When my family and I came to look at this dog, they claimed he was only aggressive around his food. He seemed playful but not aggressive. I double checked with them about this. They said again that it was only around his food. When we got him home, he did ok the first couple of days, although he started biting more and more when he was playing. We did not allow this. We tried to give him more exercise and this only seemed to cause him to get more aggressive. He bit my husband, my kids, and me multiple times and tried many others.
He started to try to intimidate all of us when he was told to leave something or simply be told no. He would do this by barking, growling, and biting. At one point he lunged to bite my husband in the face. He would have crazy outbursts out of nowhere and run around the house like a psycho, growling and trying to bite people. Oddly, he was never aggressive around his food.. weird.
When I brought this to Salt Lake County Animal Services attention, they told me they had no prior knowledge of this behavior with him. At this point we had only had him a week and the way those behaviors were so set in, I did not believe them. They claimed they would warn other potential adopters about this behavioral problem and that he would have to get training before they would put him up for adoption again. Two days later, I had a feeling I should check to see if they lied about that as well... They did. They completely lied in the post about his behavior and made absolutely no mention of his extremely aggressive behavior. I believe that this dog will seriously hurt someone. I also believe, based on his behavior, that we were not the first family to go through this with this dog. I almost feel like he just keeps making them money, all the while he has free room and board and they always get to keep the money when he returns. It's really tragic that someone will eventually be hurt by this dog and they have no problem with it.
Here's the new post with no mention of his aggressive behavior and outbursts. They also lied when they said he walks well on a leash. He also barks and tries to bite other people if you do take him on a walk.
The shelter staff has named me *Sherlock Bones*. I’ve been in the shelter since 06/01/2021.
The shelter staff describes me as a black and blue ticked, neutered male Bluetick Coonhound mixed breed. The shelter staff believes that I am approximately 1 year old.
