Salvation Army Reviews

I was going to donate some stuff my girlfriend had that had just passed away less than 2 days prior to my arrival at this place to donate. I rang the doorbell at the door at the recieving dock. I got no answer, but the dock door was open. I stepped inside and I was greeted by some arrogant AH that said, "HEY YOU CAN'T BE IN HERE". I told him I was donating some stuff but since you insist I throwing me that attitude, I'm outta here. He didn't stop there. He continued to throw out more insults towards me. Even becoming aggressive.

I called the commander and described the gentleman to her. She said she would look into it. Never got any call back from her. Got no appology from anyone. These people had no idea what I was going through by the recent passing of my loved one. Never again will I donate ANYTHING to this organization, NOT EVEN CASH IN THE KETTLES. This is supposedly an organization of helping people through there religious name but the attitude of workers STINKS! I'm fed up with these types of organizations who treat people with disrespect to donators.

Saturday November 30, 2019 LAHSA emailed a list of cold weather shelters to me and a friend. The Hollywood Blvd Salvation Army was on the list. It was rainy and cold that night as my friend and I, ventured out in the severe weather to find shelter.

We arrived at the Salvation Army around 8:00 p.m. and asked the security guard about the cold weather shelter. The woman behind the desk instructed us to go across the parking lot to the other building and ring the buzzer. A Hispanic, heavy set man approached us and said he was Lt. Freddy.

We told him why we were there. He said that the shelter was for youth only. He said that he would provide us with motel vouchers for at least a three day stay when the new funding came in after the 1st of December. The first was on a Sunday, and we knew that the funding would run out quickly.

Lt. Freddy told me five times to make sure I put his number in my phone. He said he would give us the vouchers that coming Wednesday. My friend and I didn't want to wait to call him Wednesday because the funding would run out. We started calling him on Sunday December 1st and left messages. We continued calling and leaving messages that Monday up until Wednesday evening.

We never heard anything back from Lt. Freddy. He never told us to speak to anyone about the vouchers other than himself. The next day, Thursday, I called the corporate office and left a message on Irene's voicemail letting her know that we were promised motel vouchers and Lt. Freddy never called us back.

I told her to contact me and give me the name of the person I could write a formal complaint with. Irene never called me back, instead she gave the information to the legal department. I did mail complaints to the headquarters in New York. Lawyers have left messages for me.

I let LAHSA know what happened, and they said Lt. Freddy committed fraud and to file a complaint with Los Angeles County. That Thursday night around 9:00 p.m. Lt. Freddy called my number from another phone other than work, and confronted me about making a complaint against him.
