Sanitas de Venezuela are ripping people off. Before traveling my mother of 84 years old visited them to inform that she was traveling abroad. They suggested her to put her contract in suspension for the duration of her travels, so she would not have to pay the premium. What they did afterwards is making sure that they will get rid of her contract after 17 years of being with the company.
Let's start by saying that when she signed the suspension, she understood that it was going to be during her stay outside the country, 6 months. However, they wrote down the maximum amount allowed by the contract of 18 months, and made her sign without notifying or better say making this 84 years old woman understand that she was signing for 18 months. They also did not informed her of all the conditions for the suspension.
With the suspension comes the conditions. If the person decides to cancel her abroad travelings and return, they reserve the right to readmitt and put a medical exam by one of their doctors as condition to re-establied the contract. Therefore, when my mother decided to return after only 2 months of the initial day of the suspension, they made her go to their offices once a week without any update making her get a number to get inline and wait for her turn. We need to be mindful that my mother uses a walker for assistance, and she is limitted on her movements. After almost a month and fifteen days of this tenure, I decided to get involve and solicited help from someone in the industry.
This person accompanied my mother on her previous to last visit to their offices in Santa Paula, Caracas Venezuela. When she saw how they were treating my mother, she made a quick note and made them signed on how many visits without replies, and on the ill treatment my mother was receiving at her advanced age and physical limitations. This certainly prompted actions on Sanitas de Venezuela part.
They informed her right there at the their offices that my mother was going to be subjected to a medical exam as condition to return her contract as active. Only a couple of days had past, when my mother received a call from a supervisor from the main office; her contract had been canceled and they were not even going to performing her the medical exam. No further explanation given.
They lured this 84 years old woman and widower into a set of circumstances to cancel her Health Insurance contract. They made sure that she was put into a situation where they can legally termine her affiliation. They are ripping people off specailly those of advanced age, so they will not have to pay for their policies. Sanitas de Venezuela should pay for what they did.
