I purchased an extended warranty policy through my credit union, when I purchased my vehicle. I had attempted to use the warranty insurance once, shortly after purchasing the vehicle and the dealership would not accept it. So, I thought I would try to use it at another place in the future, should anything happen.

Several months later, I attempted to use the insurance again and the repair company would not accept it their either. I had went to several other places and called other places to see if I could use it to have them make the repair and all of the shops would not accept it.

I decided to go ahead and cancel the plan, as it was useless to me. Instead of obtaining a full refund, I received a partial refund, prorated for the time I had it. I explained to Route 66 that the policy was uselss and had always been useless and asked why they were only providing a partial refund since it took awhile to find out it was completely uselsss. It's almost like they hope you never find out it is useless, but once you do find out, they want to prorate it. I explained to them that what they were doing was bad business practice, but they advised I would have to write a letter to the board. At this time, I am writing a letter to the board and I will update this post to keep you informed.

I do not like the fact I am being financially punished for only now finding out that I could have never used the policy. I highly recommend you stear clear of any third party warranties or insurance gimmicks. I found this company's policy to be absolutely, 100% a waste of money.

Route 66 Extended Warranty refused to pay me for the claim I filed for my 2011 Subaru Outback. They also refused to refund my premium, even though I filed the request within the specified time frame. I called their customer service department twice, and all the POS's working there did was hang up on me when I compained. Avoid these criminals like the plague, unless you like to screwed out of money!

Route 66 Extended Warranty Looking at online reviews, the most common reason for not covering is: “SORRY, ITS NOT ON THE LIST”! Even for their most expensive top of the line coverage the Deluxe Coverage “SORRY, ITS NOT ON THE LIST”. The internal component of the engine drive shaft, “SORRY, ITS NOT ON THE LIST”. Please do not buy this coverage you will be disappointed. I have called the credit unions where I bought this coverage $2700.00. They are telling me they have many complaints…. Route 66 is a scam. SORRY, ITS NOT ON THE LIST” for everything including internal engin parts. United States

I had a clicking noise in my 2013 Tahoe. I took it into the garage and they told me it was the Active Fuel Managers Lifts that were slicking. They said it was not severe enough to cover, so they declined to cover the repair. I asked them when they are considered faulty enough - and Brandon's response was when the part has failed. So, I guess my wife and kids need to be stranded someplace (once the part fails) in order for it to be covered. I also asked if the problem would go away.....to which his response was no. So why not fix what needs to be fixed then. Pehaps they are waiting for my mileage to disqualify me from coverage....BEWARE!

I don't know how many times I've heard these weasels claim that for two of my vehicles.

I'll detail two instances here, however:

2013 Cadillac ATS with damaged front intake / control dampers. Driving down the highway, a stray piece of debris from some truck in front of me hit my car. It wasn't long after this, my front intake damper got locked open. Normally this closes and opens for aerodynamics and to increase air flow when operating at extreme temperatures. I took it to a Cadillac shop and attempted to get Route 66 to pay for it. Keep in mind I have the highest level of coverage (as they put it, equal to factory).

Route 66 decided to label the front intake system a "cosmetic part" because the front grille is attached to the assembly and thus the entire system is all one "part". You replace the entire unit when damaged.

Additionally, I was informed by the Cadillac dealership that if the car had still been under factory warranty, it would have been covered no question. Yet, Route 66 chose to label the entire unit "cosmetic".

2013 Volvo XC90 with stuck shifter. This vehicle would frequently not allow the driver to shift to park or shift out of park. It took quite a bit of wire wiggling and trial and error to do it. Sometimes it would take 10 mins just to park the vehicle. Again, I have the highest level of coverage on this vehicle as well.

Guess what Route 66 labeled the shifter? "Cosmetic" part.

Luckily through some hastling, we were able to convince them of their ignorance that that it in fact, was a crucial part to the operation of the vehicle. They did agree to pay it, but refused to pay the diagnostic fee from the dealership which was required in order to identify the faulty components.

Would the dealership have charged me a diagnostic fee for this had it still been under 50k miles? No.

This whole advertising their warranties as just as good as factory is a HUGE RIP OFF.

This company has deceitful practices. First, I procured this warranty for a 2009 Mercedes S-Class. When my check engine light came on, I contacted Route 66 to (A) notify them of the engine light, and (B) to get a list of facilities that would accept this warranty. The list of facilities provided by Route 66 all stated they would not attempt to diagnose a Mercedes S-Class and my only option was to contact a Mercedes dealership, in which I did. To make a long story short, and a short story even shorter, Route 66 would not cover any of the problems I had though the warranty indicates some of my issues are covered. I paid over $2,000 to have an oil leak, camshaft, and transmission mount repaired and Route 66 didn't cover any of it. To make matters even worse, I just learned through Route 66 that they will only cover up to $3,000 in repairs on my vehicle and this information is not listed anywhere within my agreement (failure to disclose limits). It just states X,Y,Z is covered and there is no deductible. I have begun looking into getting a new warranty with a different company, and I've learned through this experience to ask if there is a cap on repairs and to get a list of facilities that accept the warranty.

Bought the High end Warranty to cover new to me vehicle. After two months and a cross country trip the engine light started to flash. Took it to Nissian dealership and the motor is ruined and needs replaced. fluids were all good but cylinder 6 has no compression. Route 66 advisor Brandon denys claim because it was an exsisting problem?? He tried to put words in my mouth and said it was a preexsisting problem. FK U. it ran fine for us and the dealership who sold it...Now they just dont want to pay. Lousy. The service manager said this is typical of Route 66 and they hate to deal with them as they are so slimmy. I now have an attorney and a rental car who IS excited to go after them...Thats the only piece of mind. I HATE THIS FRAUD LIKE COMPANIES!

I attempted to purchase a new plan, the credit union agent for Route 66 confirmed coverage, stating that I was “locked in” and that the company actually issued a Service Agreement. Shortly thereafter, I was advised that the Service Agreement was cancelled, without any prior notice and after my payment for the entire premium had been paid and accepted. The premium was eventually refunded and I was not reimbursed for lost interest that would have accrued on that amount. Although I was able to purchase another plan through a competitor, that coverage did not become effective immediately. I asked the credit union agent and Route 66 for an extension on the original plan for a prorated premium and both ignored the request. Fortunately for me, the new plan is now effective. Here is my caution message to you. First, beware that you could have your coverage revoked without notice, even though the selling agent promised coverage and you had paid the premium in full. It is noteworthy that had I sustained an otherwise covered loss before my new plan took effect, I would have sued the company in Virginia General District Court for recovery and I believe that I would have prevailed. Further and very significantly, Route 66 sets a liability limit for what they determine to be the value of the automobile which is the subject of the plan. This is especially significant for those desiring to cover an older vehicle, regardless of its condition. In my case, their estimate of value is an unmitigated joke. This means that despite the mechanical condition of the car, which in my case was never in dispute, Route 66 can, when considering a claim; declare the car to be a “total loss”, limiting “coverage” to the amount of premium paid. In my opinion, for some, that is effectively no coverage at all. The plan I eventually purchased sets an actual liability limit that is not affected by the value of the car, unless the car’s value exceeds the stated liability limit – very positive. In my prior message, I reported that I asked the Office of Attorney General to investigate the practices of this company to see how pervasive this practice is in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as there have been other social media complaints. WORD TO THE WISE - BE VERY CAREFUL.

We purchased a 2010 Escalade with 120149 miles in June of 2016 and purchased the Route 66 warranty through the credit union. We were charged $1670.85 in our financing for the "First Street Warranty" for the coverage and told it was because of the mileage and that because it was newer than our cruiser with less miles. We had purchashed a Route 66 warranty a year earlier on a 2007 PT Cruiser with I believe 115.000 miles and it got the "Main Street Coverage". We ended up needing to use the warranty right after Thanksgiving and the work ended up costing around $7000 I believe the warranty would only cover $3000.00 which we knew, but we were under the impression that was PER occurance and were informed no that was LIFETIME on the warranty. Why would a warranty not say that on the broucher? Considering you are paying basically $1700 for the coverage and if you finance even more than $1700 why would you only pay to basically POSSIBLY get less than $1300 in coverage more than you paid?? This was a TOTAL rip off.

Yes we got our $1670 back, but we would have purchased the warranty through the dealership rather than the credit union had we known the poor coverage we were going to be recieving which it is now to late to do. The dealer warranty would have covered REAL issues and NOT had a $3000 LIFETIME LIMIT which is a JOKE. ROUTE 66 YOU ARE A RIP OFF. If you are going to have a lifetime limit it should be in BOLD letters on the brouchure and your employees should be letting your credit union reps know this information as well as the credit union had NO idea when we went back and talked to her. VERY POOR WAY to do business

On august 5, 2016 i purchased a 2011 volkswagen tiguan from capital eurocars in tallahassee, florida..they had inspected the car before i purchased it..they are a very reputable dealership..when i took the car back on august 17 with a coolant leak they also discovered an oil leak..at first route 66 refused to cover any of the work saying it was preexisting conditions using the excuse that i had called asking about their coverage on the day the car was purchased..the handout was confusing so i did call for some clarification and got hung up on..i called them after the service guy told me this and got them to cover the water pump but not fully..they steadfastly refused to acknowledge the oil leak..there is nothing in the policy..what there is of it..about any waiting time period for coverage..their claim is that the oil leak could not have occurred withing the two weeks i had had the car..

This is also a complaint about florida state university credit union which will have a separate entry..when i tried to take my problem to stacie beddard at florida state university credit union in crawfordville she was hostile and took the immediate hostile attitude that it was a preexisting condition..she refused to hear anything i had to say and told me to leave..to date this issue is still not resolved.

I highly recommend to stay away from this horrible company! I paid a couple thousand dollars thinking it would be worth it but it wasn't. This company will lie to you and change their words every phone call. They need to get their s**t together. Also, they won't cover for a rental. I got the cheapest one in my area and they made up and excuse saying "Avis car rental is not one we will cover for". This company is corrupt.

Route 66 is a SCAM!!! They use used parts instead of new factory parts to fix your car. They only cover up to a certain dollar amount and anything more you will have to pay out of pocket.

They used a used transfer case to fix my car and then 14 months later they part went out again and messed up something else. There negligence from the beginning in getting cheap parts caused this second problem and they want to deduct it again from the amount that is allowed in my coverage!! And noone there is trying to help!

I purchased a route 66 extended warranty through my Credit Union for a 2007 vehicle that we purchsed for my daughter. The vehicle was in great condition and only had 91,000 on it when purchased. We were diligent about changing oil and keeping fluids topped off. One day my daughter went to leave for work and put the car in drive - the engine revved and then lurched forward. She knew something was wrong so she put it in reverse to get back into her parking space. Again the engine revved and lurched forward (while in reverse). My daughter then put the car in neutral, pushed it back into its parking space (she's 5'2 120lbs pushing a full sized vehicle by herself mind you) and called me. I knew it was a transmission problem so I immediately called a tow truck to pick it up. The mechanic stated that the transmission cooler got a crack in it and dumped all the fluid and that the transmission needed to be completely rebuilt because of this. The vehicle never overheated, and was never driven after it started acting up. Route 66 REFUSED to pay anything because it was caused by "lack of proper fluids". First off, this particular transmission does not have a dip stick for the owner to be able to test fluid levels on the transmission, secondly the vehicle never showed signs of transmission trouble or overheating. How is a 19yr old girl supposed to know that her transmission fluid is low when there are no signs? The mechanic tried to get Route 66 to send out an adjuster to see how this happened and they flat out refused to cooperate. I am now pursuing having my Credit Union cease all business with this shady outfit. I have found nothing but negative feedback on the company since purchasing this warranty. I hope nobody else falls victim to their terrible service.

I recently purchased a 2006 Mini Cooper from a private party and financed the vehicle through a Credit Union and purchased the Extended Warranty through Route 66 Warranty. I use this car only for leisure and not for commute because I have other car for commute. About four weeks after driving I discovered transmission issue on the vehicle. I sent the car to a transmission shop and discovered that the transmission needs some work. Route 66 warranty denied the claim saying that it is a long term condition. I said if I would have gotten in a car accident the day after I bought the car, my car insurance would have to cover no matter what. Why would this stupid company say that it is a long term condition because I do not have any knowledge of it whatsover. At this time, I cancelled the agreement and demand my money back right away. Route 66 had the nerve to say that the policy states they can take up to 30 days to refund my money. Well, I intend to call them everyday until my refund is processed.

When I refinaced my Truck my banks offered Route 66 extended warranty coverage. The $1,200 I paid for a 4 year term seemed reasonable and better priced than most. I also figured sonce my bank recomended them perhaps it was a great thing to have. The day I needed the coverage they did everything under the sun to get out of paying any amout to the Mechanic. I drive a Tundra and the truck was towed to the dealer here in town. I called the 24hr road side service and was told it was after hours and I would need to call back at a different time. I had the vehicle towed paying out $75. The dealer then called Route 66 to confirm coverage on 4 other items that needed fixed. They were going to cover $35 dollars of the $756.00 bill. The Bumper to bumber warranty only covers the drive train.

Also there is a " List", that I never saw, that has several items exemot from coverage. I called my bank and they were furious. My bank called Route 66 and received the same run around I did. Needless to say my bank is no longer going to offer Route 66 as an option for their warranty package. The regonal manger did call me to try and better explain the policy. I informed him the airbag syatem and horn are both part of the safety syatem and should be covered under any warranty. He then explained to me the horn is part of the " Sound System and since the airbags are in the column with the horn they are not covered either.....I have never heard sucj BS! I summed the policy and his lines of Bull up at the end....letting him know they are there to make money, not help the consumer. I then hung up the phone.

My trucks in the shop and needs a $2400 intake and exhaust valves job, which is supposed to be cover in my extended warranty with Route 66. Route 66 Extended warranty DENIED my claim There reason is they, don't fix valves seats, just an excuse to try and get out of the contract. every valves job need the valves seats re-done, it's not even a part and only cost $200 of the $2400

This company is a completely fraudulent scam. I purchased this warranty for almost $2,000. Within the first six months, this company has refused to pay for two repairs that are covered. I had a full vehicle inspection, by the dealer, before I purchased my used car, and they found the car to be in perfect working order with no issues. I also take impeccable care of my vehicle. A few months after I purchased by car, I was informed that seal in the engine block had failed and needed to be replaced. Route 66 made me jump through hoops for two months to "verify" that the seal had indeed failed (even though it was independently documented by a repair shop and the dealer). In the end, they said that my car was not "consuming" enough oil for them to cover the repair. This had nothing to do with oil "cosumption". It had to do with a failed engine block seal. I had to go to extensive measures, until finally the CEO of the warranty company agreed to cover the repair.

Four months after my first problem with the warranty company, I am now having trouble with them again. My cars air intake valves and air pump are clogged and need to be replaced. The car can not get any air into the engine, and is therefore inoperable. The warranty company said that they don't cover exhaust or emmissions. They said modern day air intake valves are designed to provide the exact amount of air to enter the engine to maximize performance. They said that since in maximizes performance, it minimizes emissions. Therefore, it is not cover.

The legal definition of emissions is "the production and discharge of something, especially gas or radiation." Emissions happen after a reaction (in this case, combustion). I spoke with a close engineering friend who deals specifically with emissions. They also stated that emissions occur after a reaction, and that air coming into a reaction has absolutetly nothing to do with emissions or exhaust that occur after combustion. Therefore, this should be covered. However, Route 66 doesn't agree with the legal definitions of exhaust or emissions. So they won't cover the repair.

Do yourself a favor; avoid this warranty company at all costs. They are a complete scam.

I bought a useless $1400 warranty and in 4 years they paid out less than $300, total scam artists. sadly this was sold to me by a trusted credit union, Southeast Financial in Nashville TN. NOw I cannot afford to fix my car, they wont cover it even though states its covered but "their" wording is different as it is on all the items. Never trust them or give them n=money, they are criminals.
