My son had an accident and before the police showed up Rikers towing was there. After the police finished up their reprts (1 hour) the tow truck operator told my son the police called him for the tow (lie) and he would be towing my son's car to their "service center". It would have to be prepaid and would cost $125 plus $2 a mile. The problem was that the police did not call them, Rickers does not do body work only minor service and that he would also be charging per day to "store" the car in a back lot until its towed to a body shop. Luckly my son didn't have enough cash and called me about it. I contacted the local Mazda dealership and they recommended a honest towing company that towed it to them for $65 with no hidden charges.
I've heard about Rikers before since their service center has long had a reputation for ripping of the elderly in a retirement community near them (Williamsburg) but I never thought they would also be doing the old towing scam.
