What a bunch of scam artist! They came to our home on a Tuesday without a single tool in hand and told us we needed a new A/C. Mind you we live in Tampa, FL. It is September and like 100 degrees outside. A/C was still cooling house to 70! Just had an ink pen and paper in hand, never opened the unit, plugged anything in, nothing!!! Ok... we thought. We are not in the A/C business. He had other quotes to show us that he was less expensive so no need to shop around too. So, off he goes with our credit card. Card was not to be charged until installation - Wednesday morning the next day. So later Tuesday night I noticed some water on the floor in front of the air handler. We had this happen the year prior and it was just a clogged drain. So against my husband wishes, I played ac repair person. The drain was so full of water that it had soaked into the filter not allow for the unit to work properly. I removed the filter and that was it. Starting cooling back from 70 that it was maintaining to the 67 I leave it at. No more ice on the pipe thing. However, the tech that came out earlier had already sold us a $10,000 plus unit because ours was no good and was going to soon be outdated and unrepairable. So, I pick up the phone and call the company. You get dispatch from some state far far away, they were going to call the Tampa store and have the install canceled. So nothing, no call back. In the morning, AC still cooling by the way at 67 and here come the installers. Mind you I called again in the morning to say do not come, but no call back either. Both the installers come in (Must say these guys were awesome! ) Both agreed that I did not need an A/C, showed me where the line was clogged and said yes, that would have cause my issue. (They had tools by the way!!!) So long story short, the original tech shows up shortly to tell me I do need a new A/C. That those guys did not know what the hell they were talking about and when it is 100 outside, I will be sad and sorry that I did not buy this A/C. I asked him to leave and so that was that…. Wrong. Our credit card was charged for $10,408.00. Mind you we did not get a new unit, no install even took place. Here is where the real battle has begun. Trying to get a credit. I am on day 9 and still have not had anyone return my calls and anytime. You cannot speak directly to a supervisor and the accounting department does not take calls directly according to Ralph Johnson, who is employed as some sort of manager (according to him). Was finally given a local # (one here in Tampa) but his voicemail is full and he does not pick up the phone! Beware. Thank goodness we used American Express.
