October 31, 2016, A lady friend of mine along with myself visited this store to return an unopened product my friend bought on an earlier date. She was simply returning it because it was the wrong color. Upon entering the store we were greeted by the guard, while my friend was returning her product for an exact exchange (no refund). I was greeted by another employee. She escorted me to some products I was interested in. They didn't have the brand I wanted soI decided to wait for my friend in the car. I walked out past the guard with no problem. She was rudely met by workers and management denying the return and told my friend she was stuck with the product... Unhappy, my friend put the product ($20 in value) back into the bag. A few words were exchanged between the counter people my friend.. Nothing superficial or profane. initially I didn't think anything of it. I walked out the store first to retrieve my car while she was pleading to the management, Anticipating my friend to be close behind me, she was stopped by the guard claiming she stole the product she just came in to return.
Even though he watched her return it... While he was texting and sitting. (Every time the guards are sitting) The theft alarm did not beep coming in but it beeped going out. The guard snatched the bag from my friend and held the product over her head like a child. My friend repeatedly screamed for her product but the guard (who was armed) continued to taunt her. He repeatedly kept saying to her "What you gonna do about it?". Seeing my friend, I pull my car up front to try and extract her from the store because the guard looked like he was going to hit her and he kept favoring his hand over his weapon. I walked up to them both and tried to explain the situation to the guard he felt intimidated and now focused on me saying the same thing but more profane with the f word.. Only this time he unstrapped his holster and grabbed his weapon slightly pulling it out. We all stood there looking at each other. I then tell the guard that wasnt necessary, while at the same time, one of the owners come from behind the counter getting in my friends face. Though the guard reached for his gun, I stood right in front of him shielding my friend from the guard AND the owner. Obviously, they thought they could bully a female and thought she was alone. The guard was so upset that we called them on their policy that he still wanted to shoot somebody.. So bad that another employee got between us and escorted the guard back into the store. He obviously was more upset that I stood my ground and wasnt afraid.. Meanwhile another African female employee filtered herself into the melee as well with an antagonistic input towards my friend. Basically instigating, waiting for a pat on the head. Police were called to diffuse the incident.
In short, a peaceful shopping experience turned borderline deadly... All because this store has a peculiar return policy and believe all of their customers are potential thieves and uses armed, untrained guards as a deterrent. My friend is such with an unwanted product, and their guard was willing to shoot for it. BTW, I never drew a weapon nor made any threatening moves. The guard was afraid of my height and weight (6'6" 255 lbs) but felt more comfortable bullying my friend (5' 4"). All while other customers looked on while this store continued to blatantly defame my friend.
