My brother, Jay, was married for four (4) years to Debbra Fromdahl. My father, John, purchased a house for them to live in. My Dad has done this for all of his children at one time or another. Each one of us pays him rent every month based on what we can afford. My Dad'd properties are all in his name and listed as Trust.
Debbra files for divorce from my brother and sues my Dad for HIS house. This Judge ordered my brother out and her to stay and make the rental payment to my Dad until it is decided who the house will be awarded to. A lein has been placed on the house by this Judge so my Dad can't do anything with it. The topper is my Dad is ordered to pay ALL her attorney fees.
How crazy is this? My Dad says he's gong to write a book on how to get a house for FREE.
Where is the justice here? My Dad has worked hard for many years to be able to help all his 5 children out when they needed it and now, his savings is slowly dwindling because of attorney fees.
I was married for six years and when I divorced, I remained in the Condo that was in my Dad's name and my ex never tried to claim ownership. Same scenario with my sister. What am I missing here......... if you own property in your name it can be taken away from you because the judge just happens to like short skirts?
My family and I really need help here. My Dad also has Lymphoma, he is extremely healthy and it is the slow progressing type, but he doesn't need this huge burden. I don't know where else to turn.
