I admit I was at fault and required to get the device. I have had this one for 16 months now and never filed a complaint. This week I left for work and gave the required initial breath sample with success. During my commute I was required to blow again and success. I went to work at my medical office and on my lunch break I tried to start my car. Initial test failed...9 seconds later I blew again and also failed...9 seconds later I blew for a 3rd time and successfully passed. I know that every fail costs $25 and I felt like I was just racking up violation fees and could do nothing about it. I immediately called safe harbor and spoke to a representative who was both rude and unhelpful. I had no gum in my mouth, nothing to drink not even water, and was not smoking. There is absolutely no reason that within 30 seconds total that I could possibly fail twice and then pass other than a faulty handset. I went to my scheduled monthly maintenance appt and paid my $70 monthly payment. They took my money and applied it to the violation charges without my authorization. I have less than 2 months left required for the device and that is the way they are getting more money from people. It is a form of robbery and they should be held accountable.
What a scam! Donot do business with Safe Harbor for an interlock device. Once installed it did not register. I tried several times to no avail. And, J&R Automotive of Phoenix was all to eager to uninstall and charge me $200.00!!! It took 15 minutes to install and 10 to uninstall.....25 minutes later............$200.00.
I had NO problem having Sxxxx Ixxxx of Phx install a different type and installation was only $55.00!
