This is regard to a Microsoft software purchase. I did an online search to find software vendors for Microsoft Visio. The search came back with a company called samsswoftware.com, selling Visio Professional 2010 for less than $200. I researched samsswoftware.com before giving them my credit card information, didn't find any bad press on-line, so went ahead with purchase. According to their sales policy, the license keys should have been emailed to me minutes after purchase.
Needless to say, I never received the keys.
I pinged their support email address ([email protected]) and asked them when I would recieve the license keys.
Got an email response about 11:15PM PT that night saying I would get keys after installation, which didn't make any sense*.
Did more research, still nothing bad found so assumed since it was an older version of Visio, maybe they handled license keys differently. However by now, I'm beginning to feel this purchase was a mistake and sent another email, asking them to cancel my order. They acknowledged the cancellation. Two days later, still no refund. Still no license keys. Called phone number listed in the posted transaction and it was bogus - i.e. out of service.
Called my bank (BofA) and spoke with the fraud department. They were able to see the refund is actually pending - but I'm not able to see - so that was a welcome surprise. However, I believe the only reason they refunded my money is because I pursued them. After I called their bogus number, researched the company listed on the bank transaction - SOFTWAREAEINC - (626) 861-9906 -did more research and found multiple others online that had been scammed by this same company.
*NOTE: You should always get license keys right after a software purchase, it's black and white. Software keys should not require any additional information from the buyer. A lot of companies, including Microsoft, allow you to run their software for 30 days as a trial, then it's no longer functional. Unaware buyers could easily be scammed by this - thinking the software they purchased is running fine, until day 31 - when it breaks.
