SafeLink Wireless Reviews

  • Apr 25, 2020

On or about March 22, 2020 I bought a phone from the website safelinkwireless.com. They sent me my LG Fiesta with the phone progamed to the wrong tower. I need T-Mobile they set for Verizen. I could not use the phone. I called and was told to send it back...all of what came in the box. It was been a nightmare since.

First of all, the phone did not need hands on repair. I found out that a tech support could have told me step-by- step over the phone how to reprogram the carrier.

Today is April 24th, 2020. No phone. Mia Jones, (who claims to be a supervisor but cannot write simple emails), informed me on Saturday that she does not have my phone. AFTER five weeks of back and forth emails, record numbers, invoice numbers, RMA numbers she no longer remembers me or my phone. Good thing I used a bankcard. Other employees who were of absolutely no help were Rose, Irwin, Brenda, and Ella Mae.

It is obvious that they are stealing phones! The wealthiest man in the world owns this company. His name is Carlos Slim Helu. Like he needs the money, right? Probably cartel money anyway.

The managers do nothing and disconnect you. And, that is after hell getting through to a manager. They should not have CA Life Line service.

All they do is lie of getting a phone then youhave to come up with all kinds of proof of whatever you can think of while they are dragging their feet !!!

To make a long story short, the phone is locked and can only be unlocked by cricket wireless. I have called them numerouse times only to be told the phone did not come from them when I have the sales receit as well as the order information. It states that I can not retrn for refund after 7 days. Well it took over 7 days trying to get the phone activated. Most of the customer service reps. did not know that safelink had cell phones for sale other than their own.

Two months in a row I have purchased online phone time from safelink/trac phone and they have received extra money. I have a concern that others may not be aware of what they ae doing. Last month I purchased a monthly cardfor 17.78. A flag popped up saying it did not accept my card to use another form of payment. I did so and it popped up again even tho I used my debt card th second time. I then checked and found they had charged both my cred and debit card. And the phone still didn't work. I called them afte rabout 2 hours the yadmitted they received 2 payments and would refund my in 10 days on one of the accounts. When I told them to refund my debit, they said it was their choice which one. In the end they refunded the credit card, even tho I entered it first and was the first payment they received.

After another couple hours we finally got them to add the time on the phone. Then this month the same thing happened when buying time online. Thi time I just kept using the same card but phone didnt work. Once again checked online and my credit card was billed for 17.78 from trac phone but it did not add minutes. Due to me trying several times, the card declined all except the first transaction. I then called them and they said my card was declined, I explained to them but it didn't help. After about 3 hours and 3 phone calls, at 11:30 p.m. the representative said he seen the problem, power phone down wait 15 min and it would work. still didn't. Started calling first thing today (March 7, 2018).

They kept saying card was declined they didnt receive payment, I had already contacted my banking service and they confirmed that payment was accepted and charged to my account. I told them about the 11:30 call the night befoer but they acted like i was lying to them. In the end, they refused to provide me service and I had to file a dispute with my banking provider to get my money refunded. two months in a row they have kept my money and I had to wait to get refunded. I have told them both times something is wrong with online system chargifor a service that it is saying it can not complete. They were very rude and admitted that they seen I was refunded last month but stll refuse to give me my service I paid for.

In Dec 2017 my uncle did not receive his minutes. He is not only disabled he cannot read or write. I take care of all of his personal as well as financial things. He gave me his phone, I went online only to see that his account was cancelled. He uses this phone everyday I didn't cancel it and he certainly didn't either. I immediately called safelink and after too many automated questions I finally got a person who didn't speak very good English. I explained the situation and was told he would have to re-enroll that the computer had a glitch and cancelled his account. They would send a letter for him to sign and turn his phone back on. It is Jan 10,2017 as of yet he did not receive a letter. I called again today finally got a person who again couldn't speak good English and then she transferred me to yet another person who told me they were in South America. Again I explained everything gave them the old enrollment ID and the new one which when I go to safelinkwireless.com says it doesn't exist. She could not resend the letter she asked to fax it. I gave my home number which is connected to my printer/fax and then she told me it would take 5 business days to get the fax at which time I would have to re-send all of the enrollment qualifications which I had previously sent once again. I asked why this just couldn't be re-instated and was told they couldn't do that. She kept repeating the same stuff over and over again.

When I asked what happens if I don't get the fax in 5 days (because I'm certainly not going to trust them) I was told I would have to call again! I am so sick and tired of getting people in other countries who you can't understand and don't know what they are doing. I tried to search for a safelink corporate office hoping to find a supervisor or manager number of course that doesn't exist. So he still doesn't have a phone, I'm at the mercy of these people who's only answer is to re-enroll and send in verification. 1/22/2018 I tried calling them again today and again received someone from the Philippines when asked if I could be transferred to Miami office or speak to a supervisor I was transferred once again. I am now currently on hold for customer service again when I was told I was getting transferred to a supervisor. Razil who claims she is supervisor and now supposedly she is now transferring me to the corporate office so she says. Once again I am on hold. Feider who claims hes from the corporate office in South America.

This is pathetic. This gentleman also is hard to understand and when I ask him to repeat because I can't understand he gets frustrated. Imagine how I feel! Now he is telling me he has to call me back because his system is down and has asked for my call back number saying he will call in an hour. The current time is 2:20 pm I should receive a call by 3:20 pm I have never received such poor customer service in my life. They never called back so I called them back and I am now speaking to Daniel who answered he was from the corporate office. So this agent tells me I need to buy minutes and that this phone is active however it's been cancelled so I will have to buy minutes? Is this a scam? When I get upset he says he wants to transfer me to enrollment I said no thank you I have already done this numerous times. I then ask for a supervisor and he tells me as soon as his manager walks by he'll have him/her speak to me. He doesn't even know if his manager is male or female.

So now I am on an open line waiting for probably another agent to get off the phone so he can transfer me to that agent. I am now beyond upset this is unacceptable people have safelink because they are low income and this guy wants me to buy minutes after this company is the one that cancelled this to begin with and did not give my uncle his minutes. I am going to leave a review regarding this company as soon as I am done typing this. This business has a great scam going for people with disabilities who don't understand what is happening. Fortunate for my uncle he has me and I am no stranger to how customer service is supposed to work and I also know when I am being scammed. I have been on the line with this guy now for 30 minutes with him telling me every 30 seconds "I assure you ma'am I am just waiting for my manager to come this way. Thank you for your patience." He probably thinks I'm going to hang up but that isn't happening. How do these people get away with this?

I took a coarse for a debt relief for $10.00 and was to be issued a certificate and I clicked on the prompt to view or print certificate and it said in order to continue to recieve my certificate to call a number so I called and they asked my name and said I won or was awarded a $1.00 walmart card but for the shipping of $1.95 and what card I wanted to use I told them the card I gave them thinking it was the firm that I took the coarse with then they asked for me to give them the number again so thinking it was the same firm that I took the coarse with I gave them my number again for a $100.00 gift card a $1.95 sounds good thinking they are connected to a lawfirm it's legit". So then the lady starts asking me if I wanted some other product then I was thinking WTF! So I told her no I don't want anything else then she starts reading some script that I couldn't really understand causes I was trying to stop her and tell her I don't want nothing else I just called for my certificate cause it said to continue to view my certificate or print it to call that number and what does all this have to do with that she said she had to read this to her then shell transfer me to that department and I told her I really didn't want any of it really I just wanted my certificate And she said again she had to read this to me before we could continue so I had no choice but listen so I thought To get to my certificate and I tryied to cut her off cause I really had to go abd she asked If I wanted the gift card I told her no I really don't and I thought she voided the $1.95 but after all was said and done she gave me a number and hung up on me then I never saw a $1.95 charge on my card so I thought that was that but a couple days later there's a pending charge of $34.95 from LUV Savings for the next day that I didn't recognise cause the $1.95 I thought it was the firm I took the coarse with so after I called my bank and put a block on My card now I have to get a temporary card till I get a new one beware of this company shop and save or LUV savings fraudulent practices and are a RIPOFF $1.95 TURNED TO $34.95 WITH OUT MY AUTHORIZATION. And I really feel like I was forced into the $1.95 in order to get my certificate

One day I can use me safelink phone. The next day when I tried using it gave me a verizon message say call can not be completed.

People calling my phone would get a message saying my number isn't a working number. My verification is in good standing and I have 1198 minutes on my phone. I always make more than one call a month so there is no justifiable reason I should have gotten deactivated. This happened two weeks ago and I still don't have my phone service back.

I have spent hours on the phone with safelink/tracfone and no one can seem to figure out why my service was deactivated or how to get it back on. They first told me that there was an error on my account in their system and it would take 48 hour to remove to call back. I did that. Then the tell me they cant reactivate my phone so they would send another.

Waited on that. When it arrived I called back in and they tell me the sim card in the new phone is bad and they needed to send a new sim card. Waited on that. When it arrived I called back in and they told me that the new phone they sent would not work in my area.

Transferred me to a different person to get a different phone sent and that person said that there was an error on my account in their system and to call back in in 48 hrs. That was yesterday and that phone call was 3 hrs long. That's about the length of every call I've had to make to them . This has been going on for two weeks now and I still don't have any phone service.

I called the USAC yesterday and with my info they pulled up my status in the lifeline program and my status is in good standing and has always been in good standing. They do show a recent phone number change. I have never requested a number change. I've been very adamant thru all of this that I wanted to keep my same number.

I have this number attached to everything.

I've been with safelink for close to 7 years and I've always had the same number so I've used that number for every account for everything I've done in 7 years.I wonder what I will have to do to get my service back and how much longer it will take ?

Safelink wireless was supposed to send an application by mail ( 30 days - nothing ) filed online instead , been required to send verification letter of Medicaid ( Mainecare ) by mail and by fax also . then they needed foodstamp verification letter . so i did send Mainecare by e-mail ( denied in hours after receiving on the 22nd of August and nothing notifying me by mail as they say in recordings - does not say Medicaid - it says Medicare and Mainecare ) sent again and with foodstamps letter by e-mail , still not in system and have to resend same letters and cards ( do not have as of yet ) cannot reach anyone in verification department ( no names or contact info other than send it here and wait (until your dead in other words ) this is not any way to run a lifeline service for those whom need to make and see Drs and without a phone they cannot call you with an appointment ( they will not mail anything by usps ) also after a week i was given on the safelink website a usps tracking number that has not left or will be delivered from not being in computer system everytime i call and ask why hasn't my phone been sent out just sitting in shipping ? Each call back in your asked to resend your verifications in again and again ( until your blue in the face ) safelink is a joke the way its allowed to harass , irretate , and demand repeet info .

Last March 7th received a new phone from SafeLink and activation was on the phone. The company was suppose to give me 500 more minutes a month and now into the 15th of April and no extra balance of minutes. Their suport on the customer service line was not helpful. So, I spoke with a supervisior that suggested that I put a complaint about the SafeLink.

If you could give me some feedback on this that would be good!

They advertise FREE, unlimited minutes, unlimited text for "qualifying" individuals i got my phone and it was working fineuntil yesterday. Without being informed they deactivated it. After several calls I'm told I have to re-apply. Today I get an email from them telling me it's been deactivated and if I wish to re-activate it I have to purchase airtime (with a few extra minutes for being a "customer" This is not stated up front..they lead you to believe that your phone will remain active as long as you make at least one call per month..which I'd done with no problem.

This was deliberately deception on their part. I also have a friend who got one, it didn't work right..he'd gotten the Android (like mine) ...they sent him a replacement so they said..what he got was a flip phone, cracked and no charger and in the interim his Android was also deactivated.

I'm also reporting this to the DCA (Dept of Consumer Affairs) and also the FBI Internet Crime & Complaint Center.

SafeLink Wireless sent several text messages , on old phone, stating they were upgrading their network, advised to call in, on phone to get a new phone. Letter was sent out, advised the same on my phone going obsolete. Against my better judgement, I agreed to them sending new phone. I need one for home, keep in touch with family...for emergency.

I received new phone, called SafeLink to transfer my number. The new phone would not work! I was put through half an hour, working with the rep who kept having me enter code after code, along with turning phone off and on and trying calls. It states "Emergency Calls Only". I requested a supervisor who put me through an hour of the same processes...entering code after code . She even stated she had to do some updating o her system. I found out my old Samsung phone has been DEACTIVATED! They said they could NOT re-activate it! I have lost my home phone service, will lose my number and privilege I've had with my old phone for years.

SafeLink Wireless has scammed and deceived me with their text messages and letter sent t out. Now I have TWO NON-working phones sitting at home, not being able to even do the required monthly call SafeLink Wireless wants. Please advise me on what is to be done, if I will be given back this service. SafeLink Wireless should be investigated, shutting our phones with this deception...giving us worthless phones! I am using my tablet and hotspots, not able to upload documents at this time. Please advise what actions are to be taken. Thank you.

Joe Twombly is a person claiming to be a representative for SafeLink, a service that gives free cell phones to people with government assistance (medicaid, etc). Summer 2015, I responded to an ad he posted offering a job going to door to door getting people to sign up for these cell phones. The position was described as an independent contractor deal where I was to receive $10 for each verified sign-up. He said we'd walk around for a few weeks together so I could get the hang of using the tablet he gave me, and that I was free to sign people up at any time on my own as well.

First day of work, I meet 2 other people he's hired. He walks around with the one guy, I walk around with the girl. We each get quite a few people to sign up and their verifications go through quickly. We were also allowed to sign up ourselves if we had the right assistance proofs, and since we both did, we both signed up. I got my phone a few days later from SafeLink, so I figured all of this seemed pretty legit. We continued to walk around over the next couple days, and signed up quite a lot of people.

At the end of the week, I asked when we were getting paid. I was told 2 weeks after the first day that I'd created my account, so that meant 7 days from then. I was also told we'd be paid with reloadable debit cards--- that might seem weird but actually every industrial temp agency I've worked for does this, so I figured it was fine. Payday came and I was told some dumb, weird excuse saying that corporate hadn't sent him the cards yet, this was his first time coordinating a crew in this city, etc. He gave me 30$ in cash. I called "corporate", or at least, the number listed on the site, and a very rude woman told me that any issues with payment had to be taken up with the coordinator of our group. I told her that didn't make any sense and she hung up on me.

Already I was pissed about not being paid when I should've been, but I had loads of verified accounts and more coming through every day, I had nothing better to do and the job was easy (also, I was incredibly broke.) Signed up more people throughout the week. At this point, for the rate of $10 per sign up, he owed me at least $300. Friday came and again I was told some bullshit about the cards, so I said I wouldn't get out of his car or return the tablet until I was paid. He again offered me cash and whined about how this was his new business getting started up and he had costs and bills too, I said I didn't care because I was told I'd be paid for my work and expected to be. He gave me "all the cash he had"--- a little over $100, but not nearly all of what I was SUPPOSED to be paid.

The next day, he calls me early in the morning and asks if I'm coming to work. I said I'd work on my own when I felt like it, he gave me some sleazy salesperson pep talk, and I told him I'd be more enthusiastic once I got my actual check-- IF I got it. Again, called the "corporate" number, tried to find any real phone number that actually went to whatever agency deals with SafeLink/government phones, couldn't find a d**n thing.

He eventually went on to pay me another $80 or so in cash, but none of this added up to the amount I was actually supposed to get.

I'm not sure what the hell kind of scam this is, because it didn't seem like he was actually making any money either. The phones were actually real--- they did come with the free minutes, etc just like advertised. At first I thought "he's just stealing my sign-ups and claiming them as his own", but later I thought otherwise. I was never charged anything ,and we didn't take any information from people that could be used to steal from them (aside from their first names). In any case it was all very shady and I think he was somehow doing government-related fraud but just wasn't very good at it. Everyone I knew personally that signed up for a phone received their phone and some continue to use them even now with no problems. However all of this was shady as hell, a huge waste of my time and effort, and I never got paid the full amount I was owed. WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY.

2016-04-20 I am so sick and frustrated I could just sit on the floor and eithier scream or cry! i DO NOT SERIOUSLY KNOW HOW MUCH MORE i CAN DEAL! Years ago I prchased a trackphone without a contract and it was just fine.....The I was Diagnosed with a Terminal ilness and everything changed. I had a good job as a nurse, life was good..... then i found out when u enter into an agreement with the government, companies feel they can do whatever u want!

I once again needed to change a phone into a safelink a while back with another diagnosis/out of remission. The government provides these services for those of us who may not be able to have a phone at all, to communicate with Doctors, friends, family ect. But the minute I changed to safelink or keep trying to (They shut my phone off, took my minutes om and off and on and off) Since March 2013. It is such a simple thing and request that customer service who work there, should be trained. Well let me tell ya, They need to stop outsourcing then, because those representatives working tbhere know just do not get it....So many hours of my time and so many assurances all will be fixed just hallow words or an ignorant employee...ethier way I deserve better! I have paid for service for months/years and know that I need help they downright lie just to get u off the phone! I know what I am talking about, believe me. THese people at thiscompany are lazy, donot knowwhat they are doing and frankly do not care while they collect taxpayer grants or funding...it is dispicabletaking advantage of a disabled person. All I record here is true, so help me god. Since march they shut of my safelink phone,(they reported they did'nt know why???,depending who u talk to????)Took my number I had for years and after going back and forth they shut it off again after I put on 3,000 minutes...Fishey??? I am still trying to get my service back on, but i seriously do not know how much more of this my body can take.

Thanks trackphone for putting on a front u r doing good when ju have such untrained staff that it is a crapshoot evertime u call what gets done or what lieswill be told..Maybe they are just guessing wha they need todo??? I will be finding another service, but I WILL GET MY MINUTES BACK! shame on all of u guys!!!!!HAVE A COMPANY WIDE TRAINING PROGRAM OR SOMETHING INSTEAD OF MAKING THOSE OF US ARE ALREADY SICK TO SUFFER!!!!!

My situation started when I was told that I was to receive a lifeline phone. Within a few weeks I did receive one and opted for the international plan, which I quickly discovered was not right for me. I then changed to the 125 min per month where the minutes also accumulate.

Safelink Wireless is a cellular phone company claiming to serve customers who are eligible for Lifeline service. I applied, I was approved, and my phone was sent to me. I received my phone. According to Safelink, you can upgrade to a better phone as long as it is a tracfone and as long it is not a smart phone. My fingers are so clumsy I am unable to text easily on the basic phones. I need a basic phone with a qwerty keypad. I am not picky--I don't have to have a smartphone to be happy just a basic phone with a qwerty keypad. I found one at kmart and paid for it. Please note that when I got the tracfone, my safelink phone had not yet arrived. I wanted to do changes the minute that my safelink phone arrived so I purcahsed my tracfone while I was waiting for my safelink phone to come in. When my safelink phone came in, I was all ready to go with the tracfone I wanted to upgrade to.

Well, I tried to get them to upgrade me and port my existing number over to safelink at the same time. What a mess. I had to first put my tracfone on my safelink service, they said. Ok. I understand. My upgraded tracfone needed to be attached to my account. But intstead of putting my upgraded tracfone on my account, they sent me a new phone! Huh??? So when I got that I called them back and told them all over again what I was trying to do. After about six tries, I finally talked to someone that got the phone I actually wanted on to my account. Then I tried to port my phone number over. So, they sent me a new sim card with my ported phone nubmer. When I got the sim, I called them to activate the sim and put it in my phone. But, in the process they took my minutes away and when I told them they took my minutes they said no we didn't take your minutes. you used them up. Huh?? I had only used 30 minutes, plus I was supposed to have new minutes for the new month we had just come in to.

They were confusing me so bad that I finally started porting my number out to a different cell phone company. Even their porting process was horrible. They did not tell me what my actual account number was until I forced it out of them and then they are breaking FCC law by not giving customers a pin number for their accounts.

Customer service is horrible. You don't ever talk to the same person twice. They don't want play by the rules or make life easy for you. They actually acted like they were glad that I was porting away. Oh, and, they placed a black mark against my name in USAC database, saying that I had NLAD issues. They refused to tell me what those NLAD issues were about. I assume that it is because I did not return my USAC worksheet, but in my defense, why should I return a worksheet to them when I was ending my service with them anyway?

I cannot actually afford the carrier I now have, but because my new carrier fought tooth and toenail for me to get my phone number away from Safelink port it over to my new carrier, I am going to stay with them a few months. I am paying $15 a month that I cannot really afford because Safelink screwed me over. I am hoping that they didn't make it impossible for me to try a different lifeline company in the future. According to the USAC I am able to go to any other lifeline company I choose. I hope that is the case.

At the very least, I would like Safelink to pay for my phone bill until I am able to find a lifeline carrier with better customer service. And advice to folks out there--run away from Safelink. They are run by Tracfone, and I think that is where all of their problems are!
