Scott's Auto Center Reviews
I bought a used car that was mostly spotless and after about 2 weeks it had gotten dirty from my wife driving on the dirt road to the barn where she keeps her horses. The truck definitely had some mud on it, so I brought it to Scott's Auto Center for a wash from their detail department. They were very polite and everything went well until I walked out to get my car. I noticed on the passenger door that there was a mark about 14+ inches long that had about 4 or 5 small dents along the mark. I rubbed my finger over the mark and it came right off where I rubbed it, so the mark was on top of the paint (which was good, but the dents not so much). The mark looked like it may have been rubber or plastic.
I immediately went back inside and told the gentlemen at the front desk that I had a mark on the car and he came out to take a look. I showed him how the mark came off when rubbed and also how the mark perfectly lined up with the 4 or 5 small dents. I also told him that the mark and dents were not on there before because for 1: I new every mark and dent on the whole vehicle because I had just bought it. 2: Since the mark was on top of the paint and easily rubbed off, it had to have happened after the car was washed, because the mark would have come off during the wash. He agreed that it had to have happened after the wash because of how the mark rubbed off so easily. He told me not to touch it and called the detailers out and I explained the situation to them and they rubbed the mark off the door and looked at me like "You good now?". I said what about the dents that literally lined up with the mark perfectly? Can you wipe those off too? He said "We did not dent your car." I told him they had to of done it because it had to happen after the wash. Either he magically was able to wipe off all the other mud and dirt on top of the mark and leave the mark that easily wipes off with your finger or it happend after the wash. He then just accused me of 4 wheeling the truck and doing it myself and said that we have cameras that could prove it. I said "Great! Lets go look at it".
We went back inside where he said something to the guy at the desk and then disappeared. I told the guy at the desk that I wanted to see the video. He told me that he couldn't pull up the video that ADT had to do it after the weekend. He took down my info and said he would call early the next week to review it.
After two weeks, he never called and I went back in and he said that the owner hasn't been able to do it yet. I waited another week and went in again. He said that the owner had reviewed it and said that where I parked it before the wash, he could see the dents there. I told him that I would like to see that myself. He told me that the owner was not there and he would have him call me in to view the footage. To this date I still have not heard from them. They have NEVER contacted me even once.
I have now pretty much written off the incident as un-collectable as any footage that did exist is sure to have been over-written by now. I don't see how they can sit there and say that it wasn't them when the evidence of the mark absolutely proves that it had to be them, or that it happened within the couple of minutes that they parked the car in the parking spot with no other cars around and I walked out. It also seems that If I were the owner and had a customer accusing my company of denting his car and I had video footage proving otherwise, I would have saved a copy of that footage to show the customer.
They were very dishonest to say the least. If they could have shown me the footage proving me I was wrong then that would have been great, but they chose to not even do that. I imagine because the footage never existed in the first place. They never even tried to resove this issue one way or the other, which says to me that they don't care and I wouldn't my car to a place that does not care.
