Richdale Group- Woodlake Oaks Apartments Houston, TX

Wow!!! The situation above is almost identical to mine!!! Except that I was injured in the apt due to flooding on 4 different occasions - this is within 2 weeks of move in!!!! I was supposed to be credited for 2 months rent as a result- I agreed. Called to find out why credits did not show on account and I'm told that Alyssa no longer works there!!!! Oh, and they refused to honor what she had arranged for me also!!! Stay away!!! Sewage Back-up causing flooding in only 2 weeks of move-in and then additional flooding after that!!! Stay Away!!! You've been warned.

I've never had any evictions or early term since I've had my first apt at age 18. Everything has been done by the books. Pay on time, if you can't, notify the landlord, get it resolved, move on. I got sick while out on assignment in another state at the end of Feb 2016. Once I was able to notify their corporate office the next week to make them aware I was being flown in I did. The rep said OK this amount will be due that day you arrive. Upon reviewing my account. I realized my funds were terribly short because my family used it to book the flight I missed. THAT'S what they should have done right??? So, I get in town and surrender $500 (all I had available) and proceeded to leave emails and voice-mail.

When another week started, I reached out to another rep at their corporate office. After 2 days no response. The 3rd day. I get an email from another rep CT who stated the other 2 no longer worked there. I explain my situation to her via phone and email. She stated "let me know what you can pay and when". So I tell her I've already paid $500 and I'm working on receiving help from family and social agencies to help for this month (March 2016 only until I get STDisability). She replies ....keep me updated. The next week while I'm climbing out of bed going to all of these agencies she begins to hound me saying I needed to pay more. At this point I've already received another 500+ in pledges from the agencies.

My rent was only $1305 so I'm more than half way there. So tack on $250 in late fees I would probably owe $400. So the corporate rep calls me and said "when ate you going to pay". I'm confused??? You have $500 from me and another $500 in pledges. I only owe another $600 with fees and I have an appointment TOMORROW with another agency who already told me they will pledge $300. So RUDELY her response was....well we told the office not to accept your payment so as of today you've paid nothing and the pledges don't matter. WELL 2 days later I'm trying to get rest (since I haven't stopped moving upon return from hospital) and I get a knock at the door...A CONSTABLE. That's right...FILED EVICTION FOR 20 DAYS LATE.

The officer could tell I was in a lot of pain so he said..look I know times are hard but if you're going to pay then just let them know so they can drop this. I replied...SIR...I've been in DAILY contact with these people. They are evicting me and its for this month I've already mustered up over 90% of the money. He looks confused and walks off. I contact the rep at corporate (THEY SAY YOU CAN ONLY DEAL WITH 1 FOR YOUR COMPLEX...NOBODY ELSE CAN HELP YOU). She says look, have all of your part minis the pledges by Mar 31 and your April rent on April 1 and this will satisfy our records. We had to file eviction because we "didn't know" if we would get your rent payment or not. REALLLLLLLLY PEOPLE????? GUESS WHAT, I get all the funds together for March and April (minus the pledges) on the 29th of March. I take then to the office to pay. The leasing agent looks complex.

I'm like what's wrong? Her reply...I can't find you in the system...must be a glitch. She calls corporate (same lady). Corporate tells her "I took her out of the system". .OH YOU'VE EVICTED ME BEFORE YOU EVEN WENT TO COURT RIGHT???? YEP. The rep then tells me via phone that she won't be accepting ANY of my payments. She needs ALL of mine PLUS the agencies or nothing. At this point there is nothing I can do because they all pay differently. After the court date, the rep states well bring in all you have and move out by the month end. Great. June 2016 I get an invoice for the remaining of the lease, relet fee, some "damages" and late fee. HUH???? $7k. SAVE YOURSELF....don't do Richdale Group apartments in ANY state. It's all about $$$$$.
