We bought our house in 1987. We painted it twice since. We wanted to get vinyl siding. We heard the ad a few years ago about Rhino Shield Wisconsin / Minnesota and decided to look into it. We had a sales rep come in. He quoted us $16,000 on our three-bedroom 1500 square foot home. We thought this sounded better than vinyl siding, but said we couldn't afford $16,000. He asked us what we could afford, and we said $10,000. He said OK. I should have followed my gut and said no.
The salesman said they would repair or replace any bad siding before installing the Rhino Shield. They instead filled in the holes with some sort of putty, and then they just sprayed the Rhino Shield over it. Two days after putting the Rhino Shield over the house, the putty started falling out when it rained. We were stunned that they puttied the wood instead of replacing like the sales rep said. Big glops started falling out.
After complaining (That I am in the real estate business and threatened huge horrible reviews with my real estate company), they came back and pulled off the siding that they had puttied. I felt better about that. However, over a year period the siding they replaced became warped and bowed.
They didn't come back to make repairs they don’t return phone calls frankly they just don’t care. Now, the Rhino Shield in the front is chipping off, and it's rotting in certain areas. They claim to have been in business for 14yrs in Minnesota yet the production guys said they were in Minnesota for three years and that the owners came up from Jacksonville Florida. I was also told by the production guys that worked on my house that they weren’t given any training on how to properly apply the Rhino Shield product they responded to a craigslist help wanted ad one day and were on the job site the next day. I’m not really sure they can be blamed if they were never properly trained.
For a twenty-five year warranty, we aren't even a fifth of the way through. The warranty itself is worthless and not worth the paper it’s written on when you read the fine print it only covers labor for two years. Jay and Rick Mariano owners of Rhino Shield Wisconsin / Minnesota / Jacksonville the father and son team of destruction have packed up here in Minnesota and have moved into Milwaukee. Last I seen they were trying to sell their operation in Minnesota I would feel really bad for the person that invest any money into this business model filled with liars and scammers.
As for me I’m just sad that we didn't go with vinyl siding instead $10,000 blown...burned...out the window gone. We are now stuck with something that isn’t lasting...looks ugly, chipping. This is one of the worst things which I regret doing every day when I come home and look at my house. I wouldn’t recommend Rhino Shield of Wisconsin or Rhino Shield of Minnesota to anybody.
