Rothman Institute Reviews
I had an injury and went to receive medical treament on April 9,2017. I was in extreme pain and discomfort. I was seen by the physicians assistant and advised that that the inury was a severe sprain. I was advised that I would need a pneumatic fracture boot and to follow up with an orthopedic doctor in 5 days. They stated they would have someone call me within 48 hours to make an appointment. I was advised I would also need crutches which insurance didn't cover and that I was to pay 35.00 out of pocket.
I received a bill amongst all the charges the most outstanding amount was $400.00 for the pnuematic fracture boot. The insurance was billed and paid $128.68 the remainder was billed to me $271.32. My complaint is that at no time was I made aware that I would have to pay an unfare market price for a product that is less than $80.00 at a medical supply company.
I spoke to the biller who stated that the $400.00 is the contracted price that they can bill insurance. Obviously the insurance company only paid $ 128.68. So they allow them to mark up a product nearly 75% over cost yet they don't pay it? I was also told that I signed agreeing to pay for any supplies. I would agree to pay anything that was fair only $400.00 is unreasonable rate and unfare market price and price gouging.
I tried to find out the contracted rate and also what they would be willing to adjust the amount owed which is the balance of $271.32. I also asked what the rate was for people who have no insurance and they would not disclose the amount to me. I shouldn't be penalized for having insurance and charged more without the right to appeal the amount and ask for a fair price.
