Seabrook Harbor & Marine Reviews

  • Jun 9, 2022

I contracted with Seabrook Harbor Marina, New Orleans to repair my outdrive March 26. 2022. I was promised electricity immediately, because I live on my boat. The boat was put on a concrete cradle that is normal where it stayed and I lived on it for 2 1/2 months.

Yes 2 1/2 months to do a job that takes 6 7 hours by the marine association. I had to pay $415.00 to pay an electrician just so I could have a fan in terrible heat. I was promised electricity where they paid no attention to me. I did not expect A/C but expected to be back in my slip in 14 to 17 days. 85 days is just reprehensible. Why did they do this to me? You will hear this question many times because no one can put a logical reasoning to this question.

When I made my inquire after my initial arrival I was told to go purchase an adapter because arrogantly told me they don’t have any. This was an other blatant lie for the workers showed me five of them. This was all an other lie by the infamous David Murtz. Again I was promised electricity by David one of the owners. He is a despicable person. He never made an attempt to help me and Im out $415.00 having to hire an electrician to wire directly into my panel and disconnect at a later date..

Get this the work as of today going on 2 3/4 months is still not complete. Im living on my trailer but the people are wonderful helping me in every way possible. They told me I can come to their home and stay with them until they find out what was done on my boat in 2 1/2 months.

They offered this because Im a good honest person and this is important as you read this for better understanding.Remember my boat is not complete with absolutely no explanation. This is not the previous mechanics fault but the owners who would not allow the mechanics for some unknown reason to everyone, to do the work on my outdrive. NOTE: They treat their workers like slaves and talk terrible to them.

I have contacted five boat mechanics and repair facilities and they all said this is a 6 to 7 hour job. This all started the beginning of June requesting my bill up to date. The work was still not even close to done and I started requesting my bill to depart their facilities one week ago to no avail. 5 days later I had to pay an attorney to serve them with a demand letter to release my boat, and home.

Remember this boat is my home. Update I have the boat at a new facility where it is now complete and electricians are working on specifics that Seabrook were actually afraid to do. Yes they did not know how to install a specialized Catholic protection unit. They are not prepared for intricate work and you need to be aware they will say they did work and because it’s hidden they say it’s complete and you take the brunt with destruction and dangerous situations in the near future.

This demand service from my attorney made them very angry and David got confrontational with me whereas I thought he was going to hit me. His works said the same. Then the owners started threatening me in many ways, one stating we are going to put your f#@**ing boat in the water and let it sink. This threat was made 6 times by David and Jeffery Murtz the owners. All I asked them was… Please give me my bill so I can leave where I can take the boat to a reputable company. The atmosphere was thick with hate for me.

Note: I have noticed not many reviews to date. Workers of Seabrook told me they pay a large amount of money to clean up the web per negative reviews. If I catch them doing this I will have them prosecuted by the Federal Trade commission. This is against the law if proven.

I have professional individuals working on a seabrook shadow review site. We already started building a shadow review site called seabrookharbomarinereview.com. We already bought the domain.

Please read this carefully… What does this tell you about this very, very suspect company confirmed in negatives by dozens of other boaters in the New Orleans area.? This is all true. I am a nice person and have never said a wrong word to anyone in my 2 1/2 months stuck in their facility. I have never sued anyone in my life. This is a virtue.

I was nice to every person I met on their facilities including their customers. No one will say otherwise. Yes there are two sides to every story but I have been a perfect example of a good customer living in 113 degree heat with no recognition and trying to understand why they would not assign a mechanic to my job. The workers felt terrible for me and helped me as much as they could. I have recorded all the heat in the boat. The highest heat was 113 degrees.

They could care less about me in any way and many others have said they have been treated the same way. Now I have to sue them for charges and I am going to go back a couple of years. I was made to pay to get out of Seabrook to a new facility that is now finishing their mess they made presently and 2 years ago. They stacked ridiculous charges that I was forced to pay to leave.

David put $350.00 on the bill to put the boat on my trailer. I asked him is this legal? He screamed I have to pay people that were just sitting watching to see if there was going to be a fight. He removed the charge and kept waving the invoice 2 inches from my face in conjunction with the legal service demand. The workers said they were holding me hostage.

Please understand this… They made me pay crazy off the wall charges or not leave. I had no recourse except the courts and this could take months. Thats still in the making. So now I am letting you know what could happen to you and it has happened with many others. I had no choice or they would not let me leave. They charged me 80.00 for a quart of paint that I requested to repair (3) 18 inch bare spots that they did not paint when I contracted them at $4,000.00 2 years ago.

The boat came from Michigan and it never had a bottom job. It was spotless. So the 18 inch white spots stuck out like a lightning bolt. Again, I have all the photos. Their workers brought this terrible situation to my attention. This happens when they do not paint the jack stand areas after completing the job. I was told they do this all the time and I am living proof.

I highly recommend checking out this very suspect company before you check out your options for your boat repair. There are so many things they can hide and you will never know it. I talked to other mechanics that have worked for them and just other facilities on this hidden work subject. My advantage to all this presently, was I was there to witness everything, and when I contracted for a new gimble bearing, both bellows this was not done in the past. I watched every part of the disassembly on this drive and I have most of the old parts for review. Now this is a bit over 2 years ago They told me all the above work I have been discussing was all complete.

2 years ago when I contracted Seabrook to do a bottom job in Trinidad paint including a new gimble bearing and two new bellows. The day they said they were going to put the gamble and two bellows into the drive, I went to the West Bank and was gone for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I remember this well for I was signing papers for a brand new truck. This time is exact to 5 minutes.

To my amazement upon my return they said the outdrive is done in completion when I returned. At this time I was in the gravel side of their facility no concrete for the outdrive roller stand to roll intricate movements for placement. The roller lift for a heavy outdrive does not work in gravel in any way shape or form. I did not realize any of this back then so accepted this as truth.

I could not see any of this work for it’s hidden inside. Fellow boaters…This is impossible. Last month when we took the out drive down I was fortunate to be right there and others confirmed that this work is 10 years old at minimum. They did none of this work. They lied to me and did not do this work. They lied to me as a customer and this non work and their lying is very possible the cause of a very bad accident that put me back at Seabrook. I can’t talk about this situation right now.

This is why you have to find a good company because you are not going to be there and they will screw you like they did me. My boat is 27 years old with 151 hours on the engine and boat. It’s a very nice boat so people say. Bottom line is they did not do the work I paid them lots of money for and the mainstay of my problems today. They are the blame.

I did go a bit further and did some detective work with help. I contacted the old mechanic that quit them and he told me he was never told to put bellows or a new gimble bearing in my outdrive. With that said I paid for all the work. It was never done! It was all a sham!

This is information for a different time but I want others to beware of this bad company in the New Orleans area. I made one of the worst decisions in my life getting involved with this company and it is costing me in health and finances. Not much fun living in average inside boat temperature of 106 degrees. 2 weeks I can handle but 2 1/2 months is just unbelievable, for no reason!

There is much more about this suspect company and if you just make the proper inquires and ask their business neighbors about them you will get the same answers. I have been making public inquires on a daily basis since my thankful departure. This is a bad company that does very, very suspect work where they hide and cover up their messes and charge you for things they do not do.

This is easy to do on a boat. Please think about this statement for it’s true and it can be proven. I understand you are saying to yourself this person is just pissed at them for difference. This is true. With that said I have considerable proof of their wrongdoings. I am a seasoned boating person helming 160 foot commercial saturation dive boats in 100 foot seas in the North Sea. I know what Im talking about and this company is a bunch of ignorant individuals and dishonest arrogant people. I have been hurt badly in many, many ways by Seabrook Harbor Marine, New Orleans.

I am going to ask the BBB to help get the ridiculous charges that I was held hostage for 80.00 for paint they charged me on my invoice that the job was never completed 2 years ago. This work was for work they did not do, my work to make there illegal plight right for my boats correct bottom job.

2 hours at 75.00 per hour to repair the work I already paid them for and they did not perform. Total $150.00 I have all the photos to show the proof of 3 18 inch bare spots on my bottom. $22.00 for disc to remove 3 inches of barnacles in their untreated area.

Sub Total $252.00

415.00 for hiring an electrician to receive electricity and disconnect to my panel only. No A/C. I have all the receipts from the electrician.

Sub Total $415.00

The Better Business Bureau is working on getting the money they owe me as of this writing..

Total due to my credit card in the form of a credit for crazy charges…

$667.00

In closing this company Seabrook Harbor Marine New Orleans is not a professional company in my opinion. It looks pretty but looks can be deceiving. This is also the opinion of dozens of other boaters that I have met in the last three months.

Seems like more every day pop up as I now venture to other facilities buying parts etc. Don’t go by me for of course Im judgmental as for what they have done to me. Check out other people. It is a good recommendation to check with others and ask many questions for there are many that feel as I do about a very suspect company called Seabrook Harbor Marine, New Orleans. My bill where the work was not even close to completion for the shoddy work they performed was extensive.

Lastly, I have an appointment with a renowned Volvo Penta specialist from the factory where he is visiting New Orleans. He told me he will analyze the situation and to go over all the photos and pieces I have retained for his unbiased opinion on everything. If I am wrong in any way with my opinion I will retract and apologize on the old 2 year work. That said this is close to impossible to happening. There is to much negative evidence.
