Revitalize and Renew, two companies whose name on their product is so small you truly need a magnifying glass to read it are two (maybe one) company that practice deceptive product advertising. The initial offer is for an age defying skin serum for the trial price of $4.95, the second offering is for a "free" eye cream. The initial charges are $4.95 & .99 showing up on my account as "Charm Beauty and a second third charge of $4.99 for Eye Spa (the initially advertised "free" eye creme. Thirteen days later there are two charges on my account for $89.95 and $88.10 respectively. When I called the number that was on my bank statement for these charges I was forwarded to a "customer service" agent who repeatedly told me I had missed the 14 day deadline for return and they could not refund the $89.95 and the $88.10 but they could cancel any further product delivery. In purchasing the trial product there was never a mention of future product delivery and cost. Fianlly after being told the same thing 4 times Charm Beauty (the Revitalize Company) offered to refund a portion of the charge $31.48, however I would have to call the second number for Eye Spa - the telephone number was different and the name on the product (the free product that showed up on my bill as $88.10) is Renew. I called the second number and was told they had already given me a discount and that the first person had done it incorrectly but she would give me a $30. refund on my "free" product. How generous?
Now I am not intellectually challenged and I typically can smell a scam, but this is ridiculous. By the way, the company name on each product does not really say it is the company, it merely says "manufactured exclusively for Revitalize, Santa Ana, CA and manufactured exclusively for Renew, Santa Ana, CA. No address, only 2 different telephone numbers. The print is so small on the product that I had to get a magnifying glass to even read the information.
One of the products has never been opened and is sealed, they will not take it back - the free product is not free!
I am still toasty and have called my bank to report "fraud". These companies that provide false advertisement and then refuse to correct their dishonest activity should be fined at minimum and refund "dupped" customers, perhaps this "scamming" will then be stopped.
I had the same experience, but since I used Capital One they did a three way call with me after they hung up on me. Offered me 35% off, then 50% off and then 75% off my bill. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and they took the charges off 100%. I will hold my breath and see if it comes through on my statement, but Capital One is behind me on this and have the conversation recorded. They insist it says I must cancel the trial before 14 days, but it does not say that still on the site I ordered from. PLUS THE PRODUCT DOESN'T WORK!
This scam popped up on my computer as a beauty product that was endorsed by celebrities and others. It claimed to reduce lines and winkles and skin imperfections. It seemed like a worthy product. The scam part comes in when you try to order the 14 day free trial. They advertise that you only have to pay shipping costs and you get a 14 day free trial. You enter your credit information to pay for the shipping and handling (a nominal amount) and they ship you the product to try.....at least that is the "push" on all the advertising. What you don't understand (and it is never explained to you on the website in any apparent way) is that the 14 day free trial starts that day. If you don't call them back and cancel within the 14 days, your credit account is charged 89.95 for the skin care product and 88.10 for the eye care product that supposedly was your free trial. This is in addition to the shipping charges you have already paid for.....So in effect, you are charged approximately $187.05 within one month of ordering this free trial. No you don't get any more product!
This is NEVER made clear to you in the website deal. Then on top of that you will be charged every month from then on for this product. Yes, you can look at your charges and get the name of a company that has nothing to do with the product and call the number they give you and you will get some call center in New York (the skin company is in California) and they will claim they do not have an account for you and can't help you. They will not give you the name of the company or confirm anything....denying all knowledge. So you have no one to report or make a refund claim to. I finally called the number on the back of the product (help line) and got some guy that tried to give me a 75% discount to stay on the monthly charge list. HA!
All in all, I spent three hours before I got through to someone who could actually cancel my account. I had to cancel my debit card and get another reissued to insure that they could not charge me again. The call center number that was posted on bank statement with the phone number in New York actually told me that those numbers were "rotated" all the time and evidently my financial institution had "called up" the wrong number and company. I checked with my financial institution and they don't "call up" anything....it comes in with the debit authorization from the company (which of course does not exist). I am elderly and the "hit" on my account was a shock and I would have never authorized it. I have worked with computers all my life and thought that I was pretty computer savvy about scams and such. I was knocked for a loop on this one. BEWARE of this scam!! The sad part is the product is actually pretty good and if they would just market it honestly, I think it would sell. But after this I would NEVER have anything to do with their company or their product. Such a shame.
Purchased revitalize age defying skin serum and renew rejuvenating eye cream online in a "free trial offer" for $4.99, $4.95. It was advertised in a magazine by celebrities including Dr. oz, so I looked it up online seeing the "free trial" offer, just shipping and handling were charged. The online sign up urged you to hurry, and had a counter on top rapidly decreasing in numbers showing how not many were left. Then exactly 13 days later my charge card was charged again; this time without my permission for, $88.10, and $89.95. When I called number on bank statement it was a New York number, the company is in California. I was told I had agreed through terms and conditions that that money would be charged after free trial. I had been also signed up to continue with product. I canceled everything but was refused refund. The product does not work so obviously they have to resort to being crooked to make money.
I saw an ad on Facebook for this Revitalize cream and all you had to do was pay the $4 and something shipping. No where did it state that I had to return it within 14 days. Today I check my checking account and I have 2 charges of almost $100 EACH which sent my checking account into the negative and now I have overdraft fees!!!! I tried to call the 877 # and they kept telling me that the product was non-refundable (which I never heard of before), but I could get no where with this rude man on the phone
Offered 25 percent, then 50, then 75 discount. Requested full refund if mailed back. Mailing back cost me $6.80. But when receiving the credit which should have been $88 and $80, they kept $20 for shipping cost of the product I never ordered.
