Some time ago, I purchased RoboForm Pro with a LIFETIME membership. A few years later, the company said their company was trying to do more online functions and could no longer honor a lifetime membership. I asked them if they understood what LIFETIME meant?
They didn't even offer me a refund or anything. They just said, Sorry. How dare a company, in this day and age, get away with ripping off their customers. I HIGHLY recommend you stay away from this company as there are MUCH better password managers out there anyway.
They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. There is no human to talk to. You are at the mercy of e-mails if you can find the e-mail form to make a complaint to begin with. I have requested a call back twice. Nothing. I went on their site chat where they just referred my to yet another link. Impossible. My mother uses this company to pay her bills. She is 88 and has been in the hospital/rehab for the past 7 weeks. She does not have access to her computer. She lives in Florida. I live in New Jersey. I paid her bills when I spent a month in Miami. I am now trying to access her account and it just doesn't work. Yesterday it said her trial period ended. She is not on a trial. I need to pay her rent and her other bills before she gets evicted and her services get turned off. I just hate this company. So frustrated.
I was an early adaptor for this company, having purchased a "lifetime license" in 2011. When they came out with version 7, they called it something different and told me that my lifetime license would only work for version 6, which was being discontinued. Well, the product continued in the form of version 7 and their subscription model.
They could have had just A SMALL BIT OF INTEGRITY and kept their promise to "lifetime" customers, but they gave into greed over honesty. And you'd really hope that this kind of company would be honest... expecially if you're going to trust them with your passwords.
To be completely transparent here, I'm still using their product because I liked it. But even after all these years I'm still pissed at the way they treated me - so I'm happily writing a complaint.
I submitted a support ticket to Roboform on 3/24/11 in which I stated:
"I own two version 6 Roboform licenses that clearly came with free lifetime upgrades. I cannot upgrade to the latest Firefox 4 browser because my Roboform version won't attach to it. I would need to pay for the upgrade to Roboform 7. As everyone knows, browser upgrades are necessary for Internet security. So in effect, my online security is being risked, and being held hostage by the forced Roboform upgrade."
"No explanation that I've seen given by RoboForm or by SiberSystems circumvents the fact that there has been a serious breach of the contracts made with owners of previous version licenses. It is neither ethical or honest to go back and change the terms of a license agreement. At the very least, those owners of previous version licenses (including those purchased before 9/1/10) should be 'grandfathered in', and not be charged for any future upgrades."
"There are those who would like to see a class action lawsuit filed against Roboform. My remedy, if Roboform won't reinstate the free lifetime upgrade policy, will be to ditch Roboform, and instead use LastPass. And I will be sure to voice my opinion of this matter at various influential online venues."
RoboForm.com arrogantly steals personal data and stores it online.
DO NOT UPGRADE or use RoboForm in anyway.
Jan 11, 2018 2:24 PM: upgraded to RoboForm v8. - A BIG Mistake!! Data was copied to their servers via the upgrade with NO option to stop synchronization as they force you to register for an account. No other option for upgrade. I own 4+ licenses since the first versions.
1/28/2018: Called and spoke to RoboForm.com concerning the theft. Said that it would not sync.
1/28/2018: Files were deleted from the account. It took over 8 minutes to delete it from their server. A task that should be done in less than 5 seconds.
Data is still on the server after deleting everything. 2kb of unknown not visible logon accounts? VERSION 7 is now automatically enabling synchronization to their servers. ITS IS SAD TO SEE A COMPANY COMMIT SUICIDE.
This company is now blatantly stealing personal data from you if you use thier software.
LAWYERS this is a field day class action lawsuit. Run with it and crush them. I will back everything and have all the info you need.
