Ron Dixon Motors, Inc. Reviews

  • Dec 22, 2016

Ron Dixon Motors is a fraudulent business claiming to do business in Flagstaff Arizona. They have two web sites (www.rondixonmotors.com and www.reverrocks.com). Both sites lead to the same web site.

They advertise several late model used cars at fairly high prices and always have one desirable vintage car priced under market. That is the hook.

They advertise on their web site and all over Craig's List using local phone numbers.

They typically feature vintage air cooled Porsches but often have other cars up.

Many (if not all) of their cars are stolen off of Motoexotica's web site. Moto Exoica is a legitimate business and to the best of my knowledge, not involved with this scam in any way.

Ron Dixon Motors has managed to produce a legitimate looking dealers license and have titles to the cars they allegedly own.

The titles and dealer license are fakes.

In the case of a porsche I am going to show evidence on here, they even procured a certificate of authenticity for the car.

The scam works like this:

1) Buyer finds the car on craigslist and calls. They never answer the phone but call back promptly. They are given a link to the Ron Dixon web site where the car is featured. In the case of a 1968 Porsche, the car was priced at $28,000 when retail is closer to $40,000.

2) Seller is very helpful and able to provide incredible details about the car. They provide copies of the title front and back and their dealer license. All show the dealer address as 5700 East Commerce Avenue. There IS no East Commerce Ave in Flagstaff.

Between these two things, it is a very convincing sell. In the case of the '68 Porsche, when asked, they provided a detailed video of the car including undercarriage and a full walk-around and drive of the car.

3) Buyer is convinced and in the case of the Porsche, looked into flying into Flagstaff to see it. Nearest conveniant airport is Scottsdale/PHX nearly three hours away. In the end, the buyer decide to buy the car based on the paperwork and pictures and details. The seller offered to arrange shipping (enclosed) and the buyer accepted.

4) Money wired and buyers guy received a call from the shipper reporting they would be there in two days. The delivery date arrived and the buyer was called again by the shipper saying he was delayed. All communication ceased then. Money was wired through a Regions Bank account.

5) On the web site, the car was markd as 'sold' and remained visible. Once the shipper reported the delay, the car was removed from the site. The dealer called the buyer and reported the car stolen by the shipper. I believe this is a ticket to an insurance claim making the scam a 'perfect crime'.

6) When the shipper disappeared, the buyer notified his bank and called the Flagstaff Police who reported the fake web site and fake address. They also reported countless others defrauded as well.

7) Buyer notified Regions of fraud and upon bank receiving a release of claims, Regions refunded his money. Apprently Regions is the bank of choice for this fraudster and was (is) concerned about litigation.

I am attaching a picture of the car, the dealer license, the front of the title, and the buyer order (with buyer name redacted). My hope is that future potential buyers will at least google search Ron Dixon and this report will show.

Another Porsche 911 was posted immediately, and currently a Studebaker is posted. Both the 1968 Porsche and the Studebaker were cars offered legitimately by moto Exotica.
