Tax board never will see your way and the right way as a tax paper, I am, and people like me are getting taxed out of their homes.
also wants home owners to let them know in advance if you're going to be sick on the day of appeals..."how would you know something like that? So they deny you.....even though this is legally wrong.
My 90 yr old mother who is experiencing cognitive decline was unaware that her mentally ill son (who has been taking ALL her SS benefits out of her bank account for the past 8 months) had gone in and put a Stop Order on her bills including her property tax bill that was due on Dec 10th. I found out about iabout the order on the 11th and told her that he stopped the payment and she needed to get it paid or the home will go into foreclosure because of the reverse mortgage.
I took her down to the bank on the 11th and he had already spend part of the $ that was to pay the taxes. She withdrew what funds were left and I gave her the rest to cover it and we went and paid cash.
A few days ago she got in the mail a letter from the tax collector demanding $76.88 fine for the stop order for Dec. 10's payment and wanted that PLUS the 1st tax installment that was due on Dec 10th.. I emailed the tax collectors office and no one replied today I called and told them the receipt says the payment we made in cash covered 12/10. They said on their computer it says we paid for 4/10/2019. And are liable for the fine. They said that it is due on 2/1 or other penalties will be added. And that the payment we made in cash will be moved to show we paid 12/10's installment.
I told him that the stop order was made without my mom's knowledge because her account is compromised. Didn't matter. He said it can be appealed but the fine still has to be paid. OR show it was the banks error. Well the bank was doing what they thought my mother was requesting they didn't know that they weren't dealing with her because he does everything over the internet thinking he will not get caught.
So because of her cognitive decline, her account had been compromised for months now, bills not being paid, her home is at risk of foreclosure, and her mentally ill son is taking every dime, she is going to loose her home because of her idiot son and the bank allowing his illegal transactions when he does NOT have permission to have anything to do with her $, then unsympathetic pathetic tax collector rearranging things to fine an elderly person $76.88 because that's how Riverside rolls!
