Roy Swakzak is a local tile and flooring guy here in South Florida. He claims to have more than a decade (perhaps 2) of experience, and he might.
I hired him to do a tile job. A job quoted at 2 to 3 days. It took 3 weeks. I sympathized with him as he admited to hitting a series of unfortunate events in his professional and personal life. Issues at home, his truck in the shop and with his work helpers being losers. OK, things happen. I guess it really slowed him down and I was ok with that. I run 4 companies and I would have told my clients that I was unable to offer services at the moment rather than risk offering poor service experience. Its only a quarter of why I decided to write this.
I can't lay tile myself, but I've been on jobs and have seen it done a dozen times. It isn't hard to do it just short of perfect. You do one tile at a time, level it and then do the next.
The tile job itself is about a 7/10. It was a hard job, but again not impossible to do it right. There are some things that should have been fixed before laying the next one.
It wasn't until I got a call from my downstairs neighbor that a bucket full of tile peices were covering her porch. Sure enough, it looks like he was emptying the water try over the d**n balcony. The second thing that pissed me off was the disgusting way he left the site each day. Trash, water, broken peices of tile everywhere.
He was a relativly nice guy who did a decent job. I just demand perfection and he wasnt close. If you are looking for someone to do a job, he will do it, but don't expect to be blown away.
This guy is a criminal and he stole my money. Google his Name Roy Swarzak mugshots and see his rap sheet. He preys on people. What a piece of shit person.
