They called our small company with some lines about credit card processing and PCI compliance. They said that they needed to go over a PCI compliance survey questionnaire.
We thought they were sanctioned by the credit card processing company that we used formerly called First Data. They got our company from First Data processing company database which we used before.
They asked us how many computers we had and told us that we needed to run a scan on the computers and run a scan on our network for vulnerabilities. they tell you to go to their website to get your IP address.
They sales agents are well trained on high pressure sales with scare tactics such as
"you will be held responsible"
"you will be liable"
if you don't, do the services. The services that they offer are not needed at all. It is all high pressure sales game for unnecessary services. They are not required at all for PCI compliance.
Totally unnecessary. It is nothing short of online theft.
They charged $250 for vulnerability testing and $39 x3 for staff training for credit card use. When I said that I have to think about it they said that it had to be done of we wouldn't be compliant. I gave them my credit card information.
I called them back and they refused to refund my money.
Beware: you will never see that money again. AMEX knows the company is a fraud and returned my money.
Security Metrics is a scam operation. They have a polished webiste but no phone number displayed. What kind of company has no phone number displayed.
This is white collar crime. If you read this report, want to end white collar crime. contact the attorney general's office and file a complaint againt security metrics. Only you can make this end.
If you make the mistake of using the services of this company and decide to cancel or you are no longer in business, good luck getting rid of these people. They will keep showing you as non compliant on Goole searches 20 years after you no longer use or need their services.
I am surprised they are still in business. A class action lawsuit is imminent. It's only a matter of time.
