which was on a recorded line ,, ,then lied and said they would not honor that,,,,denied us short sale,,,,would not accept a sale by our realestate agent,,,refused our offer to pay a little less each month for the payment, and we are waiting on our last payment,,,refused also..to be returned,,after multiple requests,,.all this so they can force a sale,,,,,they demanded we pay double our home value to sell it or retain it,,,,the home will not sell at sherrif sale for close to their requested amount,,,,so they would be taking a lose.we want to retain our home,,,,we also understand that there are hundreds of complaints filed against select portfolio..

On August 10th I received a letter stating this is a Notice of Default Right to Cure. The letter was providing information regarding the lein on my real estate property. The real property was discharged in bankruptcy and the second mortgage was put in the bankruptcy. The loan had been sold to Wilmington Savings Fund Society d/b/a Christiana Trust. The bankruptcy names HSBC .the original lender that was bankrupt on. This letter states I owe $6318.72 immediately in full. There was never any information passed that this loan was sold or to be sold all communication still came from original loan holder.

Since October 2016 SPS has held up the money that our insurance company paid to have our home repaired from a windstorm. The insurance check was sent to us for $25,079, we signed it as we were told to do and then mail it to SPS to sign since the check was over $10,000.

This is June 2017 and our home is still not repaired because SPS won't release any funds. We have been getting the run-a-round for months and our home (roof, gutters, fencing) are all getting worse as it rains. Countrywide sold our loan to SPS via Bank of America during the fall out. What a mess. Don't ever get entangled with this devilish company. Why isn't the government doing something about this company?

I can only pray that they get closed down for unfair practices. I have never spoken to the same person twice and many times they have "accidentally" on purpose hung up because they know they are wrong as two left shoes on the wrong feet.

SPS is paying off judges to foreclose on people homes. I have reported the SPS and the judges in the state of Georgia to the cfpb. I asked SPS for a loan modification in February of 2016 and they kept telling me to send in paperwork. I sent in the paperwork and they said they did not get the paperwork. I did this for 12 months. After 12 months they put my home in foreclosure this is considered wrongful foreclosure . I plan to file a temporary restraining order and sue them in court. I want SPS to verify that I owe Wells Fargo the debt on my house. I know SPS will try to pay the judges but I will file petitions to fight wrongful foreclosure in Georgia. I will sue SPS and the court system

Add me to the lawsuit. Chase sold our loan to sps while in modification process in 2011. Immediately our monthly payments increased by $300 and the amount owed increased by $20,000. Our original loan amount was $104,000. After bing in our home for over 15 yrs we now owe sps $120000. How can that be?

Me and my wife applied for a loan modification on our mortgage with Select Portfolio in July 2016, we were approved for a HAMP Tier 2 loan, we were notified of approval in September 2016. We were paying $642.59 a month, but I changed jobs and then had to find another job, at the time and were having financial difficulties. Select Portfolio lowered our payment to 267.93 and gave us a three month trial period. Keep in mind that we had problems from the very beginning when we applied, they claimed that we did not send documents, so they could not proceed with the modification, we had to contact the Texas Dept. of Banking to file a complaint. Once an investigation was opened everything else ran smoothly. We recently received the terms of the new loan through the HAMP program, they are as follows: Principle loan amount was $28617.40, the new term is 236 payments of 267.93 with a balloon payment of 18695.76 at the end of the note, we only owed four more years and with this new loan modification, it will be increased to 20 years, and after computing all the cost we will end up paying $51,000.00 extra dollars in fees for this modification. I have spoken with Select Portfolio regarding the outrageous amount of fees on top of the balloon payment at the end of the note and they explained that I had two options either accept the modification or continue to pay my original loan, she further explained that the modification loan is geared towards lowering my monthly payment and hopefully in the future my financial situation improves, so that I can refinance my home. Fortunately for us, I have gained employment in which I can make my original loan payment, even though it will make things tight for us, but I believe that this company is dishonest and does not really want to help anybody but themselves, I don't know if their practices are illegal, but I do believe that someone should investigate their practices for the sake of those who are not as fortunate as we were.

This company is a rip off. They are in the business of taking your home especially when you have been subjected to a very very bad predatory loan as i have been without knowing. I know you will think I should have known but my circumstances odd as they are are real and true and a ex friend who know my situation and worked for a company and now I know she acted like she was going to help and only helped hurt me. However SPS who purchased my mortgage from another company first wells fargo than chase and than SPS. My interest rate is over 7.3% untill 2020. When i could no longer afford my mortgage due to disability i fell behind. Waiting for SSDI was almost two years but i waited for SSD to restart and kept SPS aware of the status. They continued to except partial payment of at least 500.00 a month until i sent them a letter stating that I was given a date with the court and that i know it would be approved for my SSDI. Thousands of late fees and other charges. The whole time they were suppose to be modifying my amount according with the Hemp/Hamp and government help programs and here we are two years alter with no modification. March of this year my first check started and they wanted more than my check was per month. They are forcing me to get a tenant and than another i have asked the to accept my whole SSID check until they modify and they will not take it they say. Wait for the modification. Meanwhile the late fees are going up and up and other charges i dont even know where they come from. I am working with an agency now for over a year and still no finality. i even feel at times the agency is working with the bank/SPS and not in my favor. I get mails pilled up and phone calles often even though they know about my social anxiety and how bad it is one of the reasons i am not working. After sending and re sending forms they say i didnt fax, though i have proof of faxes, still no modification. i go to court mediations with the bank and the agency and still SPS harasses me via phone calls and mailings. They have even started calling family and friends asking for me and telling them that i am being sued and they have been looking for me and trying to serve me warrants and that if i dont make my self available for the warrant they are moving forward in court. Wait..... but i have been in court and still go for mediations so why are they calling people that. Know me and telling them my business. i am a private person and this is stressing me out very badly and adding to my dissibility. i need help. i cant sleep but 2-3 hours and then my worry and thoughts start. i don't want to give up my home with out the fight yet its stressing me terribly. What can I do? i seem to get no relief or real solution. Im forced to go to court and meetings and my anxiety they know makes it hard for me to do subjecting me to further harm. I want to pay them. I want nothing for free, i just needed help at a time when I could not help myself and until i could do for myself. My thoughts are if I were dead i would be better off though i am not suicidal but peace with God would be much better than what they are putting me through. Its affected my relationship with family and my most important , my daughter,. Our relationship was so tight and loving and its so strained at this time. I need an attorney, class action, or help somehow someway.

I believe that in Oct 2014 my mortgage was bought by Select Portfolio Services Inc. from OCWEN. I did not receive notification from anyone that this had happened. I had automatic bank transfer for our mortgage with OCWEN. SPS received payment for Oct-Nov 2014, then they stopped collecting the mortgage payment. In Nov 2014 I had a heart attack, this laid me up for awhile. In Feb 2015 we found out that Select Portfolio Services had acquired our loan. The way we found out was that they (SPS) were starting foreclosure proceedings. After multiple times of trying to repay what we owe (SPS refusing our payment every time, even though it was their mistake).

We are now in the world of loan modification and repayment. I have sent them all the information that they have asked for, 3-4 times. Every time I get a answer from them that they did not receive the fax or the fax broke down, transmission problems, etc. These people have no class, instead of working with us they would rather ruin you. I had no problems with OCWEN or Chase our previous loan agencies. We have lived in our home for 12 yrs and now we are being forced out. I know now that I have been SCAMMED by SPS. Something should be done about these people. Decent homeowners are being forced out of their homes for no reason. I will be contacting the FBI and the Attorney General of Florida.

Understand

I know what your saying. We went through it all too. I just don't have the energy to fight them. So we summered and did I the paper dance and phone calls. We finally got a mod. But I need to recover our credit before I find a real bank to take our loan. I have 1 year before my interest goes up oh and yes they have the right to post your house on zillow as a foreclosure, they did it to us too. Sucks.

This report is being written due to the facts listed below'

1. Repeating letters of same information on the same day, dated the same.

2. Constantly attaching additonal unnecessay FEES.

3. Threaten forclosure-as they just did-second time within a yea after loan modification.

4. Lying about mail be sent out-I keep all correspondences that comes from them.

5. Not wanting to tell me who the Morgae Holder is.

With the fees that SPS keeps attaching, I will never be able to pay for this home that I will not loose.

We believe that SPS...is owned by Bank of America...and sold our note and separated from our deed..and made ten times mor ein just over 7 years..they sold to National Mortgage Association and many otehrs and had made so much like over 34 million dollars already...and still collecting payments from us...tHis is ript off...to us...and also doubling the costs of our property insurance...and charging us..$2400 plus dollars amonth instead of..just $1,200 a month from modification...

This has to be resolved by not charging so mcu monthly payments...We hopr this is a valid complaint...

We just sold our home. It was transferred to SPS, Select Portfolio Servicing, Inc.

We had escrow balance. They refuse to refund back to us and keep telling us it is in the mail. They even send correspondence, stating that we will be getting our check. We call and they say it will be here next week. No check.

We filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and we did get a phone call back. Finally. But still, since June 6, 2016 date loan was paid in full. (we did get everything back stating that it was paid in full) Thank GOD! No refund of our escrow balance. They even gave us a 50.00 dollar fee to that. But at this point we just want our money. We received our Home Owners policy refund from Insurance company already, 10 days after closing for overpayment and yet, ,no money. Funny thing is I am a licensed mortgage lender. I do this everyday. When I tell my clients they will get their refund in 2-3 weeks. They get it. Not with this company. We don't know what else to do.

September of 2015, my husband became unemployed due to circumstances beyond his control. At that time my mortgage payment was $777. I contacted SPS to request a loan modification. They told me what to send and said that if I didn't think I could make payments during the decision period that was fine. Waited for their decision and when I got it I was shocked to see a repayment plan that was twice the amount of my normal payment and the appraisal of my property had so many wrong things, they took a picture of the outside, never bothering to knock on my door and ask me about the property. I called them and turned down the repayment plan and then I get a letter stating that I'm in default and to make an appointment with a credit counseling company to fill out a HAMP application.

Filled out the application, SPS continued to call, tape letters to my door saying they were trying to contact me, and sending the Act 91 letters, 2 in my name, 2 in my husband's name, and the same, only registered mail. HAMP application was denied, I appealed, more info was requested from me, so now I'm waiting to see if they approve it this time. I'm only 2 months behind but I feel SPS is doing whatever they can to get extra money out of me. They sent me a letter saying due to my modification, my interest rate was going from 5 something to 11 something. I sent them a note saying I had no modification and my mortgage was a fixed rate. They haven't called me about that yet. I continue to send them monthly payments of $650 since that is what my payment was before they said they were raising my interest rate. Wondering if I should call them and try to make payment arrangements.

Insurance company came out in June 2015 and gave the go ahead to replace the roof. The sent paperwork on the amount that would be paid. The first check came with no problems. The old shingles were removed and newe shingles were installed. They took 4 1/2 months to inspect the roof. At this time we were waiting for the remaining payment. Almost a year has gone by and they still have not paid. They are asking for the same paperwork to be sent to them over an over. Claiming that they never received them.

Three and a half years ago I was told by Social Security that I had earned too much money and they would not pay me to the tune of $10,000. I had a mortgage with Chase and this made me late in paying them. Chase threatened to forclose even though I tried repeatedly to modify the mortgage. So I went into Chaper 13 Brancruptcy protection until I could get back on my feet. I am a single senior so $10,000 is a lot of money for me. Then without my knowledge Chase sold my mortgage to Select Portfolio Servise .

I have been paying the mortgage to SPS plus to the Chaper 13 Trustee on a monthly basis. A couple of weeks ago I got a call from my lawyer saying that SPS wanted the court to remove my protection for non payment of the mortgage. The form that I was sent says that I had not made a payment since August 2015 which is not true. I went through 3.5 years of bank statements to prove that I had made the payments. My latest payment to SPS was March 2016 and I am about to send another. SPS wants $10,500 to cure the missed payment or they will go to the court to get my protection removed.

I have the statements saying that I did pay but of course the checks are all "electronic" and I have no physical checks. The latest statement I received from SPS is very confusing. I have read so many bad reviews of this company I am very nervous to send them any more money fearing that it will not be credited to my mortgage. I need a new lawyer because I think that my current one is in cahoots with SPS. Any help I can get I would greatly appreciate.

House not the car or boat take for collection.

We were approved for a loan modification and then shorty afterwards we were told that they did not do modifications.

We had 5 potential buyers for the short sale of our home, but do to select portfolio they denied each and everyone of them.

We are still trying to see if we can qualify for some type of modification or loan to try and safe our house.

Biggest fraud people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SPS are the most awful people to deal with. They do not care about helping people and they have no intention of helping home owners save their homes. All SPS is lie lie and lie. They are a total NIGHTMARE. From all the stress SPS caused my family, my father suffered a massive heart attack which took his life. I truly hope this company goes out of business. They don't deserve to be doing any type of business.

I closed on my home in April 2007 and three months later Green tree servicing sold my loan to Select Portfolio Servicing LLC. I successfully paid mort gage on time for the first two years even after being forced to make a career change due to the implode of the mortgage industry in 2007. I went from earning on average 10k per month to just under $4k each month. Not to mention not more than 3 months after I closed on my first home, the value dropped more than 200k. So, my mortgage was severly underwater, and I was considered 'underemployed'. After 2 years of making payments, I became ill and was out of work for almost 90 days, short term disability didn't cover all of the bills completely. I wasn unable to make my tax payment, so SPS increased my payments by $286 to cover the payment they made on my behalf. I went to request a loan modification since i had no equity to refinance. After almost two months of the run around with paperwork issues they granted a loan modification that would have perfectly suited my needs. Two months after making the lower payments, they sent another loan modification (an adjustment) with completely different loan terms thst increased the payment almost 300%. By that time, they had paid my overdue taxes and put my payments to the rear and said if I didn't take the new loan terms, I would have to pay them 13k+ in order to keep my home. So I signed and took on additional work to keep up with the payments. For 6 months I scrimped and cut corners to make the payments. I fell behind one month and when I tried to make half a payment, they said they couldn't take it. The following month I had 1 and 1/2 months payment and they wouldn't take a payment stating 'we will only take full payments for each month you are in arrears'. While I was coming up with the capital to pay, they sold my house in a foreclosure auction and never notified me at all!!! I came home one day to a piece of paper (not even a legal notice) from the "new owner" stating they bought my house the week before in a foreclosure auction. The new owners threatened to change the locks if I didn't move immediately. Within two weeks, I was homeless. Those bastards took my home without as much as a phone call. To this date, I still have never received any documentation or proof that my home was sold in an auction or that the foreclosure even happened. But when I called SPS they confirmed thst they hired a FC attorney and that my home was sold in an auction. I demanded to see some papperowrk or proof that they contacted me to make restitution of the payments that I had been trying to pay them (that they wouldn't take) and the SPS' representative said " was within their rights as creditor to seize their property without any legal notice". I went to meet with a lawyer and her response was " Virginia is the wild wild west of real estate." They must pay!!

After numerous modifications that of course didn't get approved. We have been at war with Sps since 2004. They file foreclosure notices around twice a year. I owned my home outright. I took out a home improvement loan. That I now know was actually a mortgage with Fairbanks Capitol, Aka Equicredit, Aka Select Portfolio Servicing.

They are criminals in the first order. My husband lost his job. Used all savings to make payments. We got two months behind. We worked out a payment amount to catch-up. We were required to send payment Western Union. We sent payment by required date due. Sps refused payment. We recieved notice of Sheriff sale. Then the modifications became popular.

We had our hopes up to save our home. I lost count of how many mod's we did, to no avail. We had to come up with a couple thousand dollars just to start a modification, along with higher payments for three months. After the three mo. trial period, we were always denied approval. We completed so much paper work.It was like applying to get into Fort Knox. Sps always had same reason, missing paperwork, unsigned documents. Since they have refused payments, my credit is ruined. Can not even get approved for refinance to get away from this company. We now have stress-related health issues. This is our family home. Lived here since 1979.

I have filed many consumer complaints, to no avail. I am not the only family who has been threatened by Sps.Many have already lost their homes.

I can afford my home. It should have been payed up by now. Currently I have to file bankruptcy to stop the sheriff sale on my home dated for Oct. 15, 2015. There are no affordable attorney's to help the consumer. All the attorney's I have had only want to file bankruptcy for us for a high fee. I will be filing on my own this time. We need attorney's to fight for the home owner and put these companys out of business. The whole court and justice system needs revamped. Sick of hardworking middle class people getting the worst of everything.

Select Portfolio Services Mortgage Company is charging me over 1000 a month saying I owe 800 into escrow. My balance is around 84,000 at 7.5 interest which is around 600 and something per month. I never paid this amount. I asked what is my regular payment never got a response.

  • Aug 7, 2015

Select Portfolio recently provided us with a modification. the modification however did not change our payment at all as a matter of fact it increased it. We originally were not going to accept it beause of this, however after a phone conversation with one of their Relationship Managers we became convinced that it was in our best interests since it would at least bring the debt current. We did so only to discover afterwards by another manager that we were still in default. then anothe manger called saying the modification was still in progress. then another manager calls saing the first did not know what he was talking about. When I asked for her to have him all me directly the person on the phoned agreed. The next day yet another manager calls instead of the one I requested stating that the one I wish to speak to was not in for another week. they say they record all conversations yet cannot fiind the one in which their agent advised us to sign the document and have our mortage delinquency cured. so as of now we are either still being processed as one agent says, in default per another or awaiting a payment adjustment based on our submittal of property insurance per another. We know not where we stand.

In January 2003, we were financed with a "interest-only" 80/20 mortgage. Our payments consisted of interest portion only and made it possible for us to obtain a larger home for less money per month. Our loan was attached to a balloon payment which would be due 10 years from the initial date of the loan. Our plan was to sell or refi at that time.

However, in January 2013, our two income household became a one income housesold since the company which my wife worked was sold and laid all the employees off permanently. For the next 6-9 months our finances were very tight. During this time, I saught after a loan modification due to the layoff and decrease in our income. Our mortgage at that time was with JPMorgan Chase and had a perfect payment history. Never late!

Well, as fate would have it....the balloon note came due and the modification wasn't happening fast enough. It's 6/11/15 and we still have not finalized the mod. Mainly because we have since done research and found out about the Civil Action Suit that was taken against JPMorgan Chase. We now realize the activities of SPS mirror the exact situation many found themselves in while dealing with Chase. We are seeking help to keep our home.

Chase started the modification, but midstream handed us off to SPS 6/2014. The modification that was offered to us increased the payment, and shortened the term. Obviously we could not agree to such terms. For years, we both carried between 772 and 683 credit scores. We are now in the 500's. Our credit is ruined, we are receiving foreclosure letters, phone calls right and left, and our insurance has been cancelled on the house.

The thing is...we were never late on our payments when we inquired about the modification. We were only inquiring to prevent the very thing that has/is happening.

We were advised NOT to make payments during the processing of our modification. "advised against it" I know, we were in disbelief too. But, we followed their advise. Our payments were starting to show late. Our credit score started to drop. We were being put in the position, sign the modification or lose the house.

We have since been told, we have to pay $13K to catch up arrearage and added fees. We are currently paying bi-weekly payments to SPS above the amount due per month to help us catch up. However, this last week we received a certified letter mentioning foreclosure still.

We need legal advice or something. There has to be a way for us to keep our home and get our credit back. Please help!

I have been dealing with this so called company way to long. We first had countywide then went to bank of an america then wells Fargo. So has been service provider for our mortgage since loan went to bank of america. This has been a total NIGHTMARE. It has gotten so bad my mother has moved out of the house and is now going though a short salewwhich as also become another nightmare all by itself. My mother is 90 and has leaved in her home for some 20 years and just finally give up and decided to do a short sale. We had a buyer for the house. Now, sps said yes to the sale under the condition the buyer had to wait 90 days before he sold the house. Needless so say the buyer didn't want to wait that long so he back iut. In less then 10 days we had a buyer that agreed to 90 days and also offered more money and is paying more for then house (not by much) and sps sps wants 50,000 more. This makes no since to me at all and it is now may and this process started in September of 2014. And still waiting. Of course they can't get their paperwork in order also. Now, if I did what they have done to their customers I would have lost my job along time agol. I don't care if I was the CEO or worked in the mail room.
