Scam artists! Customer beware. I went into Rick Johnson Auto & Tire to have a routine oil change. I had a coupon for $9.95 and the first red flag should have been that they could not do it for this price since my vehicle is a Honda and it requires 5W 30. They told me it would be $23.xx, I agreed. Then the person says they can do it right then and about 30 minutes later comes to get me and takes me out to the garage where my van was and tells me I have been driving on no oil and my vehicle is making funny sounds. I said I don't believe you, I have my oil changed every 3 months and I check it regularly, also, the oil light has NEVER come on!! He said that he could not do the oil change and unless I agreed to a diagnosis and repair of what was wrong he could not under any circumstances do anything. UGH!! I told him he was ripping me off and he said I can take my car if I want.
So, I had to drive my vehicle about 1 mile to the nearest gas station and buy 5 quarts of oil to put in my van. I could not open the hood anymore, so I had a friend come and help me. Somehow my hood was latched in a way that I am still unable to unlatch it without some help and a lot of jiggling. It's been about 3 weeks now and I have been checking the oil regularly with help on the current hood issue. No oil loss. Yet, since that day, my vehicle make a very bad sound every time I start it. Ugh. It's sound like my engine is about to go. I am a single mom on a low income and these people destroyed my van. I don't know when the engine will go, but I do not have the funds to replace it. I wanted to call and say something but I knew they would do nothing and even if they diagnosed it they would not take blame for what happened. I would not trust them anyway to diagnose or fix it for free! I have to worry now daily how long will my car last? What am I going to do?? I am posting this review everywhere I can and reporting this company to the BBB. I am not just an angry customer with one bad experience, this was so corrupt and so wrong it is my duty to warn others.
We used these guys for tires first...that was fine. Then we had them do some minor repairs/service and had some issues with their workmanship. Wanting to give them a second chance we then used them to replace a clutch...MISTAKE!!
We had them replace the clutch for about $1,100...within a week or so there were some noises come from it that should NOT be happening with a new clutch. I've driven manual trucks all my lift so I've had many clutches and I know when something isn't right. When we contacted them about it they blamed it on "mis-use" trying to pass some BS about mud/water/dirt getting into the workings and causing the problem with the throw-out bearing and that they couldn't do anything about it!
Now, less than a year later we're having to get the clutch replaced AGAIN...another $1,300!! The new mechanics reviewed their work and found that they didn't replace some parts considered to be "must do" with this work...AND they used substandard low quality parts on top of that!
If all you need are tires they are probably fine but there seems to be a pattern with RJ of "upselling" customers on parts and service they don't need. So, take this information and use it how you will...caveat emptor.
I went to them for an oil change at the the beginning of february. Well, what happened was not good. I had the first appointment at 8 am, after waiting 35 minutes i asked when will me car be ready i have an appointment. They said we do a 25 point inspection, i said just finish up now i need to go. Well, after an hour i went back to the counter and asked again what is going on?? Carlos said there is a problem... Your back brakes are very bad they need rotors and pads and are down to 2%, i said i'll do them another time... Can i take my car now? He said oh, i'll do the oil change now. I said are you kidding me? Well 20 mins later i got my car and left. Yesterday i took my car to my mechanic who was away)... He told me that there is about 1 year left on the brakes at least 60% left and the rotors are great. I called the head office in fort myers, they listened and said they will talk to the manager, but they will not call me back to let me know what happened. Needless to say i was not happy. Stay away from rick johnson auto & tire. Their motto is: "fair & honest, tell a friend", well honest??? I did tell a friend, you guys!
I brought in my car for oil leak, they said the filter housing gasket needs replaced along with a belt and wheel alignment, total cost $700.
I agreed thinking they were honest. I was mistaken. On the very next day I found my car dropping oil again so I took the car to their shop again after a few days to find out that the store manager who was helping me was fired.
The new store manager with the name "Pavel Babaev" said they don't know where the leak is coming from and told me to take it to BMW and refused to refund the money they had charged me for fixing the leak that was never fixed.
He was so rude when I called him and said if you don't listen I will hang up on you. What a great customer service from a store manager.
